  • It's Vietnam! Not China, not Korea, Not Japan. Vietnam - A Diffirent Orient!

  • tuyệt vời!

  • It's interesting that both China and Korea have a very similar fan dance to the Vietnamese one.

  • @dantepaz1977

Who are you to tell a culture that their practices are not as good as your own. This just shows ignorance. I am just saying, ayaw kong makiaway

  • we call it abanico in the PHILIPPINES we use it when the weather is very HOT!!!!

got thet it is usually made from the leaves of Anahaw Scientific tem is Levistona rotundifolia and it is wooven artisticaaly got that?

In my country a lot of beautiful dances using this pan, and your dance is not as good as our own dances in the philippines cause it requires skills to use it not just by simply holding it.

  • Common your guys. Civilization of a country came from many places, mixed and remixed. It is not important the where it came from. See what of Japanese civilization and technoloies, they borrowed from China, Korea, Western Countries, but they refined it, and make it unique. They have no problem to acknowledge it. Why? They are very proud people, they have no inferior complex like us...

Xin loi nhe qui dan anh, em chi muon gop chut y kien thoi

  • First of all, China is only a name of a country with many races, many difference languages. Long time ago, there were two hundred countries in China just like Vietnam, Korean, japan. All those countries were slowly conquered by a Han king.

Luckily VN, Korean and Japan were not.

But VN lost a lot of land to China (QuangXi, Quangdong). Its people has to moved South establish in a new country.

  • later the southern chinese ppl create a new language which combine of viet language and a southern chinese language called Toisanese, the new language is now called cantonese, that y when i watch cantonese movie i find a lot of cantonese words r similar to viet, if u read about cantonese dialect is said that cantonese dialect is called "Yue", which is Viet, Yue and Viet sound similar right ?

  • so viet doesnt come from chinese, is other way around, chinese come from viet

  • Alright... But how do you think the Viet Kingdom came about? Who were the first people that started it? Were they rebellious Chinese peoples?

  • So, was the viet kingdom was before or after the first chinese kingdom started?

  • of course the viet kingdom was start before the chinese came, Van Lang, Hong Bang dynasty, Thuc dynasty and then the chinese came, if u want to know more i can give u a site to read more about our history

  • Sure... Please do so. I'll also be doing extra research myself to make sure. =)

  • a lot of viet wanna be part of east asian that y thay said they come from chinese, just like u, viet doesnt come from chinese, viet come from china, that a huge different, chinese is a race, and china is a land and viet sound like cantonese becuz cantonese language from viet, go read about cantonese language, is said cantonese is Yue dialect

  • I never said that I am part Chinese. You're assuming things again. Vietnamese does comes from Chinese. I've already told you why.

  • u r those viet that shame to be southeast asian and wanna be east asian that u say viet come from chinese, and how the fuck do u know viet come from chinese ? do viet got chinky eyes like them ? and how do u know viet culture come from chinese ? u just make stupid guess, maybe chinese culture come from viet, just becuz china is a bigger country doesnt mean they all viet culture come from chinese

  • It's not a guess. It's just using common sense, as I've said before. I see that you're very touchy about the subject for some reason. But not everyone is like that, sayin' they're chinese, but they can't speak the language. I said that Vietnamese culture is an alternative form of Chinese culture. I could tell that you're not very good in English and cannot read what I'm typing. Please refrain from making me repeat things, please.

  • Actually, I speak fluent Japanese. Japanese and Korean are Ural-Altaic languages. Chinese is a Sinitic language. Japanese and Korean did not come "originally from China" as you state. Perhaps you need to use your common sense and study more about East Asian history and culture. I am non-Asian; all Asian languages do not sound the same to me. You shouldn't stereotype or make blanket statements about "all non-Asian people" :-)

  • bryan10011mc u need to stfu, this is not the only dance that us vietnamese ppl have, we have a lot of other dance too

  • No, if you've used your common sense, then you would know that everyone came from one couple, Adam and Eve. Sorry for bringing religious things into this but, it's common sense. Where did us humans came from in the first place? Obviously, one mother and one father. Slowly, the human race had to get bigger, and some of us went to China. Then some people in China went to Vietnam, Japan, etc. The languages sounds alike for a reason. Plus, sorry for bein' a little stereotype-ish, the eyes.

  • It's nice that you could tell that not all Asian languages sounds the same, but you're wrong that Japan & Korea did not originally came from China. I think you actually need to use your common sense and study more about East Asian history & culture. Obviously you have failed to noticed the similar writings/literature of the languages.

  • Neither the Japanese nor the Korean language came "from China". As for the writing system, the Japanese use Kanji, which is based on Hanzi. The Koreans once used Hanja, also based on Hanzi, but now predominantly use Hangeul.

