There are advantages and disadvantages of the sex offender registry. For those that belong on it, be grateful those offenders have been caught so you can at least keep an eye on them and keep your kids away from them. But what about the ones out there who are not registered because they haven't been caught? Who the hell knows who they are or where they live.
Unfortunately with any kind of treatment it only works if the offender wants it. If he doesn't, it's only a waste of time offering it to him.
Personally I don't believe there is any such thing as "rehabilitated" or "cured." Anyone who has been to AA will tell you there is no such thing as a "cured alcoholic," as it is a lifelong process, and it only takes one slip up to fall off the wagon and back into that trap.
According to a number of legitimate statistics, only about 5% of sex offenders re-offend. Many are non-violent offenders too, like streakers and teens who had consensual sex with other teens. The media often hides these facts. It's obvious the laws need reform because we're paying too much attention to these petty offenders while real predators are being ignored.
This is common in Mexico and south america they got no age limit to who u want to date u can be 13 years old and date a 20 year old. Only in usa they got these stupid laws blah blah no wonder we wasting too much money on prisons. The real sex offenders or rappers how ever u call them are the ones who force a girl to have sex with them and actually rape them those are the ones that do need to be in prison. Not someone who is dating a younger girl and than is treated as sex offender etc
@PsychoBurgundy8 so if u had a kid you would feel the same way right ? or would u be a hypocrite? cause this "sex offender" label can be placed on any one from streakers to the old man predators!!!!
@TheChickpeasoup ever wonder how they got there? no offender plans to grow up as an offender. On career day, I would bet being a sex offender isn't on the list
1) It's not like everyone who feels like it has access to the register
2) sex crimes have nothing to do with the devil
3) Dilbertgreg, there is a big difference between a young person who knows who to imitate adult sexual behaviour, and an adult with adult knowledge and motives. You haven't done anything commendable you've just behaved like a decent human being. However I recognised the worth of your honesty
4) While sex crimes against children in particular is a very emotively charged subject, I think discussion on it tends to be polarised between revenge and redemption and misses a whole world of middle ground. People who commit sex crimes tend to be viewed 2-dimensionally in terms of the offence or seen as 'good people who did a bad thing' when ALL humans are far more complex than this. I think the former view denies the offender the chance to connected with the full spectrum of their qualitys
which may hold resources for changing to become someone who is no longer a threat to society, in short they conclude "all I am is a paedophile, therefore I shall act like one". However the latter view allows offenders to divorce themselves of responsibility for their actions and equally makes it difficult to effectively changed, Without being an expert I would have thought the answer lay in creating a society that sees offenders as whole people and encourages them to change for the good of ALL
rehabilitated or not, they have to come out and register on the same registry as everybody else! you can commit the crime in 1975, and people will still be throwin stones at you in 2015!
@Dreambro1 and why would you expect them not to? These men hurt our most precious possession, our children.. Do you really think any of us can forget that?
@justcary No, it would be VERY hard to forget that, BUT, the trick of the enemy(satan) is to keep animousity and hard feelings and the spirit of unforgiveness above our heads, that way, he has killed two birds with one stone, he has caused harm upon our children,PLUS he overcasts a sense of Hatred for the perpetrator over our heads, and we are destroyed TWICE! Its not an easy Task to forgive a child molestor, thats a fact, but, With Prayer and Education we will overcome!
@Dreambro1 Again lets not mistake forgiveness with justice, we all have a responsibility to our children to keep them safe.. If 1 out of 100 end up rehabilitated, its great some children will be spared.. But lets not forget the 99 who won't.. I am all for any program that truly stops a predator..But the registry stays in place..
@justcary where do you get your information from, the media? Educate yourself and get some some real data, most sex offenders do not re-offend whether predatory or not, the media lies
there is nothing godly about planned parenthood. Any group that says if someone touches another they would kill someone & call that godly is completely out of there mind. Out of 157 graduates of the SOAR program, only 2 re-offended in a 5 year period. That is only about 1.3%, far lower than the national average of around 5.4%, which is still far lower than the re-offense rate for most other crimes. Goes to show that most sex offenders can be successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.

