I think the war on drugs (and the CSA) are terrible. They do far more harm than good, both to drug addicts (treatment options are restricted while jails fill up) and to pain / anxiety sufferers (controlled med Rx's from doctors are under intense scrutiny and the patients are often treated poorly by medical staff).
I have chronic myofacial pain, chronic daily headaches with migraines, and occipital neuralgia.
I have been through ten different neurologists in the past four years. They all undertreated my pain. I lost my job of six years because I was in so much pain.
I became very depressed and suicidal. I cut my wrist.
I went to a methadone clinic and told them I was an addict. Methadone is excellent for pain. It is the only reason I am alive today.
A lot of pain patients went thru a methadone clinic. Thankfully, methadone became legal for pain treatment in the late 90s. Before then, it was so highly regulated that even your doctor couldn't prescribe it.
I know things are bad but they are much better now than they were in the 80s and 90s when most pain clinics had "non-opioid" policies.
The fact you can now get a prescription for effective meds means things are changing. Good luck.

I was left with a broken tibia fibia and denied pain medication and right now a friend of mine who is dying of spinal cancer is denied pain pills
