  • Llano will pretty much kick this CPU butt. The only thing that will save Intel is for him to buy nVidia.

  • but the thing is, this integrated graphics arent meant to replace the current gpu cpu standard, its just a step forward into that eventual integration, as things stand now what could happen is to use the integrated graphics along with a standard gpu card so you get that extra bit of performance.

eventually we wont need anymore graphics cards, as the integrated graphics on the cpu's become more refined and powerfull. think about it being able to buy a processor that will out match a gtx 580 sli

    =)

  • awesome....soooo uhh...now having a dedicated physx card would be obsolete? the cpu can do everything....

  • I have now a AMD Atlhon II x4 2.60 and run very nice all games and programs. but today I bougth a i7 2600. I think all need respect Intel/AMD because the two companies are brillant.

  • @Ar73m1x i'm assuming you have two computers since the two processers are different makes, meaning you need different motherboards

  • Rumel = rummage electronics

  • OMG pseudo new jerky pictures technology from Rumel

  • Yea well....Integrated will NEVER be better than a good graphics which I am willing to buy.

So buy a CPU with integrated will only make me pay more money for settings which I am not going to use, or make my CPU waste precious logic processing on useless graphics.

  • @Guardian9191 the sandybridge is super fast, my friend has it, and its cheaper then i7

  • @jwarrior343 wrong when compared to 1st gen chips they have only imporved a bit! only a small increase in performance but yeah when compared to core 2 duo or pentium 4 !! yeh its super fast

  • Stay calm people.

The integrated graphic chip could not even run the game this smooth if the graphics were turned down. It is considered to speed up things like video coding and converting.

If you want to play new generation games, you still need a separate GPU.

  • @Neeverseen

Hmm? It can run ME2 at 1280x720 and high settings no problem.

  • @Usul573

a shitty 50$ gfx card can run ME2 at 720 using high settings... I know cause mine did!

  • @SurvTheAbst

Proves a lot of games don't need much graphics power XD

and that many might not need any more power than they do now

  • onboard graphics is a joke..

  • @pioneerz450

They're going to run rampant over gaming at some point.

Cheap, compact, energy efficient systems that can game.

  • if sandy bridge doesn't use as much power would that mean they should run cooler too?

  • not throwing my GTX580 away lol

  • i just have sandy balls....but I can imagine my next mobile phone playing crysis.

    we're getting there :D

    great job intel

  • This guy's voice is annoying as hell.

  • My friend already have PC with Sandy Bridge..

  • i think the discrete graphics looks better...this will never replace graphics cards

  • intel = amazinnng!!!!!!!

  • the true test would be loading a garrys mod map that takes forever

  • I LOVE INTEL !!!!!

  • @AppleHoden I hate intel intregated graphic

  • ya they cheated they changed the field of view on the sandy bridge gpu so that it didn't need to process as much data

  • @sm1tty5569 True, that's a bit crappy :S Not too much in it though...

  • @sm1tty5569 agree

  • @sm1tty5569 Field of view uses more memory not recources!

  • @sm1tty5569 what do you mean? like i remeber the performacne demo for cinebench they had the 1st gen i7 clocked at am measly 1.3ghz and the 2nd gen clocked at 3.0ghz!@

  • @sm1tty5569 go and read about sandy bridge then come and say they are cheating, they change the view but not for that rason you told about, and dont forget It is Intel man INTEL

  • Sandy bridge GPU (12 EU version) performs much better than previous generation, and it is faster than any of the current AMD IGP.

Go and check anandtech review for i5 2400

  • i truthfully think the i7 looks better hahahahahaha fail intel, fail

  • @MyNameIsConnorC did you even look the video? the diference is the efficiency the both of them work,

the i7 grabs more electricity redneck in case you didnt understand

  • @AdolphX asshole. im not a fucking redneck, i dont care if the i7 takes more electricity, i could care less, the laptop im getting for christmas has an i5 in it. stfu. and learn proper grammer asshole. it should be did you even look at the video. fuck off

  • @MyNameIsConnorC lol....redneck

  • Comment removed

  • @AdolphX even if i was a redneck, i would still have more of a life than you, what do you do all day? Sit at your computer making anime shit? ok. have fun with that.

