Bad CALL not a foul because she touched the ball, but not double dribble becasue she touched the ball. That's a loose ball that was collected by the team in black. She could have even started dribbling it again and it would have been legal.
I cant believe ur gonna post a video hurting this guy for that 1!!!! come on...if he did not notice the tip from defender, he made a bad honest mistake which i can understand
defensive player hit the ball, no double dribble. Not seeing a technical foul everyone is talking about. If anything, should have been a foul. I referee, would have been a no call either way.
Yeah...definitely not worth getting a T..unless it was a close end-game situation. It's just hard to tell whether or not the defender interrupted the dribble. If she did...bad call. If she didn't, correct call.
Reach in foul? Since when is "reaching in" a foul? Try to find "reaching in" in the rule book. You never will. There is nothing illegal about reaching in - how else would a player get a steal? People who yell out "reaching in" and "over the back" continue to show their complete lack of knowledge of the game. Neither is a foul - they are made up terms by announcers to describe action. They ARE NOT fouls.
who ever made this video open your eyes and kingsman1288 is right refs dont have like special zoom vesion to see if its double or not their the scame as you and me
It looks as if she dribbed the ball with 2 hands and is why double dribble was called. It had nothing to do with the fact a girl from the opposing team touched it.
I think that is a tough call. On normal speed I thought it was clearly a double-dribble. But in slo-mo I can't be sure. I think the ref did alright on this one.
unless the deffender touched the ball yea duoble dribble... it does look like the deffender tips the ball away... orat least gets hand on it but it's well not that bit a deal... walk away and go on with the game and your life.
wrong look close the deffender get a hand on it... once that happens she can dribble again... plus the deffender is responsible for the ball comming out... watch in full screen in HD and it's clear... bad call by the ref
you are missing my point... the deffender touched the ball... if a person picks up thier dribble and the defender touches the ball... the person has the right to resume dribble...
Not unless the touch by the defender causes the offensive player to lose control of the ball. The defender simply touching the ball does not give the offensive player the right to dribble again.
I'm so going to have to use a telestrator and zoom to show the tip. Once again the coach protested the call for a Technical Foul and at least one person was ejected from he Gym. So, apparently the call is a VERY close one.
Secondary note, after the game the coach said to take that ref off the list for that area so there might be more to this than just this one call.
The ways some of the call were going in the first half he had every right to finally voice his frustrations. If I have to I'll post the whole game over on myspace.
Ref's do not have it easy. I don't care how training they have either.
It will eventually end up like Tennis where they have a computer hooked to the court to prove where the ball hit and eliminate human error and reinstate fairness. I don't know how they'll implement it in contact sports though.
You don't have to tell me we don't have it easy, I officiate basketball for a living. HS and some college ball. Basketball is bar none the hardest sport to officiate because of the speed of play and so much is based on judgment.
The fact of the matter is, no official will ever be 100% right. We're human, just as the coaches and players are.
So far AlexPicchietti is the one that saw what coach and I saw. The ball is tipped and the girl grabbed it with both hands to recover. The coach and I saw the same thing. Coach got a technical for it and one person heckled the ref to get thrown out of the Gym.

The defender is definitely not responsible for the ball bouncing unless she has some sort of superhuman strength. It is a clear two-handed dribble.

Coach didn't get kicked out a friend of he coaches in the stand did. He heckle the ref saying, "That's the only one you've got right so far."
It was just weird in that Gym that night.

I'd say that was a double dribble.

Illegal dribble. Even with the grainy footage, we've got a good angle. Maybe if it was an under 10s game it could be a foul.
mattk000 2 years ago
This video is in HQ so click to turn up the quality should eliminate some of that.

double dribble.

Easily double dribble. She ended the dribble by grabbing it with both hands, it slipped out, dribbled with two hands. Illegal.