yah, fuck it, we should just accept that children are going to be raped. why bother to at least try and prevent it? just let the victims pile up while we shoot these guys in the head one-by-one after we find out after years later, that they've ruined the loves of countless people.
@jimmymot The media only tells half truth,, most people picture forcible rape when they hear of a 15 year old with a 12 year old,, but even if its consentual, if the person is under 12, its still considered rape!
@Dreambro1 hey, thanks for the comment. i do understand that - - i addressed the extreme only because the unfortunate social ignorance makes its claims of government sanctioned vengeance on such extremes.
@paragod666 i agree,, everyone deserves a second chance, but if an offender goes back out and does the SAME thing over, there should be harsh consequences!
@paragod666 well, not all sex offenders are Sexual Predators, AND EVERYONE is a sexual predator to an extent. Remember when we were in highschool and out to get "Laid" ? Most men i know, thats all they talk about,, Getting a peice of ass, getting laid ! Thats predator behavior if you ask me; If you think about it, their eyeing and gawking doesnt stop at adults, they all eye 15 year olds up and down the street! I see it everyday!
@Dreambro1 You know what I meant, a sexual predator isn't someone who's out just looking to get laid, they're rapists and child molesters....not lookeiloos. Hell, we'd all be dead wouldn't we?
@paragod666 Um, i took courses , and was taught that poeple that s out to just get "Laid" is a Sex offender mentality in its self! People with that attitude are just a time bomb that will inevitably go off! When u gawk and make women objects, that when we begin to offend! Whistling at women IS now a form of Sexual Harrassment!
@Dreambro1 Dude, this is becoming irritating. I'm talking about doint it within the confines of the law otherwise it's rape or sexual battery. Whistling is only harassing if they tell you to stop or not to do it otherwise, it's whistling. People are going to look and gawk, that's human nature and it does not imply shit, nor is it illegal. Making someone a visual object isn't illegal, not matter how perverted, it's how one acts on those thoughts that becomes the problem.
@paragod666 Dude, get a Clue,, the registry is based on assumption,, like, if you do this, youll do that,,,Same difference!!! It says, Even if you got caught pissin in public, youll run and kidnap a kid! And as far as legal is concerned, my point is,,Legality and Morality doesnt always go hand in hand! Gambling is legal,, but its not moral, Sex out of wedlock is legal, but its not moral, ! we need to evaluate ourselves before pointing fingers,, !
@Dreambro1 You're trying to make a statement however you're scattered. Yes the laws that nail some people like the 18 year old with the 17 year old girlfriend, the guy pissing behind a tree who are deemed as sex offenders, it's pretty much bullshit.
The guy out pulling his pants down in front of elementary schools, and once again, comitting sexual batter/rape, should be dealt with, permanently.
Child molesters, same as the rapist.....give them the shot that ends it all.
@paragod666 Also, im not arguing or trying to be rude,,im just trying to make a point,, that the system is not in place to protect anyone, its politics!
@paragod666 i think that's the classic chicken and the egg debate. the people in office uphold the law, and they are full of shit, but the LAWS in place are what actually matter. i try to think of law, not as a government telling me what i cant do, but the general guidelines of what i have to do to have access to their technology, resources, grocery stores, doctors, etc. society has ALOT of advantages, and conviences i enjoy. i think its fucking worth the laws, or MOST of them
@jimmymot In your post to Dreambro1 you defined it very accurately. Government exists in order to enforce/create the laws that govern our society, otherwise, it would be social chaos. Unfortunately, politicians abuse this law-making power in order to attain votes.
I am 100% supportive of taking violent sexual predators out and ridding society of them permanently. I'm all for the laws.
@paragod666 wow elizabeth youngblood is still around trying to get a father figure from anyguy she can uh,since james died(i heard that bald bastard hated her)
@Dreambro1@Dreambro1 i just wanted to tell you, with good will, that i think you're putting the wrong emphasis on social order. think of the first societies, without government, or politics, what were their "laws"? violence. with all civilized law we sacrifice a good deal of freedom. the important thing to realize is that it is worth having to bite your tongue around a hot chick because of politics, if the same bullshit also makes it possible to prevent the real rape of women, men and children
@jimmymot I agree, we do need laws, and I DO NOT condone rape of ANYONE, but my point is, The law should broaden the laws to keep chow coming in! If the intent is to protect society, thats fine, but when The courts Just convicts to score brownie points, thats the problem! It seems the courts are a game, they just want to win ,no matter the cost ! In most cases there isnt even a willing participant victim!
@jimmymot but on the same note, Blacks do commit the majority of crime! the prisons are 80 percent black,, so is it right to lock up all blacks to save society? if it wasnt for Martin Luther king and other Civil leaders, that would be the case now!
confession: in my 20s, i ALMOST acted on a situation w my alcoholic girlfriend's teen daughter.