  • @MyNameIsConnorC lol.......redneck hahaha

  • sandy handy brand panties. boner. uncomfortable mass erection demo. can anyone tell the difference?

  • Oh, please, Intel. Don't show us frame rates, or tell us the system specs of either system, and then ask us "Can you tell the difference." Sure, right. Completely fair. And we're all such dumb suckers that we will, of course, fall for it.

  • @FuckYouLetMeLogIn

Don't think of Intel as a single consciousness though.

I think the rest of Intel didn't like this demo and the guy himself admitted it was dumb.

Plus, this was well before it was finished so they didn't want to show exact numbers, and they didn't want to show exact specs because it wasn't done and they didn't want to favor/attack AMD/Nvidia.

Just wanted to give a peak.

  • THe one on the right has less shadows.. actually I've played mass effect 2 on pc and 360 and the 360 version has less shadows like you see on here

  • They can show anything they like, and do.

  • fake! that discrete card must be a ati x300 or nv fx5500:D

  • @RizeAllard That was a pretty loud and proud "fake!" there. Are you so sure?

  • cool

    thanks

  • Who the heck would use the integrated graphics for gaming...seriously?

  • @Usul573

No matter how better it gets its not gonna be able to compete with discrete graphics cards.

Just put it in perspective, an nvidia gtx 460 has 336 cores dedicated to graphics processing. compared to what? A 4 core cpu?

  • @Usul573

Ok maybe the 460 is a bit high, the presenter said it was a mid range discrete.. so maybe in the line of the gts 450 which still has 192 cores of processors.

Im telling you, no integrated graphics will be able to compete with discrete in range of mid to high. Low end yes, higher than that no.

  • Comment removed

  • @iWearGlassesLOL Not me

  • This is going to provoke a response....

  • @GDIH100 no

  • at least this is a start, if they do plan to make this a commitment and all dedication then im pretty sure intel can have video cards eliminated and have ati or nvidia partner up with intel. but like i said... commitment (which i doubt they would get together on) and dedication (it is going to be hard to monopolize the gpu card business out despite the face now brands and chip sets have become more diverse [eg. XFX w/ ATi and EVGA w/ intel mobo's])

  • When will there be iMacs with Sandy Bridge processors?

  • Even if it is NOW integrated graphic outperform low to mid range discrete cards, in five to ten years time it will make all discrete cards obsolete. And that was what AMD clearly was understanding when they have bought ATI. And this what Intel perfectly understands. There simply no room for Nvidia in the 3D hardware market on the long run.

  • @drVitall All this video show is it can keep up with a 5450. A card that cost $50 dollar. I don't think that make it mid range card, more like a entry level. Mid range would be hd 5750 or gts 450. And in 5 years of time we might see Intel integrated gpu to perform like the current mid range card, but by then ati and nvidia would have already left intel IGPU far behind. btw there will always be a demand for Nvidia.

  • Comment removed

  • SGI also thought that no cheap 3D gaming chip would ever compete with specialized graphic workstations. But then come ATI and Nvidia - and after some time, the "pro" cards, basically same silicons but modified drivers made specialized workstations obsolete.

Same will happens with integrated graphics. Even if it is NOW could outperform low to mid range discrete cards, in five to ten years time they would make all discrete cards obsolete.

  • This is pointless....

  • I'm sorry but true gamers won't be fooled by this BS. No IGP on chip or off chip will be as good as a discrete gaming graphics card. I mean what were they comparing it to some low budget discrete 45 dollar graphics card? lol

  • Q4 2011 is a long time to wait. Did I make a mistake by getting a Core i7 930? Should I have waited until the Sandy Bridge?

