  • It almost sounds like an American Folk Song called "O Death".

  • Irish and Indian Classical Voice; Hindustani or Carnatic have everything in common. The only thing that is different (other than the accompaniment) is Irish music isn't improvised these days as often. Indian is all about the improvisation. The scales/ ragas/ modes can be compared easily. At least , my Indian Marayati teacher from Pune, who is an expert on Hindustani Music tells me so. I trained extensively in Western Classical, Jazz and born in Nova Scotia singing in Gaelic. Just saying.

  • India is not Arabia......neither is it anywhere near Israel...people think it's all "the middle east" but it's not......

  • @pepelemieux2 what the hell are you talking about? india is south asia...

  • Mairéad is a fabulous singer and gorgeous as well. Go raibh maith agat Mairéad.

  • Barraichte ! *****

  • I would disagree about the similarity of indian and irish music.....irish has a distinct ornamentation....a play with the notes that is unlike indian singing. (I've lived in India and I am familiar with both Hindustani and Carnatic music). I have been singing both Irish and Indian music for about 30 years now and never have found a single similarity....neither in tunes, arrangement of notes (ragas) or even singing style. Indian singing is entirely different...

  • @lynnjimarie well both are modern interpritations so its irrelevent, and its related to arabic and hebrew more, gaelic singing and arabic dua singing are very simular

  • this video seems kinda creepy and stalker-ish, but i love the singing.

  • An-deas go deo.....

  • she's very pretty

  • Great voice, views & video, and your peers into the concrete pipes is very amplifying

  • A cappella na Gaeilge. Beautiful as it is soothing to my Celtic soul.

  • An mhaith go deo.. Ach. Whats the story with the wavin pipes?

  • The only thing wrong with this video is that it doesn't show Mairéad enough.

  • maith go leor....

  • Mo cheol thú!

  • Maith an cailin a Mhairead! Ta guth alainn binn agatsa, 'gus do dheinis "job" maith ag canadh an amhran alainn san.

  • Beautiful!