She was sneaking sips of mom's beer at a family restaurant, getting tipsy. A band was playing so mom encouraged me to slow dance w her. At first it was innocent like big bro, but SHE started dancing erotic - seriously.
Teen got naked later and came on to me, while mom was passed out. Prolly jealous of her sisters w boyfriends.
i am SOOO glad i said NO, that would have been a disaster.
dilbertgeg : Thank you for your honesty. You bring up a very salient point. Many people fall into these situations by a set of circumstances presenting themselves at a time where their resistance is lowest. Though not excusing this, it must be recognized that these perpetrators are different qualitatively from predators. Many also regret their actions and are low risk at re-offending. You must be commended for not falling in a situation posing the most risk for you.
I was a bit lucky. I was buzzed and she reminded me of my first 'girlfriend'. Out of consideration to viewers, I'll leave out the precise details of this girl's erotic actions in public, but in my 20s I was still 90% libido and 10% brains, especially after drinking all night, and it would have been so easy to "grant her wishes" .... at first.
Now I think about the prison experience and perm Red Letter branding I avoided by telling her "no". Fear and good sense overruled lust.
@dilbertgeg Its all legal mumble jumble, to keep food on the proscecutors table, and they can get a way with it saying that they are "protecting the children" ! Parents have to TEACH the kids to protect themselves, we are under the impression that hiding sex from minors will keep them from being promiscuous in life, which isnt so,, they have to be TAUGHT respect!!! What they DONT know can hurt them! Parents are just as much to blame when their 15 year old is out fuckin every tom dick and harry!
@dilbertgeg you're lucky. sometimes a person's life can hinge on one decision. there are many people like you who made the decision not to act and there are many who made another decision. in a lot of cases, a sex offender is not much different from the rest of us...
Treatment is really the only way to prevent relapse. That in combination with chemical castration are as far as I can tell the most effective. Also, from experience I can tell you that treatment is harder than jail.
chargedconvicted : Apparently you do not believe it is possible for a person's sexual urges to be redirected, reordered or repaired? I am concerned that an over reliance on curtailing expression of sexuality by castration means will result in some individuals resorting to more violent and bizarre acts in attempting to satisfy their drives. People who are unable to satisfy themselves sexuality may resort to upping the level of stimulation.
Is there anyway to get a copy of this video, I am the mother of a convicted sex offender, I am just trying to get as much information as possible. I am asking if you would be willing to talk to me via email.
So far as I know there are no support groups for the families such as mine, there are other victims such as myself, what I call the ripple effect.
I agree that child rapists...in fact rapists of any kind are scum. But there is a difference between an attraction (which most consider to be a mental disease), and actually acting on it (which is a crime).
people used to say the same thing about asians during the 1940's after pearl harbor...didnt matter if u were japanese, chinese, korean etc. think about it
There is another side to these stories. My son was falsely accused of sexual abuse yrs ago by an 8yr.old.She lived with 3 criminal uncles, prostituts drug addict mother/sister Ken was an easy scapegoat. The girl finaly told the truth, gave a deposition, writes letters begging forgivenss. She looked the victim my son looked guilty He was a lamb among wolves. He's still on the registry,His appeal denied. Most won't believe finally tells the truth. Too many Innocent men are scapegoats in these cases.
Blink, you have no experience with treatment programs. I graduated this program in 2001. I have been out for 3 years. The treatment is far less about sex as it is about life skills and why "objectification" is truly a bad thing. I could not rape my victim without stripping her of her rights as a human being first. We didn't have time to discuss politics much, with so much homework. I didn't study that hard in college. The 'role plays' where we were our victims, I'll never forget.
They house sex offenders together? Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? I'm fairly positive they don't spend their days discussing politics. Imagine the new ideas they might have when they're released back into society.
If they were in general population, the prisoners would find out and attack them. It's the same as keeping other criminals in the same building--if they get ideas, they get ideas. Isolation won't help, much. At least this way they're getting some form of therapy.
In the SOAR program we were in general population, except for during class. We bunked in that building as well, but half of that building (K dorm) was for the cooks. I guess because we were a little better behaved? But otherwise, we were with about 800 other medium custody inmates. Same chow hall, same everything else. No problems. The Superintendent made the rules there, and he kept them. That's about all it takes in any institution. BTW, it's NOT a Federal prison, it's a NC state prison.
Even these treatment providers here misstate the statistics. I swear too many people are digging numbers out of their ass. The Justice Department Report on Criminal Recidivism states that about 3.3 percent of sex offenders will re-offend. Most sex offenders are first offenders. Many were abused as children themselves. It doesn't excuse them, but if a real solution is being sought, then perhaps a place to begin?