  • @youngdones im pretty sure the 930 will last you till the generation after the next gen of gaming. its not all about the cpu (if were talking gaming), there is room for much better gpu cards, upgraded ram, and now the solid state drive (when they become affordable) are starting to play a part of performance. you system still has what console gaming wont have for a loooong time. your system should be fine for a while. till then, start saving up for your next gen build :)

  • Im planning to have a i3 build and I wonder if I should wait for the release of Sandy Bridge so that by then, i3's would be cheaper. Then I would upgrade my i3 to i7.

  • @Billabongs122988

i7 875k i would propose (unlocked and many posibillities to increas power afterwards and the price-performance is very good)

  • @Billabongs122988

The i-cores will not get any cheaper anytime soon. Theyll probably get a $1 price cut max.

  • current i7s will be phased out next year.

  • What about price of sandy bridge processor

  • Sandy Bridge will debut as Socket 1155 (for P65 motherboards) -and- then Socket 2011 (for x68 motherboards with quad channel RAM).

  • im definitely gonna wait for the sandy bridge chips, not b/c of this shiittty demo(lol) but cause of its performance, cost, and smaller die size.

  • is this sandy "balls" for the lga 1366? or a new one?

  • @ashrocks87 New socket. 1556 and 1155 I think. Not sure

  • @auron508

and im itching to get an i7 build...

  • discrete graphics could be anything :U

  • AMD had balls to show exactly their Llano on a game that is actually MOVING, not idle

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • ok i concede, Llano is a lot more awesome than sandy bridge in this sense.

+1 to AMD in giving a moving demo.

  • I'll only be convinced if they manage to play crysis on their IGP. They didn't even name the "discrete graphics" they were using

  • Comment removed

  • @Usul573 the GMA HD? It gets ~20 fps on low settings, at 800x600 res. Barely playable.

  • Comment removed

  • I cant find the proud to show a game idle video even though from the beggining i choosed the left video (discret graphic) to have better and smother image quality, specially around the edges of the guy, plus the left one was to way less boobleheaded

  • I prefer what AMD is working on because it's better.

  • @Scott97169 Far better, Liano forever

  • ^sorry for double post, but I can't help not saying this:

who the hell in their right mind would compare a Cell (even a castrated one at that) to Sandy Bridge? Unless you're going HPC, if you're comparing this in a gaming context there's not much of a point.

  • ^ that's the whole point. You're comparing discrete vs integrated graphics. The demo's point is that their new integrated graphics is on par with current discrete graphics (although I wonder what discrete chip they're using).

Although you can still kinda see the Sandy Bridge system is still isn't as smooth - but still WAY better than previous intel integrated graphics anyway.

Couple this with Optimus (or Optimus-like) technology and this would really be awesome

  • i dont really see a big difference

  • whos gonna dump an i7 system for this? why is the mid range sandybridge socket 1155 and not compatible with 1156? by one pin seriously wtf?

  • @UberPanzer666 you can file down the extra pin and it will then be compatible with your p55 board.

  • They should have added some interactivity.

  • What is the discrete graphics that was used for core i7 ?

By the way, I'm very surprised to see an Intel IGP running mass effect 2

  • THAT'S cool but Atom needs these graphics not sandy bridge.

  • good vid, I liked it.

  • PS3's Cell would destroy Sandy Bridge. I can't imagine Sandy Bridge or AMD Fusion running Uncharted 2. Once again Sony wins.

  • @jprincehouston actually the i7 has unbelievable processing power.

  • @jprincehouston

    Just for information

your stupid PS3 using nVdia discrete GPU to render your stupid uncharted 2

and this sandybridge and AMD liano use their integrated GPU to render 3D game

  • I don't know what is going on, nor do I care but that graph was retarded. There wasn't a number that I could see. They could have been reduced down to make it look like it had a massive difference.

  • the sandy bridge machine without GPU...and the other using i7 and GPU

  • what is this?
