One of the few songs that has not grown on me over time... didn't like it then and still don't. She hit those high notes and my dog got up and left the room.
Brasileira sim.
Wow! Those notes and in control of them. I remember they made such a big fuss about Mariah Carey hitting notes...and she didn't have this type of control (from what I remember).
it seems that there was not even a day without playing this tune on the radiio at that time. i was thrilled when i was watching this video. i felt i met an old friend of mine. anyway, great song.
beautiful. even the dress she is wearing, so feminine. sounds so old fart, but really, most female singers these days wouldn't be paid any attention if they just stood there and sang.
I remember watching this performance as a teenager and feeling so overwhelmed by its beauty and the talent of this incredible lady. It is so wonderful to see it again. Thank you, Minnie - the landscape of music has missed your presence, as they don't come more beautiful than you.
I remember this song from when I used to visit my dad and I must have been 4 /5 years old and remember how much I liked it then and liked her "bird" sounds and those awesome high notes and sadly just found out a few years back through wiki that she had battled cancer and passed from it in "79" RIP
I cant watch this video without crying. She was such a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. This particular performance is special to me because at the end, I get chills. She was so talented and its so sad that she passed at the prime of her life. <3
She passed away, she had cancer and at one point she was in remission but it ravaged her body. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong. Her husband is on you tube with Minnie speaking about her illness. Look up The Michael Douglas Show, anothr icon. Minnie is on his show talking about her illness
Beautiful song sung by a lovely singer. Everytime I see this performance it bring tears to my eyes because I never got the chance to see her in a live show. Minnie, you are missed.
When there are people around like lady gaga and cascada and all the other shit that there is nowadays it makes you wish for this sort of music back. Thats coming from a 19 year old. Would rather listen to this than the shit of today that we are subjected to!!
Hi there. I know how you feel, but keep in mind that not all artist of your generation is all bad. You just have to have a discerning ear for what you like and what you don't. I was lucky to grow up hearing some of the best music ever. As you get older more great music will unfold before you from around the world. I do agree with you that a lot of so-called artists today get all the rave, but it's not right. So, bottom line, just know what you love about music and don't follow the crowd.
@BUTTERFLYWARIOR I agree with you, although in 35 years people will say that when a Lady Gaga vid is posted on YouTube. I can't imagine what music or life will be like in 2045! Probably it will suck. Plus I'll be dead, so I guess that sucks.
No one really cares how old you are.

An incredible talent indeed, and much like the late Karen Carpenter, was taken away from our musical universe much too soon.
We are however blessed by the talent of her daughter, actresss and comedienne Maya Rudolph.

sad story for us old enough to remember..
but a great song and voice that one can't forget..
mtv sadly changed the presentation of pop music
to more visual than musical, and it's only been downhill since in all forms of music..
