  • It's because he pulled him in front of him i think.

  • I think this could have gone either way. The rule includes penalties for *inside the jersey and *inside the pads. If the refs don't believe his hand was inside the jersey, it's not horsecollar. Also, the rule is more for when players are brought immediately *down and *back.

@chubby- know your history before you say things. players have definitely broken legs when tackled using the horsecollar. 2 in one game actually- donovan mcnabb and TO in 2004.

  • that is not a horse collar as unclesam6 said you have to get in the pads that is a good call and anyone who thinks it isn't that is because you don't know the game

  • it is a horse collar if the person that got the back of his shoulder pads or jersey grabbed, has his legs buckled and consequently fall on his back. This is a very dangerous way of tackling that has caused injuries, the same reason grabbing the facemask is a penalty if the person being tackeld is spun and falls forwards its not a horse collar.

  • need to really GET IN the pads for it to be a horse collar. it was really close, but it looked like he got more jersey than anyhting else.

  • your not even aloud to grab the jersey and pull them down like that

    bad officials

  • seen it yesterday! lets chat

    looking for friends So

  • ANY GUYS UP?

i cant watch this video f7

  • that is the most stupid rule ever imo

  • he grabbed his jersey not the pads so its not a horse collar

  • omg..if anyone that sees this thinks that is a horse collar is either a stupid dumb fu#$ that prob never held a football in their life, or is just not familiar with the game...

  • the NFL needs to get rid of the horse collar rule, ITS FOOTBALL LET THEM TACKLE EACH OTHER

  • idiot, let some1 hourse callar u and see how u like it, and btw when u in the hospital wit a broken ankle im gonna lauph so hard...

  • first off just because some people have been injured doesn't make it a bad form of tackling, it's not like your ankle will snap cuz someone grabbed the back of your pads. I personally horsecollar tackle whenever I have the chance... Gotta love college football :)

  • I hope you get what karma has for you. Horsecollar is horrible. moron

  • you believe in Karma haha your the moron, you believe in God too? dumb ass

  • Horse collar rule applies to open-field tackles.

  • A horse-collar is also defined as grabbing the back of the jersey of the ballcarrier/receiver/passer/returner and pulling him BACK. McCown was pulled FORWARD, so technically, it wasn't a horse-collar.

  • i hated mccowan. they should have played Garcia!!!! COMMON BUCCS!!!!

  • That was a game that Garcia was actually out with the back injury. There was no choice.

  • @RumaldoC garcia blows

  • it wasnt a horse collar because he didnt pull him down from behind...dude went off to the side

  • Simple... he grabbed the jersey and not the pads.

  • not necessarily, it depends what year this was in.

  • it was this season. wether it was the jersey or not.. it's still a horse coller.

  • wether it was the jersey or not.. it's still a horse coller.

  • Exactly. Rule was amended in 2006 to include the jersey; I think that was done to close a loophole in the rule. There still are some loopholes, for example, pulling the guy forward, or doing a horse-collar inside the tackle box near or behind the line of scrimmage.
