A friend of mine said they saw a video where two gals had purposely stepped into some quicksand and as soon as they were in it it was extremely difficult to get themselves out without help from someone on the shore. They spent like 15-20 minutes in it before someone got them out. So even if one is like knee deep in it it still can be difficult to get out without help and it depends on how thick it is too.