    :-)

  • You like saying "common sense" a lot don't you...

Noooo....The languages of China and Japan do not sound alike, at all. The only thing they have in common is use of Chinese characters.

  • No, I don't. I just wanted to say it back at you since you said it back to me.

  • What makes it "Vietnamese"??? It look exactly like the silly Chinese fan dances...

  • actually i also seen this type of fan dance in korean, filipino, japanese, and thai

  • Exactly. So let's see something that is unique to Vietnam.

  • Then what makes the other "Chinese" dance "Chinese"? It's just a fricking damce so you either enjoy it or don't comment at all.

  • I think it's amateurish and silly. If you'd like to see beautiful culture, look at some Japanese Kyoto Geisha dance (miyako odori). Those dancers are trained professionals.

  • Dude, it's a dance. And they're just kids. I'm sure they tried hard and practiced a lot in the dancing. No matter how bad it looks, they took the time to practiced. If you can't respect that, then I can't see why you could even respect the Japanese Kyoto Geisha dance. I'm sure they take the dancing more seriously, but a dance is a dance. Dances take a lot of practices. It's nice that Geisha dances do more practices, but these people practiced too. Respect that.

  • It sounds really weird for a Vietnamese person to say "Dude".

  • Sorry, but I'm Vietnamese American.

And for your other comment: That's what exactly I was talking about. I'm so sorry I wasn't clear enough.

  • Well, Vietnamese culture did evolve from Chinese culture... Why don't you just use your common sense, please?

  • OK...so are they copying Chinese culture?

  • No, they're not.

Vietnamese people came from Chinese people. So, in other words, this dance pretty much has to be alike to a Chinese fan dance too.

Same thing with language. To other non-asian people, all asian languages sounds the same. That's because Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, ETc, originally came from China. No one's copying anything. It just evolved, and changed a little to make up their own cultures.

  • mzwhat, ur a fucking idiot, viet ppl doesnt come from the chinese, u faggot, if u wanna be chinese then just say it, viet dont even look like chinese, and if u dont know some chinese culture r acutally come from vietnam, chinese r chink and ugly viet r much better

  • GuardianDemonX, you're obviously immature. I'm just telling you that all Asians came from China before and then slowly sprended out and adopted, but sorta altered the Chinese culture a little. And no, I don't want to be Chinese. If all Chinese people are like you, then I'm certainly glad that I'm not Chinese. You're basically giving me a bad image of Chinese people.

  • mzwhat, u r extremely dumb, other ethnic come from china doesnt mean their chinese, do u know how many ethnic group r there in china ? there at least over 87 ethnic group in china, and back then china wasnt form as a country yet, back then china was still a multiple kingdom, and do u know that back then vietnam own a big kingdom in southern china ? is call "Van Lang" then later is call Nanyue, and im chinese

  • Dude, please use your common sense. Perhaps they didn't write it down?? Before, the only important thing there was, was just to survive. They didn't have paper to say "We traveled down to Vietnam, and developed a vietnamese culture".

  • wtf r u talking about, they didnt write it down what ? and what make u think viet come from chinese ? the chinese didnt write it down either, u think viet come from chinese becuz ur a chinese wanna be, i see alot of viet saying their half chinese but they cant even speak the language, ur probaly one of them wanna be, viet say they come from the chinese cuz they want to fit in with the east asian, they wanna be part of east asian

  • I know Vietnamese people came from Chinese because I'm using common sense.

No, I'm not being a Chinese wannabe. I've also told you the reason why too, on the other post. They're probably telling the truth that they're half and can't speak the language since they live in America & lost it. You can't blame them.

Dude, you got problems... Stop hating on people who aren't acting like wannabes. They're just simply saying that their mom or dad was chinese and the other was viet.

  • LOL, i can read and speak english better then u, my english is more influence more then ur ass, and how u know viet culture come from chinese culture ? u just guess or using wikipedia ?

  • For the third time, I said that I used common sense. That's how I know that Viet culture is from Chinese culture.

You must be a 10 year old boy, who's obviously immature, and very offended by this video. If you don't like this video, please don't comment on it.

The reason I said that your english is bad is because that I had to repeat my answer like 3 times already.

  • im not 10, im 20 and ur a dumb ass, and i never offended by this video dumb ass, im offended becuz u say viet come from chinese which we r not, maybe u but not me, u fucking chinese wanna be

  • I agree with bryan10011mc. The reason why I say you're not good in English is because you have horrible grammer. Let me fix it up for you

"I was never offended by this video, dumb ass. I'm offended because you said that Vietnam came from China".

Well, even if you are 20, I believe that you are certainly a fob who's hating on other asian people? I don't know what's wrong with you, but I think you might be mentally ill, just as bryan10011mc says.