and those stats are startling. wheres the other 31 percent. Those are roaming free and un accounted for. Thats Scarry. Thats more the reason to want to protect your family and friends from them. And thats difinitly not idiotic. So without name calling form an intelligent reponse. And on a local level i think we should all look into seeing what can be done to make laws tougher. And DECREASE offenses.
You have lost all control over that thanks to John Walsh, who by the way has admitted to sleeping around on his wife on Larry King. Isn't adultery a sex offense in Florida?
John Walsh lost a child, and got off his ass and did something about it! I APPLAUD him! You are mad because you do not have the right to abuse people.
Do you remember how his wife left that child alone in the middle of a mall at 6 years old? Do you remember how the police realized the John had made a bad money deal?
Rev made a mistake, that is all. All parents make mistakes. But John has used his charisma to say outrageous things that just don't add up. Like there are 50,000 dead and beheaded children in the streets in the US. That would be 1,000 for each state. When was the last time you saw a beheaded child in the street?
We are agreed. But sadly, that is what this whole issue has come down to. Mark Lunsford son, Josh, just became a sex offender for fondling his 14 year old girlfriend. They did not even have sex, just a fumble in the dark.
I don't want people to be hurt, I want them to have a better chance of not being hurt. I would like to see rehabilitation for those sex offenders who are willing, therapy for victims so they can become survivors and classes offered to teach people how to keep from becoming a victim or what to do if someone has become a victim.
John Walsh lost his child because he was unprotected. I think that part, bad parent, has been given little to no press. Did John Walsh deserve to loose his child? Heck no. No one should become a victim. Of any kind. Is there something that they could have done to prevent it? Yes. To me, that is certainly something that needs to be aired as well. It might have been better had he "gotten off his ass" first, instead of later.
1) wayward4now-several years after hearing what happened to John Walsh's son and the ordeal his family went through, I was crying all night, of how unfair life could be but there is a difference between a Chris Hansen style pedophile WHO NEEDS HELP through group therapy and a child abductor and murderer. So by generalizing term PEDOPHILE, is like the legal system calling armed robbery, larceny, petty theft, & shoplifting the same thing. and a minor in most states (but not all) is under age 18.
It's crazy to think that "outing" does any good at all, when 90% of all sex offenses occur within the home by either a parent, parental figure, relative or close family friend. When ANY con gets out with a $45 gate check and no where to go, that is more of a reflection on society than the ex-con. We're releasing 1/2 million inmates every year for the next ten years. I think everyone will sleep better if they can find a job and a second chance. If anyone thinks otherwise, that makes victims.
Marcus, since 90% of the sex offenses occur within the people you trust, family, parental figures, relatives and friends of family, it means -you- have to be vigilant... not some cop that is 20 blocks away. So, you protect you and yours FROM your close circle, not the other way around. That is the only thing that will prevent 90% of offenses.
actually no im not an idiot. And wanting to protect others against sex offenders isnt idiotic. And yes the law and such has gaps in it. But I do wish thier was a way to capture and contain them all.
Sadly the registry has proven to be ineffective, and does little to prevent abuse and much to relieve the taxpayer of his money spent on it. The only way to capture them all would be to hire half the population to watch the other half. Actually the registry does harm as folks will think the offenders are contained, when your offender is likely to be a close friend of family member. That's the stats according to the DOJ.
@wayward4now I learned there was an offender registry in the 60s, that was only available to law enforcement! Then, statitics said molestations was down, then megans law came into place and put poeple on a public registry, which is completely pointless! And most ,if not all of the restrictions thats placed on the offender wasnt even factors in their offenses !
Marcus is an idiot. Go to angryoffender dot com and read the truth about how sex offender laws are starting to actually INCREASE the danger of new sexual offenses. The studies actually show new sexual re-offense rates around 5-6 percent, and the NC Registry only shows 71 recidivist offenders in the entire state, which is a tiny fraction of a percent of the total SO population of that state. See that site for more info.
Welcome My Name Is Marcus. This is a new orginization im starting for familys, parents, concerned citizens anyone who cares about the possible danger of those who live close to you. pleae join us byt clicking the link outthesexoffender and join our youtube.
Think of how much guts it took to turn himself in? That is called "The Last Ditch Intervention". You think about it. Punching him in the face would just make you the offender, him the victim. Maybe you're already doing that to people? That man has more guts than you know or probably more than you have, as he admitted to the Truth. Then he took his lumps. You cannot ask more from any man than that. He took his own self out of the picture, when he found he could not handle the situation.

