Well, the one who told you is not wrong. I guess that's the different between you and this person. This person must be educated in contrast to you, and I'am not saying that Herat once belonged to Iran. Because the name Iran existed about 80 years ago, and before that we all know Iran by the name of Persia. If you are herati u shoild know that Herat together with Samarqand, Bukhara and parts of Tajikistan belonged to Our big province Khorasan.

What is left of Khorasan? Not much, and its in eastern Iran and we still call it 4 Khorasan. Why u afghans change name of the provinces?? Because u know that Herat(Eastern Khorasan) once belonged to Safavidian dynasti (Persia) before the britions ripped it away from our nation and sold it to pashtuns who created a new nation: Afghanistan which means land of pashtuns. Afghan = Pashtun. U notice that u heratis have almost same accent as us mashadis and torbatis of Khorasan(GREAT IRAN ZAMIN)

Iran stands 4 land of iranic people (aryans), and Tajiks/persians, Kurds, Lors, bakhtiaris, pashtons, ossetians, Taleshis, Gilanis, balochis, Yaqnobis etc all are different tribes based on Iranic nations and all this people once lived in our great Persian empire. I know that we have ben in shadow of those bloody turks in more then 800 years, and yes its a shame 4 our nation. What I mean is that no bloody turk, pashton or arab can destroy the unity between us persians/tajiks in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Samarqand etc. Even the herati accent is like 93% similiar to my accent which is spoken in parts of Shiraz(Pars province), lori and bakhtiari dialects. Herati sounds just like bakhtiari/lori. We say "ye kine" in herati "ee kine" (who is this) etc
