whats the benefit in having that certain amount of sag? I understand you'll bottom out too easily with too much sag but why would you not want only 1 to 2 inches of sag versus 3 or 4?
@ferebeescott211 Stiffer suspension with quicker rebound. Too little sag and the suspension won't work as intended. Rear could end up being a little loose with less sag as well.
@ferebeescott211 Suspension will react differently, rear end would be a little looser, quicker rebuild. Too little and the suspension will not work as intended.
I know you don't have a kx125 but I figured I ask I'm 5 foot 6 125 with gear do you think I'd fit on a kx125? It's a 37 Inch seat height. The guys at the dealership said kx100 but then the guys on the forums said kx125. I need some advice!! Thanks
nice bike man, i have a honda and i have stopped riding for a while but i really want to get goin but my bike sags and i also need to fix a few minor things before i do
@EZkill5 Probably but you'd probably want to get a lighter spring. If you have to go more than a few steps lighter on the spring you'll probably want to get it revalved.
i did mine yesterday and on the stand it measured 586mm and when i sat onit it was 485mm. so thats 101mm perfect but can i turn the spring so the first measurment is at 600mm and do it from there again to make the bike a little bit taller
@ben1996ful Need to take the measurement from the highest point. You really should take the first one with the bike on a stand (I think I mentioned this in the vid or I hope I did).
@Junkboy692 3.5 difference is what you are looking for. Lets say between the swing arm and number plate bottom measuere 14" without load on the bike. You would want 10.5" while sitting on the bike measuring that same area.
I measures the distance with the tire off the ground and it was 25". Then I got on the bike and measured it was 20". How would I set it to the 3.5 to 4. Something sag? Thanks
How come every other MX article I read on setting race sag, they say to place the bike on a stand when first measuring, and making sure the tire is off the ground? I'm assuming thats why you dont have enough sag in the vid..
@ulumanati They tell you to do so so there is no sag in the bike at all. I think I explained that but if not, oops... I lifted the suspension up for the initial test so there was absolutely no sag.
So you need to get between 90-110 mm right ?? I sit on the bike and it's 20" and on the stand it's 24" static sag is 4" witch is 10.2 mm add that on to 90 mm is about 100 mm which is in between 90 and 110 is that correct or is there somthing wrong. Thanks Cormác
@Johnnysshop wow ! you really know how to keep a bike looking good. the only reason i'm getting brand new is so I can pay monthly on it. thanks for posting!

does loosing it make the seat height smaller? i need to lower the seat height on my dirt bike and i dont know how! PLEASE REPLY!!
traxxas35 4 months ago
@traxxas35 Yes but that's not how you should lower your seat height. It will mess with the suspension feel.

How do you know if it needs more or less, like a good base line #...its being done on a supermini bike..dont know if that helps

@QuadRider004 3-4 is good baseline for most bikes but I'm not sure on the mini. I assume it would be less.
