these are just actresses, real oiran use their real hair much like maiko but they're only five oiran officially left in yoshiwara,

and they only paint their bottom lip like the maiko but its permanent that they have this; they also have black teeth and the front of their collar is turned over to show the red underneath- i am not sure of the significance of this.

There are oiran nowadays but they don't do the whole prositute thing anymore. Just the artist part like a geisha.

Wow, they are so unique. I have never seen those clothes and dress style before. I just started learning about geisha (maiko-geiko) a while back, then I heard about the oiran.
