ok lol i dont get it i learn shaster vidya but what is the difference my ustad ji bhai jaungvir (jagvir) singh ji of the damdami taksal said their the same thing but two different names
@khalsafauj47 shastar vidhya teaches alot more than gatka, it teaches takedowns, fist fighting, disarming, submissive fighting. sikh historians and common sikhs agreed to a conclusion that shastar vidhya is the real martial art of the sikhs. Gatka means stick fighting, or something like that, and it came out during the british rule cuz sikhs couldnt use kirpans but sticks cuz of british law. therefore shastar vidhya is the real martial art of the sikhs.
this stuff is great! can anyone tell me what the name of the song which starts at about 1:25 is? Also, what is the spinning thing used at about 2:00 called? Thanks.
i have to say this, many of the techniques used were wrong and if they were actualy done with actual battle ready swords, they would have damaged the swords very badly or even brocken them.
this is gatka. not shastarvidiya, any1 who wants to learn the real stuff - learn shastarvidiya

a perfect twirl does not lead to any kind of offensively applicable tactic. The real Khalsa of the old armies would never have done that.

what is the point of aimlessly twirling the kirpan,,,,?

practice makes perfect.

this is gatka not shaster vidya. gatka is flat footed and the fighting style is completely different.