  • i got horrbiel grammer ? dude is call short hand writting, becuz this is internet, i dont wanna type full word becuz it make my finger tired dumb ass, and no i dont hate on other asian, but by the way u talk u sound like a chinese wanna be, if u wanna be chinese then go ahead but dont drag in other viet with ur fucking ass, do u see bryan10011mc, he proudto japs and never think japs come from chinese, but u think viet come from chinese becuz u wanna part of east asian

  • How do you know if I talk like a chinese wanna be? You're reading what I'm typing out. How do you know my voice's tone in my head when I think about what to type out? You're just assuming that I'm a chinese wannabe without any proof. Japanese does come from Chinese. Their writing system is the same.

  • To me, as a Westerner, Vietnamese sounds very similar to Cantonese (Yue).

  • *cough* Exactly what I was talking about with GuardianDemonX. All asian cultures came from one original one, which is obviously the biggest one, China.

  • PS: My message about being crazy was to GuardianDemonX!

  • Yeah, I know.

  • I have to say, Mzwhat is correct for the most part. Chinese civilization influenced to a large degree the cultures of Korea, Japan, and Vietnam (Buddhism, originally from India, Taoism, Confucianism...the arts, literature, dance, song etc...) Nevertheless, these countries do have their own original traditions. That's why my first question was, LET'S SEE SOME ORIGINAL VIETNAMESE DANCE!

  • They don't have exact original traditions, though. Some things from some other asian cultures & Vietnam are just copied from the huge original country, China. That's why this dance is exactly like a Chinese one. There are some other original Vietnamese dances, but is it like against the law to copy a fan dance? Maybe some moves are the same but isn't it pretty much an asian dance?

  • vietnamese ppl use to have a big kingdom in southern china so y dont u say chinese use to be part of vietnamese ? just like how the chinese come said they from tibetan, intsead tibetan come from chinese, tibean is acutally a smaller nation then chinese so how come they didnt say tibetan come from chinese ? u see mother fucker, ur a chinese wanna be, chinese probaly come from vietnamese

  • I'm not sure what you're trying to prove now. But alright, if you want to say that Chinese came from Vietnamese, then that means that Vietnamese people aren't copying from the Chinese culture. There, we've just solved the problem. Vietnamese is not copying the Chinese culture, it's the opposite.

  • I've already told you that you're making wrong assumptions. You're not using your common sense either. I'm not a Chinese Wanna be, in fact if all chinese people are like you. Then I'm glad I'm not chinese!! People would think I'm as mentally retarded as you!

  • wtf r u talking about ? im not even chinese im viet, and ur a chinese wanna be, viet doesnt look like chinese at all, ur dumb ass if u said viet come from chinese, viet and chinese doesnt look the same, open ur eyes and look chinese and viet ppl around they dont look the same, u keep saying viet r chinese cuz u wanna be chinese, u wanna be east asian, i see a lot of viet wanna be part of east asian that they said they come from chinese

  • I've already told you. Alright, whatever you say. Viet doesn't look Chinese, but Viet & Chinese are related in some way. I don't know how because I wasn't born when the world first started.

And another thing, you shame all Vietnamese people! Why are you even here posting rude things about your own culture?

  • I believe I've already told you why I'm not a Chinese wannabe in one of my older comments below.

I'm Vietnamese, too. I'm not one of those viets who are wannabe chineses, though. I don't see the point in lying. It's against my religion, anyways. Plus, Asian is Asian, what's the difference? I don't see what's the huge difference in east asia and west asia.

  • ur a dumb ass then, if u look at east asian they r more lighter skin and southeast asian r actually brown skin, they r darker then easta asian, viet r southeast asian too, but viet r not dark as other southeast asian

  • Alright, so now you're being racist to skin colors?

Well, whatever, I've already said my points. Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, were originally from the big country China. They scattered out probably because the population has gotten too big. I know because it's using common sense. Everyone came from one father and one mother originally. There, that's all I have to say. I don't care if you disagree with me anymore.

  • and how do u know that ? u was there back in the day ? dont guess if u dont know, jpanaese, korean, vietnamese look nothing like chinese, dont guess that they come from chinese become of the culture is similar, every country in europe use latin alphabet, so r they all come from Rome ? no, ur just a dumb ass who keep on guessing stupid stuff

  • Haha! You're asking the same questions. I'll answer your question by telling you to scroll down or read my previous comments before. I've already answered your questions already.

  • have u ever read about viet history at all ? if u do then who is the Trung sister ?

  • I've Read and been taught about Viet History.

I'm pretty sure that they rebelled against China because they don't like the system or government or wanted freedom. Either way, I'm more than certain that their great-great-great (add about 1000-2000 "great"s) grandparents were Chinese.