Dreambro1 1 year ago
@Dreambro1 You're trying to make a statement however you're scattered. Yes the laws that nail some people like the 18 year old with the 17 year old girlfriend, the guy pissing behind a tree who are deemed as sex offenders, it's pretty much bullshit.
The guy out pulling his pants down in front of elementary schools, and once again, comitting sexual batter/rape, should be dealt with, permanently.
Child molesters, same as the rapist.....give them the shot that ends it all.
paragod666 1 year ago
@paragod666 Also, im not arguing or trying to be rude,,im just trying to make a point,, that the system is not in place to protect anyone, its politics!
Dreambro1 1 year ago
@Dreambro1 I agree with you but that's what most laws are all about, gathering voters.
paragod666 1 year ago
@paragod666 i think that's the classic chicken and the egg debate. the people in office uphold the law, and they are full of shit, but the LAWS in place are what actually matter. i try to think of law, not as a government telling me what i cant do, but the general guidelines of what i have to do to have access to their technology, resources, grocery stores, doctors, etc. society has ALOT of advantages, and conviences i enjoy. i think its fucking worth the laws, or MOST of them
jimmymot 1 year ago
@jimmymot In your post to Dreambro1 you defined it very accurately. Government exists in order to enforce/create the laws that govern our society, otherwise, it would be social chaos. Unfortunately, politicians abuse this law-making power in order to attain votes.
I am 100% supportive of taking violent sexual predators out and ridding society of them permanently. I'm all for the laws.

