  • If Freddie Mercury were still alive today, I think he'd be a Damian Wilson fan.

  • I think the music the background really ruined the orignal atmosphere of the song. The original was very focused on vocals and sheer force of their voices but these guys........the atmospheres are 2 different things and its not excatly a good thing. When you make a cover you don't always have to add to the orignal

  • Covering Queen is always going to be difficult because there will never be another Freddie Mercury - the guy remains a legend 20 years after his death. This cover keeps the spirit of the song, it is meant to be symphonic and grand, the kind of tune that would not out of place at the last night of the proms.

  • Lol, god they ruined this song with trashy euro vocals and trashy techno euro synth

  • I actually enjoy this version a bit more...I clearly love Freddie, but my brain seems to prefer the clean vocals as opposed to the rasp...but to each his own! Music is AWESOME

  • the orig was better b.c it was his and his alone... and it had much more meaning for him ps breaking benjamin did it better thanks for the attempt schlubs

  • @heshin22 No breaking benjamin rapped the song and total missed the fact that it is symphonic.

  • @tibetanul totally agree there my friend ,of course its not freddie only one of them ,still got the passion and soul nice guitar work as well love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rip freddie legend!!!!

  • this cover gives the same feeling that the original does.

  • I AM FUCKIN SHOCKED !!!

how can you even dare to do that and i give a fuck bout "dont understand the concept of a cover"thats fuckin crime

    Dude . . . . .

  • Comment removed

  • The synths are just too cheesy sounding.

  • man this is weak i like the breaking benjamin cover best of who wants to live forever

  • @breakingjesus57 Then go listen to that shit band and leave the metal music to metal fans.

  • @Epica124 hey you no what FUCK YOU

  • @breakingjesus57 Wow someone can't ahndle the fact that I don't like there band.

  • @Epica124 i handle it bitch i dont give a fuck about your opinion your no one for i to care about............

  • @breakingjesus57 Yet you hit post.

  • @Epica124 look who posted.........

  • @breakingjesus57 I actually found the Breaking Benjamin cover a bit disappointing. This one is truer to the spirit of the original.

  • @Briannicus well its my opinion you no but hey i respect you cuz thats your opinion and thats kul

  • Anybody know who sings the male part here? I've heard the guy in a couple other AF songs, but never really knew his name.

  • @Firewalkerbg Damian Wilson

  • @Nyktos4444 Many thanks :)

  • @Firewalkerbg Mr. Ayreon himself, Arjen

  • I want to hear her redue this song now that she's in Revamp... I think it'd be more soulful

  • A beautiful cover of a great song from a classic film!

  • You know something, when you strip away the "Classic" of the original, its just another old pop song. And this one improved upon it drastically. The original had the same problem many songs of the era had, it lacked a lot of the real Push that modern music does, the more creative use of more varied synthesized instruments, the addition of proper orchestration synth, and much, much more driving bass lines. This is one of those that was good at the time, but imo, has been made MUCH better...

  • This is one of my most favorite Queen songs. And I got goosebumps when I heard the After Forever version. Well done!

  • I expected something better.

  • i am a huge queen fan, yes the original is the better version but i love other artists making covers, it means the queen and the songs will never die. i think Freddie would of wanted this R.I.P Freddie.

  • also im pretty sure this is Arjen and possibly Joost playing keyboards with floor singing...it sounds like Arjen's production and guitar playing at least.

  • Excelent cover, but Freddie Mercury is unique. Original Queen version is better :)

  • @dragonrojodemetal As long as it has the Highlander movie playing then yes the Queen version will rule. :) There can be Only One. In fact I think there should be rule for any one who wants to cover this song they most show clips of the Highlander movie.

  • Such a good version!

Inspires anyone even who doesn't like metal...

  • HOW THE FLOOR CAN DO THIS?? CHOOSE THIS MUSIC!!

HOW SHE CAN LEAVE ME MORE LOVE ... STILL ...

  • amazing band, fantastic cover

  • As a huge fan of both fans, I'm not that keen on this cover. Then again, if Queen covered an AF song, I probably wouldn't be too keen on it either.

  • I normally don't like covers of Queen songs but when I head this I was like fuck me sideways this is good

  • good cover, nobody compares to freddie though :D

  • I love this cover

  • Great Cover, respect! The emotions like Freddie!

