Kode 9 - "I'll pick out the ones I like and he'll progress with those" / Burial needs to drop his exclusivity with Hyperdub so that he can release more... I guarantee Kode 9 looks past some serious growers, no A&R are perfect. I'm not saying all Burial should be released (although it would all sell), I'm just saying it seems MORE should.
@wirezts True. When Burial sent his music to A&R's they all turned him down. Now he's signed to Hyperdub, his 3rd 2009 TBA album is probrably sitting completed in Kode9's house, just that Kode9 is thinking like a business, and wants to continuously release material with no gaps. Much like how Computers & Blues got delayed by 2 years.
oh what i would give to just sit down with his hard drive and listen to all the samples he's never used, this guy is a god quite literally actually, he makes me feel more than god ever has
kode 9 played some new burial tracks recently and this was amongst them, hard to tell if it had changed much but sounded similar, maybe that means they still want to release it when they're good and ready? possibly his best ever tune
because Burial is so wonderful and frustrating at the same time. He's a perfectionist, so if it doesn't hit the spot for him then we fans can forget about ever hearing a full release.
@Nathfunk he's not a perfectionist at all mate. read his interviews on blackdown's blog, and the interview with him and kode 9, he's actually not at all a perfectionist. read the interviews bruv
Sooo huge !! Burial is a music God !! Excellent as he makes me dream with his sound !!! Maybe somebody has the song name please ??? It would be so cool !!
And I think that the man who speaks at 2:13 is the man who speaks in the Burial's "SPACEAPE" song, no ?? Maybe it's hiself ??
yeah i can definately understand how some people would like that but, the fact i can't find this track in it's orginal form detracts from it for me @booshpower
i think burial is overrated because of how unique he is, his style needs a breath of fresh air.... theres not much special about this tune, He has some iof the most awesome potential ever, but this right here isnt going to trick me, its just a burial tune
Your comment is contradictory. This track is amazing, Burial isn't overrated. You may think he's overrated because you dislike some tracks that people like, or you don't think the tracks as good as other people think it is. It's obvious you prefer some of his other material, maybe stuff without vocals, but for me this track's sick, as is all of Untrue...
Wow.. Never heard this one by Burial before. Incredible. Very rarely do you see him using full on vocals, he crafts such beautiful pieces of music. I love this one, really dancey and upbeat compared to his other tracks
Ohhh I wasn't being pretentious, just what struck me when I first heard it. I was expecting something a bit... more? rather than more of the same. nothing wrong with having high expectations after the last 2 records and eps were so good.
standard burial beat (probably from todd edwards) check, warbled 'emotional vocals they're so beatufiul etc etc'.. and the little sample in between, i couldn't help but find it a bit silly. untrue was great and all but an album full of this wouldn;t be any kind of progression, burial is getting a bit cheesy and urban-emo now and i hope he doesn't become that.
I'm not sure people understand how labor intensive it is to go digging for the right vocal sample, chopping every word to rephrase it, time stretching it to fit, and toning up and down to fit the melody. This is how producers work from the pre-auto tune era.
burial declares himself a 'non-musician'...yet the sense of melody here is absolutely sublime...especially at 0.42 and 1.26...this is already my favourite burial track...think this is going to be as big a step forward as untrue: and the first album was already stunning...the vocal here is frighteningly beautiful
I love everything from Burial.....This sound is just beyond the realms of any other producer out there at the moment.....So broken and completely impassioned.
I think "rushed" is the wrong term, Kode9 says here how Burial works, it's a spontaneous flow of fragments..
I fucking love burial, but do the out of tune vocals not piss anyone off? The pitch shifting is kind of a trademark but it sounds like he did this in about 5 minutes.
yeah, i thought the same thing at first. i listened a couple more times and fell in love with this clip. whether it was intentional or hurried, he made another great track
words do not describe... the energy...... the feeling.. emotions... darkness alive and well... something behind the system.. controlling us.. break free. get away..
dark street.. lights flickering.... things going wrong... looking at yourself in the broken mirror...
@droppedsoap thank you so much for this beautiful comment. comments like this, well written and thought out and poetic help me understand why i like art. now if only he would release this track without the djays talking. now on one hand, i like this comment above about how the djay talking, "to me it adds to the pirate radio feel along with the crackle and muffled sound" but for godsake the djay is talking over the most amazing fucking part!

I'm not sure people understand how labor intensive it is to go digging for the right vocal sample, chopping every word to rephrase it, time stretching it to fit, and toning up and down to fit the melody. This is how producers work from the pre-auto tune era.
