  • God, I wish they weren't so pricy. If you're a videographer, then you can probably get it to pay for itself after a project or two but if you're just shooting for fun, this may drain you good.

  • where have i heard this song before?! Great vid.

  • @WEStICE013

    pachelbel's canon

  • Hello!

How many weights do you use?

    Nice video!

  • it is a brilliant device save for the immovable gimbal...but even then, it can be balanced properly and made to yield great footages!!

  • Wow, this is incredible!! Would you recommend the body attachment to a person like myself extremely short on money? I am considering buying this but purchasing the body attachment will cost all of my money.

Also, do you also have to actually "learn" how to operate it?

    Thanks a ton!

  • What is the differences between a Glidecam and a Steadycam?

  • best stabilizations

  • Editing would be easoer i guess b/c you can get way more useable footage

  • Nice

  • Didn't your mama tell you not to run in the house, LOL. J/K, Great shots. 5/5

  • You are very skilled with that Glide Cam. I have the same one and have not been able to get shots half that good. Nice job.

  • Hehe nice I did just the same thing ironicly with the same music but on a diy dolly I made; search ashnocash on vimeo

  • the best cam stabilizator video on youtube. Is it because of the product or you know how to use it properly? I just got my flycam5000. Trying it out this weekend.

  • i heard these things make editing so much easier

  • @pksmb1120

    editing? how?

  • Wonderful. Nice music, too.

  • how do you keep it straight when running like that? where do you hold with your other hand?......that sounds weird....but seriously...

  • defiantly going to have to kepi some of those moves in mind...

    nice job.

  • Thanks for the great demo of yours. It inspired me to buy one myrself.Gets you that hollywood look for sure :-). The only bad thing is that its heavy with my 5dmar2 on after a while. For shorter shoots its perfect. Highly recomended.

  • Good demo!

  • nice house

  • I would like to buy the Glidecam 2000 Pro. Do you think it is a good product?

I saw many videos about it, bout I would like to hear the opinion from people who own it.

    Thanks

  • I WANT IT!

  • Great video! What is the music?

  • mark mccabe - maniac 2000

  • LOL

  • WOW! You're really knowledgeable, I'm amazed at how much musical knowledge can fit in such a small head!! Congratulations!

  • LOL

  • Pachelbel's Canon in D -- one time a fine piece to play and hear at weddings. Today, only those with little to no imagination insist that it's played at their wedding.

  • if possible, could you post a video of how you balanced it?

I have the exact same camera and glidecam, and I have yet to get it balanced perfectly as it is very frustrating.

  • one bad thing is that you look completely retarded with it+the vest xD

  • lol agree

  • That video is just great! I really appreciated it because after watching it I realised what great effects a glidecam makes to your recordings!

    Thank you very much!

  • Wow. Very nicely done. Some of the smoothest glidecam shots I've seen. I'm excited because I thought I had to spring for the vest but I'm going to look into that brace you've got...

  • the glidecam company should pay you.

i am sure lots of people bought glidecams after watching your video!

  • hey, i noticed you have the arm brace.. how well does that work? My camera is way too heavy to use the glidecam for extended periods of time..

  • Thank you!!! a lot!!! and thank you double for mention what camera was used! awesome color transmition even with crappy youtube video compressor! Thanx again.

  • Thanks for clearning IT up. The all upper case confused me. Anyhow, as an old guy I likely won't live long enough to learn how to fully master the thing. Or, worse, I will and then drop dead and have some strangers pore over it, some policeman will give it to his girlfriend.

  • Re: "it takes 4 to 6 months" to learn how to use the Glidecam. In truth it may take several years. I know of one person who has been struggling with it for decades.

  • I am sorry for not being more specific. I meant, if one were to purchase it, expect to spend at least 6 months of usage to learn how to operate. I never said at a professional level. But at a level perhaps compitent enough to perform some basic operation for a project. It is the amount of time it took me to farmiliarize myself with the devise. After 2 years i can fly extremely well.

  • ight. this is because of the physical build of the unit. IT does not extend enough of the shaft to use heavier cameras.

What do the letters IT stand for?

  • It being the devise.

  • I have a Canon HV20, and I was wondering if I purchased the glidecam 2000 would it be just right? I don't have ANYTHING on my hv20, so it is basically around 2 pounds.

  • Thanks for the demo. I always felt that Glidecam should do a proper showreel but they rather leave it to their users. You have some really well composed and STEADY dolly, tracking and arching shots there.

  • This vid made up my mind for me. I'm getting one for our dvx

  • Incredible!

  • Wow, this is some great stuff.

  • Hey men... i just got the 4000 Pro... but i think is hard to keep the strenght during a long time... so... what about the arm brace... is easiest to hang in there with that???

  • What type of camera is used in this video? Nice quality! thanx...

  • nice demonstration! Would you know if there is any major difference between this and the merlin steadicam? Glidecam seems to be half the price of a standard Merlin

  • the Merlin steadicam is made by Tiffen, who created the original Steadicam. The Glidecam is more of a knockoff, however it does the same job. The Merlin's design is much easier on the wrist, as the gimbal is directly over the grip, where as this one is placed several inches in front, straining your wrist more. But yeah, you get what you pay for, and this thing works fine for my needs. If you can afford it, get the Merlin, if not, this will do just as well. Hope that helps!

  • Hi, I knowticed you upgrade to 4000pro. Now what would have happened if you used the Canon A1 with the 2000? do you think you can still use it? or is it going to be useless? I just want to know if you can still use the 2000pro over 6 to 10pound?

  • you can use the XH A1 with the 2000 pro, but that is the absolute weight limit. Forget adding a mic, wires, anything else but the camera and battery.