@Dreambro1 @Dreambro1 i just wanted to tell you, with good will, that i think you're putting the wrong emphasis on social order. think of the first societies, without government, or politics, what were their "laws"? violence. with all civilized law we sacrifice a good deal of freedom. the important thing to realize is that it is worth having to bite your tongue around a hot chick because of politics, if the same bullshit also makes it possible to prevent the real rape of women, men and children
jimmymot 1 year ago
@jimmymot I agree, we do need laws, and I DO NOT condone rape of ANYONE, but my point is, The law should broaden the laws to keep chow coming in! If the intent is to protect society, thats fine, but when The courts Just convicts to score brownie points, thats the problem! It seems the courts are a game, they just want to win ,no matter the cost ! In most cases there isnt even a willing participant victim!
Dreambro1 1 year ago

Prolly jealous of her sisters w boyfriends.
i am SOOO glad i said NO, that would have been a disaster.
dilbertgeg 2 years ago 2
dilbertgeg : Thank you for your honesty.

@klard
Fear and good sense overruled lust.
dilbertgeg 1 year ago
@dilbertgeg Its all legal mumble jumble, to keep food on the proscecutors table, and they can get a way with it saying that they are "protecting the children" ! Parents have to TEACH the kids to protect themselves, we are under the impression that hiding sex from minors will keep them from being promiscuous in life, which isnt so,, they have to be TAUGHT respect!!! What they DONT know can hurt them! Parents are just as much to blame when their 15 year old is out fuckin every tom dick and harry!
Dreambro1 1 year ago
@dilbertgeg you're lucky. sometimes a person's life can hinge on one decision. there are many people like you who made the decision not to act and there are many who made another decision. in a lot of cases, a sex offender is not much different from the rest of us...

Treatment is really the only way to prevent relapse. That in combination with chemical castration are as far as I can tell the most effective. Also, from experience I can tell you that treatment is harder than jail.
chargedconvicted 2 years ago 2
chargedconvicted : Apparently you do not believe it is possible for a person's sexual urges to be redirected, reordered or repaired? I am concerned that an over reliance on curtailing expression of sexuality by castration means will result in some individuals resorting to more violent and bizarre acts in attempting to satisfy their drives. People who are unable to satisfy themselves sexuality may resort to upping the level of stimulation.

Is there anyway to get a copy of this video, I am the mother of a convicted sex offender, I am just trying to get as much information as possible. I am asking if you would be willing to talk to me via email.
So far as I know there are no support groups for the families such as mine, there are other victims such as myself, what I call the ripple effect.
Thank yu
Thank you

The 'role plays' where we were our victims, I'll never forget.
wayward4now 3 years ago
congratulations on your success.
jimmymot 1 year ago
They house sex offenders together? Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? I'm fairly positive they don't spend their days discussing politics. Imagine the new ideas they might have when they're released back into society.
blinkandoverlook 3 years ago
If they were in general population, the prisoners would find out and attack them. It's the same as keeping other criminals in the same building--if they get ideas, they get ideas. Isolation won't help, much. At least this way they're getting some form of therapy.
kalixand3 3 years ago

It doesn't excuse them, but if a real solution is being sought, then perhaps a place to begin?
tmaximus95 4 years ago
That is very true, many of them are first time offenders.
John Wayne Gacy Jr' first conviction was for child molestation and just years later he became one of America's most notorious serial killers

Thanks for the info..And you made a good point, we do not have a murderer registry..
darkwhitedirewolf 4 years ago 4
and those stats are startling. wheres the other 31 percent.
Thanks,
Marcus

