  • i just got a nook color and want to root it. Is this method still valid? Thanks.

  • @muyiscobobo If you got a Nook Color and not a Nook tablet and are on software version 1.2.0 than this will work. Unfortunatly I no longer have a NC so am unable to create videos for the latest software versions.

  • @k2pro78 thanks for the prompt reply. I guess i'll be trying this as soon as i can get an SD card for the nook... probably tomorrow.

  • I am trying to do this but I cant seem to get the files to fit on the SD Card. The instructions say that I need to write to it but it wont work. It seems that all of the sites for the downloads are down.

  • @oKnASty10 Try using a seperate SD card for the root files. So exxentially boot up the nook color with the CWM SD card, then use the other SD card to flash root.

  • @k2pro78 I have a 4g sd card. Is the issue that I am trying to flashit with the 2gb or less cwm?

  • @oKnASty10 If your trying to burn the 2gig image to the 4 gig card than yes. There is a 4 gig image available from the xda-developers forums.

  • Worked like a charm! Tried for 2 days with the mac and was about to return it and get the iPad2, but your instructions made it work the first try!...Thanks!

  • the video is not bad its just that u hold it in portrait hold it in landscape mode so we can see more of the video thanks

  • @xray174 ya i tried to fix that, but i recorded with a Fascinate. I appreciate the comment and Ill see what i can do to get a little better quality. Thanks

  • Could you let me know how to do the SD card/imaging on a mac?

    much, much appreciated!

  • @christopherhousen Interestingly enough Mac and Windows methods for imaging the SD card are very similar.

  • I updated my description with links to the forums where most of this info came from originally.

  • Yes after running this you should be able to run MOST android apparently. PDF's are no problem as well as the ability to install Flash 10.2. Essentially after doing this you have converted you nook color into an ereader/android tablet. There's a link in the description that leads to detailed written instructions as well as the file link.

@caroleeloveshim, you need to have a bootable CWM sd card for this to work. Ill try to get a video up for that on Monday.

  • @k2pro78 , okay, thankyou. when you do that can u send me the link please? <3

  • could you post a link to the download(s)?

also, do all the apps work on this root?

and lastly, is there any specific clockwork mod i should use?

  • @aclcdigitalmusic I'm trying to get ahold of the developer to see if posting a direct link to the root files is okay. Posting links to software that you didn't develop is just bad manors. For now the download link is in the forum in the link.

  • @aclcdigitalmusic Yes, the one from my description.

also, do all the apps work on this root?

  • ok. so i put it in and all it did was go to my regular home screen. help?

  • after i do this, does it mean i can make it run like an android tablet? what will this do for me?

  • @caroleeloveshim pretty much. The Nook color runs on heavily modified Android software anyway. This basically installs Google apps, and gives you the ability to go full on Android. I highly recomend CyanogenMod 7.0.2 for the Nook.

  • hey .. just a quick question .. never used any of these readers, but can I load and read any PDF ?"even if its scanned ? say a scanned book "pages are images not text " ? will that work ? thanx .

  • @imemyslef82 Anything that Android can read your Nook should be able to read as well after rooting.

  • At the install failed screen simply reboot your Nook and all will be well.