  • how do u know they r chinese ? if they r chinese y r they fighting for viet ppl then ? and yes they r the one who rebel the chinese becuz the chinese raise tax, and after they defeated them chinese, the viet use their victory date to celibrate women holiday, after that the chinese copy that women holiday, so i want to tell u that some of chinese culture also come from viet, if u go to china right now u see the chinese still women holiday today, some chinese culture r also copy from viet too

  • Okays, good. Thanks for finally agreeing with me. You've finally opened your eyes.

  • so u see not every viet culture come from chinese, but some chinese come from viet also, the chinese also did copy some viet opera as well, u should know this, viet use to own a big kingdom in southern china, u should know this too, so y not say chinese come from viet ? if u look at cantonese ppl, they also have bigger eyes like viet, but the Han chinese have chinkier eyes and more slanted eyes then southern chinese, so maybe southern chinese come from viet

  • I don't get what you're saying anymore, but I'll just agree anyways.

  • im saying that u think all viet culture come from chinese right and u think viet ppl come from chinese also, so as i say, southern chinese ppl probaly come from viet, u never know, chinese culture influence viet doesnt mean viet ppl come from chinese, cuz viet ppl use to own a big kingdom in southern china, like i said many time before, that old viet kingdom was called "Van Lang" and "Nanyue", southern chinese come from Yue which mean Viet

  • And you haven't answered my questions yet. Seems like you're finally admitting I'm correct. And no, I'm not asking if I'm winning. I'm saying I've won this pointless debate. The answer was pretty much obvious in the beginning. You can't seem to use your common sense.

  • He's not being "racist to skin colors"... It just so happens that different parts of Asia produce people of different pigments...I'm Vietnamese, and that's common knowledge among most Asians. Not a matter of offense. Cambodians, Viets, etc tend to be darker.

  • Yah, I know that cambodians and Viets are usually darker...

  • Sorry bryan, but the more you speak, the more clueless and ignorant you sound...as much ignorant as the idiots who perceive that all Asians have skin/hair like Chinese and think therefore all Asians came from Chinese. These "fan dances" are common in many ethnic groups in Asia, not just the Chinese...even some minorities in VN who have been living isolated on mountains for centuries with no Chinese influence have these fan dances...(continued below)

  • (continued) They're called fan dances because fans are used to dance in these dances. Fans are commonly used in Asia for decoration, from countries like Thailand, Cambodias, Laos to countries like Japan and Korea. It's no wonder to see that fan dances exist in so many ethnics in Asia. Even a kid can pick up a fan and whirl around (which forms the basic movements of fan dances). Also keep in the mind that the Chinese culture itself is a mixed of many cultures as someone said bc...

  • along time ago in China there were many kingdoms ruled by different groups of people (ethnics), then they were all conquered by the Han and their culture was incorporated into the mainstream Han culture. If you see similarity between Chinese and some other Asian ethnic, don't hastily assume that the other Asian ethnic got it from the Chinese. Just as how Chinese culture is mixed, Viet culture is also a blend of the Au Lac and the Han, and recently with the Cham, Khmer, and other minorities.

  • You are crazy. You must be mentally ill, using the kind of language that you do. You should be ashamed of yourself, and your parents should be ashamed of you.

  • oh my god, as if english is his first language...

  • Again, please use your common sense! I practically answered this question with my first reply.

  • oh never mind.. hehe i didn't read it carefully where it was at.. wowo i likes to go see them

  • where in hue was this fan dance locate at do you know???

  • Wow! Never realized that fans could be so beautiful in dance!

  • wow this is pretty good...u guys shuld type in elites and dvvc...i watched one of their videos and its pretty good too

  • i didnt say it was chinese you moron. i said it was chinese influenced. learn to read you uneducated prick.

  • whoa calm down.

  • I'VE BEEN THEREEEEEE :D

  • WOW :O

  • SO BEAUTIFUL

  • good thing im not asian otherwise id look like my friend lisa

  • you can definately see alot of the chinese influence in this.

  • @insanerhapsodist Actually how do you know it's 'Chinese' and not 'Vietnamese' based? Who influenced who?

Both people have lived in the region for a very long time.

In fact if you look up the history of Vietnam you're realise that Vietnamese people used to own Quangdong.

  • Absolutely beautiful =)

  • this is such a nice dance. I wish that I could have seen the whole dance though. Maybe this will give the kids at church ideas for next year's dance.

  • i got to dressed like an emperor and sat on that throne and took picture when i was there.

  • finally an AUTHENTIC viet dance vid >_< there are so many on utube that are soooo not traditional. this is pretty but I wish it was longer

  • Shoot I like. it the same move my sis did in viet church

  • graceful

  • cool