You have lost all control over that thanks to John Walsh, who by the way has admitted to sleeping around on his wife on Larry King. Isn't adultery a sex offense in Florida?
pinkstocking 4 years ago
John Walsh lost a child, and got off his ass and did something about it! I APPLAUD him! You are mad because you do not have the right to abuse people.
darkwhitedirewolf 4 years ago
Do you remember how his wife left that child alone in the middle of a mall at 6 years old? Do you remember how the police realized the John had made a bad money deal?
pinkstocking 4 years ago
no that was not known, let me look into that...
darkwhitedirewolf 4 years ago
Rev made a mistake, that is all. All parents make mistakes. But John has used his charisma to say outrageous things that just don't add up. Like there are 50,000 dead and beheaded children in the streets in the US. That would be 1,000 for each state. When was the last time you saw a beheaded child in the street?
pinkstocking 4 years ago 2
Yes as a parent I am the first and last firewall between my kids and harm, I can't leave a child unattended.
I do think high risk offenders should be posted, but some guy with a prom date 2 days away from being 18 is carried away!
darkwhitedirewolf 4 years ago
We are agreed. But sadly, that is what this whole issue has come down to. Mark Lunsford son, Josh, just became a sex offender for fondling his 14 year old girlfriend. They did not even have sex, just a fumble in the dark.
pinkstocking 4 years ago 2
I don't want people to be hurt, I want them to have a better chance of not being hurt. I would like to see rehabilitation for those sex offenders who are willing, therapy for victims so they can become survivors and classes offered to teach people how to keep from becoming a victim or what to do if someone has become a victim.
pinkstocking 4 years ago 3

Marcus, there have been many studies that show 'outting' people does not help in lowering offense, and even makes some things worse.
pinkstocking 4 years ago
It's crazy to think that "outing" does any good at all, when 90% of all sex offenses occur within the home by either a parent, parental figure, relative or close family friend. When ANY con gets out with a $45 gate check and no where to go, that is more of a reflection on society than the ex-con. We're releasing 1/2 million inmates every year for the next ten years. I think everyone will sleep better if they can find a job and a second chance. If anyone thinks otherwise, that makes victims.
wayward4now 3 years ago
Marcus, since 90% of the sex offenses occur within the people you trust, family, parental figures, relatives and friends of family, it means -you- have to be vigilant... not some cop that is 20 blocks away. So, you protect you and yours FROM your close circle, not the other way around. That is the only thing that will prevent 90% of offenses.
wayward4now 3 years ago
actually no im not an idiot. And wanting to protect others against sex offenders isnt idiotic. And yes the law and such has gaps in it. But I do wish thier was a way to capture and contain them all.
outthesexoffender 4 years ago
Sadly the registry has proven to be ineffective, and does little to prevent abuse and much to relieve the taxpayer of his money spent on it. The only way to capture them all would be to hire half the population to watch the other half. Actually the registry does harm as folks will think the offenders are contained, when your offender is likely to be a close friend of family member. That's the stats according to the DOJ.
wayward4now 2 years ago
@wayward4now I learned there was an offender registry in the 60s, that was only available to law enforcement! Then, statitics said molestations was down, then megans law came into place and put poeple on a public registry, which is completely pointless! And most ,if not all of the restrictions thats placed on the offender wasnt even factors in their offenses !
Dreambro1 1 year ago
Marcus is an idiot. Go to angryoffender dot com and read the truth about how sex offender laws are starting to actually INCREASE the danger of new sexual offenses. The studies actually show new sexual re-offense rates around 5-6 percent, and the NC Registry only shows 71 recidivist offenders in the entire state, which is a tiny fraction of a percent of the total SO population of that state. See that site for more info.

How did he not punch that sex offender in the face? Very good story.
TubeFreak66 4 years ago
Think of how much guts it took to turn himself in? That is called "The Last Ditch Intervention". You think about it. Punching him in the face would just make you the offender, him the victim. Maybe you're already doing that to people? That man has more guts than you know or probably more than you have, as he admitted to the Truth. Then he took his lumps. You cannot ask more from any man than that. He took his own self out of the picture, when he found he could not handle the situation.
