  • Where were the Deists, the Pantheists & the Panentheists? Quit yer whining, us bitches are the real minority!! [Jest =D]. As a Deist myself, know that I've got your back on the big issues. The only thing I'd ask is that you don't shut down the philisophical side of the debate. Keep the door open & try not to be dicks. I've read the comments, so don't pretend you're not affiliated. Peace x

  • Thanks Jessie. It is very sad, indeed, and you are right about it being a Christian 100% of the time. Are you part of the group over there in Biloxi with Steve Schlict?

  • Well I joined the Atheist and Humanist groups on Meetup about 2 years ago, but I've only attended 1 meeting.

I need to get out more :)

  • Great video Blair. Your work is very, very appreciated. I hope you know that it means a lot to all atheist (or non-believers in general) that we are glad to have someone like you stand up for our side. And the only way to really and truly achieve world peace is if we collectively kill every single single religious person on Earth. I was thinking about beheading, but I am open for suggestion... Kidding, of course! Keep up the fantastic work my friend.

  • I don't proofread apparently.....

  • Thanks! Appreciation is always great to hear, but it is support like yours that is my real salary. If no one appreciated or supported what I did, it would be harder to find the motivation.

  • many people, including myself, consider islam to be a threat to their personal security. ive received numerous death-threats and threats of violence from muslims, at the same time they want to take away my freedom of speech when it comes to criticizing islam. this now makes it impossible for me to join citizendium or facebook or stuff like that, because im really scared of my personal information getting out there.

  • ... continued

if this gets confirmed by more and more studies, then we need to get rid of the myth that only a small minority among muslims are fundamentalist. the truth might very well be that most muslims are close to being pushed over the edge, to feel offended or be indoctrinated in such a way that they commit atricities.

im quite sure we are dealing with a largescale destructive cult here, like a very big version of scientology or jehovas witnesses.

  • i think you didnt really take the opportunity to plant seeds of doubt, but maybe the context just didnt allow for it.

and... depending on your definition of fundamentalists, the result when it comes to islam might very well be that the majority of muslims are fundamentalists. there are some studies (for individual nations) that show that the majority of muslims consider acts like 9/11 to be justified. other studies show that the majority agrees with shariah law.

  • You are correct that the context did not allow it. Sometimes I wish we could drop the niceties. I agree with your account of Islam.

One of the questions I wanted to ask if we had more time was if anyone on the panel would be willing to stand up to Fundamentalism and denounce it publicly as was needed.

  • yes, standing up to fundamentalism is what is needed now.

right now, many catholics are standing up against the pope, because he rehabilitated some holocaust-deniers and antisemites from that brotherhood of st. pius X. a professor of theology at a german university politely asked to be fired, for example, our chancellor angela merkel asked the pope to clarify, theres a wave of people leaving catholicism, ...

i mean, sometimes it already happens. but when will this start to happen in islam?
