Forget about Rambo and Terminator. These guys are the real superheros. I happened to be at the end of a mine tunnel in that same region just 2 days after a 7 degree quake. Those miners then were inside the tunnel, at the bottom, their lights went off and the tunnel moving from side to side, all that in black picth oscurity. And they kept going to work, mining, the following days, even if they were having 5 and 6 degree aftershocks all the time. And they were cool as cucumbers. Wow.

My grandfather died in a coal mine when my Mother was 12. She is 82 now. I know how losing her father affected her life, her Mother's life and her brothers and sisters. My heart is really with these men and their families. I pray for them every day now to stay strong enough to be rescued. Everyone in Chile please work very hard to save them.

I hate to say this but those miners are a good as dead. It would take more than 4 months to dig through 2290 feet of gravel to get them out!! They will run out of oxygen soon and they will sufocate or die of starvation.

when the rescue team got contact with the miners after 17 days the first thing the miners said on the telefone was: " we have 3 friends who went up the mine the minute it came down are they alright?" it was the first thing they said before asking for help and food. The rescuers responded to them that they were all fine and then after that we could hear over the phone laugh and screams of joy and happines.

Right now 17 miners are RESCUED! All the 17 people came out today, so tomorrow will hopefully all 33 be rescued. This is fantastic and I hope they are OK!

Poets should write about this rescue. This is a victory not only for these 33 heroic men but for all of mankind who took up the rescue of these men as their cause.
I hope the Chilean parliament will confer lifelong pensions on these men and their wives and their children up to the age of 26, so that they can finish university. These men were lost and now they are found--that is the most precisious thing in life.

Forget about Rambo and Terminator. These guys are the real superheros. I happened to be at the end of a mine tunnel in that same region just 2 days after a 7 degree quake. Those miners then were inside the tunnel, at the bottom, their lights went off and the tunnel moving from side to side, all that in black picth oscurity. And they kept going to work, mining, the following days, even if they were having 5 and 6 degree aftershocks all the time. And they were cool as cucumbers. Wow.

My grandfather died in a coal mine when my Mother was 12. She is 82 now. I know how losing her father affected her life, her Mother's life and her brothers and sisters. My heart is really with these men and their families. I pray for them every day now to stay strong enough to be rescued. Everyone in Chile please work very hard to save them.

I am impressed as well as inspired by these men. How little do we struggle in life by comparison? Those with the inclination toward joking about such trials or degrading these men and their survival are themselves rapt in luxury, as you now sit at a computer typing insults, or slights. Shame upon you if you do. It may be executives that start the motion of such projects, but the laborers that shed blood, sweat and tears for such endeavors. Show some respect, and keep your own dignity in tact.

I hate to say this but those miners are a good as dead. It would take more than 4 months to dig through 2290 feet of gravel to get them out!! They will run out of oxygen soon and they will sufocate or die of starvation.

when the rescue team got contact with the miners after 17 days the first thing the miners said on the telefone was: " we have 3 friends who went up the mine the minute it came down are they alright?" it was the first thing they said before asking for help and food. The rescuers responded to them that they were all fine and then after that we could hear over the phone laugh and screams of joy and happines.
I feel so proud to be chilean
