  • this is one of my favorites.

  • Thank You Kindly for the better video. I live this song!!

  • A big thank you to bcinc for uploading the stereo version of the video. Finally, someone gets it in the audio mastering department. There are several other videos for this song on here, but they suck because they're in mono usually with vilons missing on the right channel. Good job bcinc!!! Take care.

  • this song talk about the destruction of the homeland of the seminole tribe

  • awesome!

  • could someone explain to me the TRUE meaning of this song cuz i hear alot of different things!! THANKSSSS great song tho

  • It's talking about the destruction of the Seminole tribes homeland in Florida. Osceola (at 2:29) was a recognized Seminole tribesman.

  • @44Kiowa Osceola was actually a leader of the warriors who wanted to fight for his land. He fought with great tactics and bravery. He took on the government and was often outnumbered but still won every battle he fought. The only reason he was captured was a trick to discuss peace and that was how they lured him out of the Everglades.

  • this song rocks out loud!

  • love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not a big fan country but this is one of my favorte songs

  • this is one of those song that almost everyone listens to the whole thing

  • This is one of the most haunting songs ever. Love it.

  • Just as the camera spans the florida everglades in this video, my mind graces the lucent memories of my past as I hear this song. Country music has the coveted privilege of remaining timeless and powerful. And thats exactly what I feel when I hear this song. Oh how I remember where I was when I first heard this song. Thank you John..... From yours truly, an alligator in the dark.

  • Just as the camera spans the florida waters in this video, my mind caresses the edges of lucent memories in my past, of where I was in life at the time this song was released... Chills. More than a great song. Country music has the coveted capability of being timeless. Not many other genre's these days have that as a calling card anymore.... Thank you John

  • This song makes me cry sometimes, because it reflects so deeply the silent suffering of natives all around the world. Polynesia, SE Asia, The Americas...

It's like the dying whisper of an old friend, and it pains me deeply.

  • I cannot stop listening! Awesome!

  • I love this because it is original. But james taylors cover is amazing also...go check it out!

  • this is a great song yall there is no better video

  • John Anderson = Pure Country

  • Without a doubt! Counrty to the core. What a peaceful voice Huh????

  • This video fits the song perfectly with the fire and the danceing in the night...by far my favorite

  • John is just one of the greats...that voice unmistakable....

  • The best country song ever. Every part of this song sounds great, from John's awesome voice, to the piano and violin ( the style used blends both violin and fiddle), to even the banjo softly playing in the background.

  • Good song, i want it

  • Being a 5th generation Florida boy, I love this song. Much respect

  • Beautiful

  • I think this is one of the most beautiful and amazing songs around in any genre. Great music, a great story , and the perfect voice to tell it.

  • Easily one of the Top 10 Country Songs of the 1990's, and just as easily, it could be argued that this was the best!

  • These early morning sunrise camera shots just make me wanna 'FISH, FISH, FISH'..Way early till late dark...

  • I loved this song as a kid. Now that I'm older I respect and understand it so much more now. My heard goes out to the Native Americans... I'm sorry for what my people did to your lands.

  • no one can tell a story any better than John ive never met him but he seems to be a nice friendly person anyone know if thats true

  • he is, he performed at a fair in my state a couple years back and my parents said he was amazing, and very nice

  • This song is always in the back of my mind when I'm at Twister Airboats from the Lone Cabbage at the St.Johns river, 30 min west of Cocoa Beach.

    Great place, great song !!

  • He is one of the greatest. This song is chilling to me. Can anyone post "The Long Black Veil" by him. I think that it is an old Porter Wagoner song.John does it like Porter never could.

  • Those brief clips of the birds flying above the trees and over the lake was POWERFUL. Somehow it went straight to my heart.

  • Without a question. This is the greatest country song ever written. It tells a story. whether you like the words or not the song rules. Just listen to it. 7 stars .. out of 4. The Seminole wind is called a Hurricane!

  • I live in FL and this is a haunting beautiful song. There was very little wild FL left when John did this song originally, even less now. Even Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades are being taken over by the developers. But nature takes back her own. Hurricanes are chewing up the beaches and the condos are being condemed. This year has been especially bad. We had fires in the spring that ate up many acres. Then Tropical Storm Faye dumped a few feet of rain. We need to respect nature more.

  • I've always loved this song. Makes me miss Florida, particularly Tally-ho!

  • im not a seminole but i still like this song

  • seminole here, i remember when it came out and it was being played on campus. it's real special 2 me ;)

reminds me of my ancestors on the reservation

my grandmother's full chickasaw and so i'm 1/4

  • florida girl here..whos spent alot of time out in the everglades airboating and living and enjoying it all out there..LOVE this song..actually saw him in concert years back

  • me too

  • I forgot to say I have Choctaw heritage.

  • I LOVE this song! So beautiful and poignant.

    John Anderson rocks!

  • i'm cree and i love this song....

  • #1,GOOD

  • I love this song music and lyrics. I started country dancing last year and it's great to have this video. I think I'll use it in class with 4ème (third year of English) when we'll be studying the U.S.A.

  • I'm part Cherokee, this song touch's on a personel level

  • i have liked john anderson since i was 11 and swinging came out. this and wild and blue are my favorite songs of his. i am from central florida originally too. i went to fsu, and we kinda adopted it, especially during home coming. and then, i am part cherokee.

  • This is the song that they will play at John Anderson's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

  • John Anderson is under-rated. He does have the twang thing, but I love it. This song speaks to even those who don't like country

  • im native american but not seminole. im kiowa/cherokee

  • I really don't like country and I'm not Native American, but this song is awesome.

  • this is my favorite country song

  • Yeeehaaaw!!!

  • What a song. What a voice. What a video. We're proud of Florida's own son, the great John Anderson!

  • There are a few (rare) songs that are gorgously sang with truth...go Seminolesw