  • This is After Forever, but featuring Mr. Damian Wilson who has worked with Arjen Lucassen on Ayreon and Star One, and Mr. Arjen Lucassen who just happens to be a genius. So I guess this might be called a collaboration between Ayreon and After Forever, though it was released on the After Forever compilation album 'Mea Culpa'.

  • @DeFubz this song is back from 2001 and was released in the Emphasis single

  • there's no one than superband queen ,and freddie amazing voice.

original that's the best version of all, there can be only one that's freddie

  • This is by far the best cover of the song and in some ways it has the spine that the original never did.

  • ridiculous comment, but you have a right to your opinion. the original is FAR superior in EVERY way.

What's with the snap, crackle and pop in the middle?

  • peaple needs a woman and a man for sing like freddie.. but ther can be only one! freddie is the only one..the real champion of the world!

  • FREDDIEI S THE BEST

  • i dont fault then as a band there pretty good, but im not keen on there version too much keyboard effects, it does have some good parts, like the last 2 mins of the song is pretty good

  • people dont understand the concept of a cover song they keep the lyrics and change it to the genre the badnd feel comfortable with

of course its not gonna be better that the original but it's a nice "cover"

  • @theonebg98 i actually think this is better than the original not that the original wasn't pure greatness

  • The tempo of the song kills it imo. Too fast.

  • This is more like Ayreon's cover... Solo guitar sounds alot like Arjen's. Male vocals - Damian Wilson. Keyboards - Joost Van Der Broek

Actually the song would sound better without Floor. She has great voice, but it just doesn't match the song. I like Damians parts better.

  • I think this really is Ayreon. But I do liek Floor's voice. Doesn't substitute a high male voice, but it's more than I would have asked.

  • It was released in a After Forever album and Joost is also AF's keyboardist, so...

  • he mabye playing the parts but the parts sound like something Arjen would compose, and those are 100% Arjens keyboards :p

  • @Laihoistheman its not Joost, Joost joined the band in 2005, this song is from 2001

  • @bpmartinelli Joost joined the band in 2005, this song is from the single of 2001

  • the point of a cover is to PAY TRIBUTE not to try to be as good or better then the original take each for what it is and be happy i like it

  • bravi..veramente molto bravi!!

  • Grazie molto comunque non italiano io stesso che sono andato su babelfish

  • I actually like this version! Not as good as the original, but anyway... I'm a huge fan of Queen, and it's nice to hear covers like this one. =)

  • I can´t believe I´m saying this but I like the breaking benjamin version better.

Of course the Queen version is still a master piece =3

  • the original is a billion times better Freddie mercury was and still is the best vocalist and song writer ever to set foot on this earth =D

    R.I.P Freddie

  • that's a biased opinion

  • no its the truth face it this guy is no where near as good as Freddie R.I.P freddie =(

  • No, dude. You having a subjective opinion does not make it a fact. There are countless singers that are better than Freddie Mercury

  • no freddie was sooo different from every one else he wasnt afraid to branch out into other genres and his voice was far better than any other rock singer so he made it work, take bohemian rhapsody it rocketed to the top and stayed there for longer than most songs ever have and that was a mix between opera and rock it had never been done before he was never afraid to jump out into the unknown and if some failed then...

  • @vanhelllsing Success does not equal talent. Going by your logic Brittany Spears, and Sarah Brightman are also some of the best singers on the planet. That isn't so though, now is it.

  • ...that didnt matter but most of his songs were major hits and its not biased because it is a fact FREDDIE WAS BETTER THAN THIS GUY that is why Freddie has had a much better and wider known career than this guy now lets leave it at that shall we

    R.I.P Freddie Mercury

  • @vanhelllsing Floor Jansen is an operatically trained soprano, her technique is miles ahead of Freddie Mercury's. just because you have a subjective opinion for a preferred singer does not make them the best. She is technically a much better singer than he is. Get over it.

  • you know wat i KNOW that she is no where near as good as Freddie and no one ever will be he had something amazing and i admit that success dos not measure talent but just watch the original vid of who wants to live for ever he has an amazing voice and no one in the rock or pop world could match it this guy had more talent then every one in this band put together and i know tones of other people would back me up he was a Legend and his music will live on forever.....