  • thanks for the reply. Now what exactly happens if you have too much weight? will it start to not function right?

  • right. this is because of the physical build of the unit. IT does not extend enough of the shaft to use heavier cameras.

  • the body pod is garbage really. It is just a cradle that allows the unit to hang off of your chest, except because there is no spring attachment, there is no way to absorb the vertical bounce of your step. So if you use the body pod, get ready for bouncy footage lol.

  • It's not easier per say, it just gets rid of the strain on your wrist. And when your operating a camera that is close to 10 pounds like my own, you can only go for a few seconds before your wrist gives out.

  • So what is your favorite genre of movies you will be filming soon.. action, adventure, horror, romance, sci-fi....etc.. i seen your Donut Quest, picture was nice..

  • Nice work, i just got a huge check and about to buy some more filming tools, including the glidecam 2000 pro... did you also use the arm stabilizer for the glidecam too and also i am going to buy the Varizoom vest and articulate arm for the glidecam 2000 also..

  • Now that i've upgraded to the glidecam 4000 pro, due to using the Canon XH A1, with a letus extreme ( weight of the entire camera is 10 pounds ) i knew that it was time to get a vest and arm, but i went with the smooth shooter, as it is part of the glidecam series. I would check that out.

  • Pachelbel can make even walking around your own house seem like an emotional, romantic flashback scene from a movie.

Oh, and nice glidecam work too. I can't wait until I get my hands on one of those

  • dang, if i didnt know better, id say you were using a dolly!

  • you got the skill. you can notice the professionality.

  • !! dude it's awesome!!

it's like I'm watching pro film movie!

by the way how much was the glidecam 2000 pro?

  • Two minor suggestions. Provide a dialogue telling your story. Work on lighting. Otherwise thanks for showing this need device.

  • lol wow, arent you being slightly picky for a demonstration? the sole purpose of this is to show the steadiness of a balanced rig. but thanks for the comment none the less. Im sure if you look at my other videos, you will see that i do indeed light, but for something like this, its slightly pointless.

  • lol - you're kidding right?

  • Very nice kid! I am a Glidecam V-25 operator. Your rig is very well balanced all 3 axes as I could see it in the mirror.

  • Awesome, man this looks amazing. Wish I have that stuff!

  • you do now. you have me.

  • wonderful work, I would hire you in a Minute if you lived in my city.

  • Very cool. i have access to one of those at my school (just trying it out for the first time right now...) I thought it sucked... but now i see i am just unskilled.

  • it takes months, or even longer to learn how to operate a "steadicam" unit, glidecam, or other. The rig is only the tool to allow such a movement, the operator has to produce it :)

  • i gotta get me one of those

  • really cool!! would you say that the glidecam is a viable alternative to a tripod all together?? is it a pain to use?? the footage u get with it looks awesome!!

  • I would not concider a glidecam as being an alternative to a tripod. a tripod is a tripod and a steadicam is a steadicam. It does get quite tiring to use, however that is the reason why i ordered the glidecam smooth shooter with the glidecam4000 pro. having an arms and a vest to distribute the weight throughout the body and not solely the forearm will allow me to operate it for longer periods of time before tiring.

  • Not everyone has money for that. I own a $ $10,000.00 Glidecam V-25 because I am a professional. This kid balanced his rig extremely well done. Watch what he did in the mirror + the overall 400 pro control without twitching left and right as I see all the time people doing.

  • what camera do you use?

  • there, i was using the dvx100b from panasonic, now i use canon's XH A1

  • If not a secret, how long does it take with this one to get a nice flying look,

    Thanks!

  • honestly, probably a modest 4-6 months of use.

  • why does it take so long?

  • not sure what you are talking about my man?

  • why does it take 4-6 months to "get a nice flying look"? is it the balancing? is it practice of how to turn it or operate it? It seems like it should work fairly well straight out of the box.

  • lol because the rig is only meant to isolate the camera movement. What takes a while is learning how to properly control the gimbal while steering the glidecam. You have to learn how to walk, how to use your thumb and index finger to rotate the rig.

Do a bit of research for steadicam operators. There is a reason they exist :)

  • how do you deal with focusing? on the XL1S, auto-focus in progressive mode is... *yawn* did you have autofocus on, were you changing the focus, or was it just one setting throughout (maybe I just can't tell with YouTube quality...). I'm thinking about getting a dvx100b + glidecam myself... Thanks!

  • Hey Man,

The best thing to do is to keep your focus as deep as possible for glidecam shots. I mean it really depends on the aesthetic you are aiming for, but unless you have a remote focus puller, it aint gunna happen.

  • How long did it take you to get a handle on the glidecam? I just used one yesterday and it seemed like the hardest thing ever. My hand was all jittery the whole time.

  • Took me about 2 months to learn how ot use it, and another 4 or 5 to get extremely comfortable with it.

I do use the arm brace from time ot time so that does help with the weight. Are you a strong lad? lass? it does require some strength.

  • dvx100b

  • Which camera did you use?

  • do you just run faster when "the shot" is zooming in fast. cool shit by the way. how much did you pay?

  • actually, the weird thing about the arm brace, is although it does help your wrist, it also limits slightly your vertical movement. A little more bump in your step, is what i mean.

  • I haven't tried the brace yet, but I think I will need it if I'm doing some longer shots. Your wrist acts like a spring, and I think the brace bypasses the wrist? That's probably why you get more bumpiness.

  • Jdubsky you are the man...i see the arm brace in action in the mirror...true wisdom!!

  • how much is a glidecam?

  • Well Done!

  • Awesome shots, I need to buy one right away.
