His statement wasn't social Darwinism, it was existentialism. A "Becket" moment. Meaning isn't something given to someone, it's something one defines for themselves. Rather than wait for instructions from Godot, find what satisfies your needs, and do it for the honest purpose of selfactualization. By the way, if you look into Jacque's ideas more closely, you'll notice that he has a total lack of prejudice because he thinks that people are a product of their environment, and that if he was raised and lived in a different environment, he would have different values. actually there was a very interesting part in the movie zeitgeist ammendum about human nature and the needs of humans far beyond that of food water and sex. there is also a need to be loved, touched. and to have a purpose in life which it was also mentioned how people could live much more meaningful and enriched lives if they had 100% of their time to indulge on their personal interests and skills. imagine a world full of people doing exactly what they are passionate and good at all the time...
