Nice one Phil as always. Are network rail really going to put fences up? Surely not. I always thought this part of the Great Western route was listed.
Apparently, Network Rail don't need to apply for planning permission and can 'alter' listed structures if they seem fit too. I must stress this is only a rumour (quite a widespread one though) so don't hold me to it. =D
Phwoahhhhh, look at the King of kings passing through Sydney Gardens, a classic location for a steam loco! I was just around the corner from you mate on the stretch at Bathampton, my video is on here now she was absoutely giving it some along there, basically like in this vid but she obviously gained alot more speed on the stretch... Fantastic work mate great to see a video from this location from you, seems different to be at Sydney Gardens rather than more of a landscape shot, Cheers 5*
I'll have a look at your vid. =D It's a shame the microphone doesn't do justice the real sound of the thing. She weren't hanging about! I've been to Sydney Gardens before twice. Once for Bittern which was crap, and once for Oliver Cromwell, but couldn't be arsed to film it cos Mr Oldham were! =P Love the location though, shame they're apparently gonna put railings up! =O
I thought the sound was an awesome aspect of your video, really made it for me. Stuck the headphones on and cranked the volume up. It must have been stunning if you reckon that doesn't do it justice.
Very nice indeed, and coming from a Southern man, that says something :)

Lovely clip Philip, what a shame if Network Rail put their hideous railings up in Sydney Gardens.

Is that the train number on the front of the boiler?
trainapproaching 2 years ago
Indeed. 473 was the Bristolian headcode.

Sensational vid! Reminds me of the old Hornby train set boxes (that's Hornby O gauge!).
I did think 'The Bristolian' used to run via Bath, but I could be wrong.

Was spectacular indeed! The Bristolian ran via Badminton and Wooton Bassett, but it may have gone via Bath if it was 're-routed'.
