what happened? why did he suddenly head further downwind and then try to sheet in (or uncleat)? did he get a gust or wave or just lose concentration? At 1:56 he seems to have lost his tiller and drifted too far downwind then overcompensated and jerked the helm back upwind too quickly. Maybe he just tried to tail the main with is tiller hand and lost his heading (I do this sometimes and drift off course briefly) Looks like a good day though.
at 1:55 there's apparently a gust and if you look closely at his tiller hand: he seems very surprised by the gust and is trying to move the tiller onto the other side but he's holding it way too short. Then he tries to "flip" the tiller over to his side in which case *pushing it* would have yielded the desired result; getting the bow back into the wind. But as the "tiller flip" didn't work (you can see how he's fidgeting around with it) he now "instinctively" pushes the tiller and effectively...
...makes the whole situation worse as can be clearly seen in the following seconds. :D
This is when a "conditioned reaction" (in this case: *pushing* the tiller lee-ward to move the bow of the boat *into* the wind) takes over in a moment of 'anxiety' where "rational/thoughtful behavior" would have been required but could not be enacted as you're in a "reaction"-situation.
you can see at 1:56 right before the boat falls over that he is actually *rationally realizing* the situation/his previous mistake and jerks the tiller over behind his back.

This guy is very good, awsome, sailor. I find it very nerve racking reaching like that, you did an amazing job, big swells and wind.
