while listening to this for the first time, i was on the highway, driving along and all of a sudden, the absurd reality i always lived in seemed to make perfect emotional poetic sense. all of a sudden i hear a siren, pull over, lower the music and the cop walks up to me. stares me strait in the face and says "you were going 80" i tried to hand him my lic. n reg. but he refused to take them and said "your off the hook if you tell me the name of that song your listening to". thnx radiohead....
Just wondering if it is getting tough for radiohead to bring all the angst of their songs to the stage still after all these years......night after night.....seems a little mentally taxing and overwhelming to do so.........just a thought........by the way, love this song!!
Aah I love songs about space. This reminds me so much of Pink Floyd's Echoes. The single random notes.. and Space Oddity, the sentiment is so similar.. Although this makes me feel a lot more suicidal. In a beautiful, surreal way.
@HEVYprgmwar Yes I know ithe figure is holding a camera, that's why I said it looks like it's crying. I'm just interpreting what I see in alternative ways.
the beginning is cool, but it gets kinda monotonous after a minute or two. maybe some changes in tempo/setting and/or addition of color, perhaps starting with select objects then transitioning to the full scene? especially with the frenetic chorus? keep up the good work.
@Spaceisneat how come it has to be for humanity? why cant she weep because she's sad? why do people constantly have to make things so deep and profound?
btw, her hands are by her face cause shes holding a camera. i mean really...didnt you ever just want to be gone? not because of humanity but because of just being sad? stop trying to be so pretentious, please. it detracts from the song and video. thanks!
@Spaceisneat you made a nice video. im calm i just think you were being pretentious with your "weeping for humanity" comment. im not saying that to be hurtful. take the constructive criticism and calm down yourself. you're showing your age.
@leilafigueira84 shameful? jesus, you people are too sensitive. i didnt say anything derogatory, it was merely an observation based on something the creator of this video had said about weeping. get over yourself.
@basspole No kidding, spent the first half of the song reading this.. Now I gotta restart it and reinsert my own original meaning to the song again! sheeesh lol.
(just read a post on a forum) Listen to Parasite by Nick Drake. This is great! Radiohead has some great influences, love'm. But this one was new for me. can i love'm more?
@Probolkoc I'm so glad I'm not crazy! I was singing Lucy in the Sky earlier and somehow found myself singing this song but when you listen to it it doesn't REALLY seem to sound like it...So I googled "Subterranean Homesick Alien Lucy" and this came up... haha
@madcap66laughs And I wonder why people write treatises on the human condition. Why did Thomas Hobbes bother with Leviathon when he could have just made a 30 minute album of eerie music about being captured by aliens! A strange generation, we have spawned indeed...
@Spaceisneat I've had a couple of beers. I used to listen to this as I had a very good friend who loved radiohead and insisted upon playing radiohead albums over and over
I don't mean to sound like a stoner but if you don't listen to this song at least once in your life while high then you are truly missing out on an incredible experience.
@Spaceisneat Well it's actually a play on how people don't explain what something is, they just say what it's like. I do the same thing to annoy people who are concentrating on something, by pointing at somewhere hard to see and saying "you see that sign?" And they squint their eyes for a minute and say "yeah?" And I just say, "Me too." It definitely annoys them :)
@Spaceisneat Great syncing, I just realized that the cracks in the pavement are exactly at the same time as when he says 'cracks in the pavement'! Oh and that's such a cool bit in the third half!
I guess that's what you could assume... seeing as I'm wandering around aimlessly for awhile on the road, and then I somehow find my way back home.
Before I even had the idea of editing this video with the radiohead song in it, I filmed myself and my shadow walking down the street... so it was pretty random but also pretty lucky how everything came together. :)
Probablemente una de las mejores canciones de rock alternativo de los noventas, y ok computer uno de los grandes albums de todos los tiempos indiscutiblemente.
I could tell why, but it would take me much time. Anyway this is just the way I imagine this music. Your shadow and the solitude made a great couple as protagonists.
This is excellent, I was only searching as I wanted to listen to this song (and was too lazy to dig out the cd) and I found this.
How lucky was it that the song matched nearly exactly the video (cracks in the pavement part was nicely timed)? Impressive walking about too, if I had tried that I would have likely fallen over something (possibly that jaggy looking plant 3 mins or so into the film).
Haha thanks alot. Yea, if I want to listen to a Radiohead song I just search for videos on youtube instead of looking for the CD too ;) Yea after I edited the video and watched it, I was like "holy crap it goes with the lyrics!" I thought that was pretty awesome. You would've fallen over something eh? lol I guess if you do try something like that just make sure you walk really slow and look ahead once in awhile :P
It wasn't meant to be literal. I filmed this video even before I had the idea of using the Radiohead song with it. So basically, I got lucky when I finished editing it because it went with the lyrics of the song.
i like this video, but i dont like those kind of videos that take the lyrics literally and show what the lyrics talk about in the video. For example, when the song says "You watch your feet, the cracks in the pavement", you show your feet and there's cracks in the pavement you're walking on.
Hehe, ;) actually, I filmed this video even before I had the idea of using it for the song and I when I edited it all together it seemed to go with the song. Coincidentally, the lyrics matched the crack in the pavement part...so it wasn't anything I planned, so it wasn't intentional :P.
I agree with both of you, I also don't like the videos which match the lyrics literally, and also sometimes have it in my own videos by accident. Yet, I am trying to avoid it. Anyway, thanks for the song!
Can't go wrong with OK Computer : ) This nice simple vid compliments the spirit of this introspective track so well. Grey, ethereal, isol@ed, a little sad yet not gloomy...nice one : D
Cool video, recording the shadow alone gave it a cool effect, almost like a shadow of a person walking through life, not really living fully or being there always.
