You see, there are many, many, many outstanding musicians who've come and gone and who are also still here. Then there are the one's who are simply elevated above. No, I did not, amigo; "Music Of.." came out in early 1972...and "Talking Book" (which I *did* purchase right upon release date) came out in late 1972.

For the record, I made it my *mission* to collect as many Motown LPs as could in the '70's 80's & 90's..I had a total of 1,500+ on ALL the labels (like Rare Earth, Soul, Tamla, Prodigal, Gordy, Hitsville, etc.) till they all died in a fire (Albuquerque, N.M.) in 1999.. :-(

Everybody says the Roger Troutman is the musician that brought the "vocoder" to R&B music. But, this song is the very first song that I've heard to use the "vocoder" Stevie was ahead of his time, and he doesn't get enough credit for his innovative usage of the vocoder!!