  • .....oh and before you say i have i subjective opinion or i am biased i have seen alot of this bands vids and truly they do not even compare with Freddies voice and his pure charisma so just give up whilst u can

    R.I.P Freddie

  • @vanhelllsing A subjective opinion is one givn without any real knowledge of the subject and just going on your own personal feelings. Which is what you're doing. you don't actually know anything about singing, yet you continue to argue on the subject. Therefore you are giving a subjective opinion that is not based on actual knowledge of the human voice. Shut up and get over it. Floor is a better singer that Freddie, and nothing you say will change that. You bleeding imbecile.

  • @vanhelllsing He was nothing special as a vocalist, he just had charisma.

  • @vanhelllsing I can name literally hundreds of people who are better singers than him. Whether they have his charisma or not is subjective, but from a technical standpoint there are many better singers.

  • alright so you have a subjective opinion about her and i have one about Freddie can we just leave it at that in my opinion Freddie was the best singer on this planet but you obviously think different so you can think your opinion and i can think mine in the future just don't comment back because i was only voicing my opinion like many others.

    R.I.P Freddie Mercury

  • @vanhelllsing No. My "opinion" is neither subjective, or an opinion. You see as a classically trained singer, and voice major I actually have a surprising amount of vocal knowledge. Meaning I am actually capable of analyzing a persons voice and singing technique. What I am saying lies in the realm of fact.

Therefore you are wrong; and making an idiot of yourself for arguing a subject you know nothing of, when I in reality have a great deal of knowledge on the subject.

  • al right you just being a Hippocratic now

  • @vanhelllsing Do you even know what Hippocratic means? I advise you to just not talk anymore, lest you end up looking more stupid than you already do.

  • @vanhelllsing This is difference between you, and I. Whereas you have no actual knowledge of the subject, and are just stating an opinion. I am stating how things actually are. You can look at there performance ability in a subjective light, but vocal technique is not a subjective issue. Do you understand now? Were you able to comprehend that?

  • Ok, Im going to settle this. Opinions are opinions some people might think another singer is better than another and people need to respect that. No one is being biased you are just supporting your acknowledgments and opinions why can't you respect that? This is put to damn right selfishness, no offense but could you quit it? Because there are people out there who actually understand opinions and actually want to watch this video peacefully so please stop it. I will ban you both if it continues.

  • @moorebratz Opinions are opinions, and facts are facts. You don't have to like what I say but that doesn't change the fact that I'm right, subjective opinions mean nothing when it comes to vocal technique.

  • To some people though you aren't right. Your opinion is not a fact get it right.....

  • well said =D

  • @moorebratz He's actually right, he's not expressing an opinion. What's he's saying is a fact. Get over it you screaming little twat. Floor Jansen is a more technically skilled singer than freddie mercury. Not that he's a bad singer, his technique is just lacking in several aspects.

  • Another stupid person I should ban, seriously guys you need your head screwed on, I think Nera from Darzamat is more trained then both, listen I am a professionally trained singer and I know this, also I know about little selfish people who do not understand people's opinions you lot really need to grow up...

  • but hes just no because that is what he thinks just because he says he is a trained classical singer dosnt mean his opinion of singing is fact that is just being narrow minded as a trained singer

  • @Operaguy110 lol....lol...lol...

  • @Operaguy110 But, it's not as if Floor is really that technical either. She has some training, but has no where near the amount of training as is commonplace for an opera singer. That isn't to say she's a bad singer, but there are lot of more technically sound girls out there.

  • @tenor220 my god your a pretentious little prick aren't you? it's an opinion get the fuck over it, you don't know everything whether you would like to think so or not.

  • While I will not deny that Freddie Mercury was an amazingly talented individual, I do believe that even he would have truly adored this cover. It is masterfully done.

  • @TheDullahan I agree. I to believe Freddie would be supportive of this cover.

  • @TheDullahan Well Queen and use a lot of symphonic elements in the song. So it is easy for a band like After Forever to play.

  • @Epica124 Precisely.

  • @vanhelllsing

Freddie (and Queen, of course) just raised the bar high enough to ensure none will step forward that high! And this approve truth for 20 years now...

  • so much better than the original

  • litlle hasty but quite good cover from after forever and Ayreon !..!

  • Well, I like After Forever

that Cover is not a quarter of the orginal

    the solo is fuckin´butchered -.-

  • Awesome!

  • thanks

  • Very good music... Better in the voice of Floor and BAS! =]

  • yeah i agree........ thanks for putting the first comment on my vid
