Even if you were right, they wouldn't have to because in the free market prices will tend to go down (or don't people think that's possible any more?).

But it is a fact that in a free market, a person who works hard and intelligently can get rich.

I said they can get rich, not that it's guaranteed. But what is guaranteed is that they can do well, and that they will do better and better.

In the present system of taxation, welfare, and government controls, it is well-nigh impossible to get ahead, or even to stay afloat. Moreover, the system encourages minimal effort because people come to expect that others owe them a living.
