  • great video

  • What's going on on the right side of the screen at 35"? Funny how you never noticed these "blemishes" when originally watching TOTP!

  • Comment removed

  • He mr. Beaverclan, who is the man in the left with a gitar and curly hair Robin Shaw or Robin Box???? in the video when you are a king??? love his face!!!

  • eu estava ai neste show

  • As far as i know my mate Robin"Scrim"Shaw, & Robin Box are still working together. Mick Bracknell/Crewkerne!.

  • So who did sing this song on the record. Tony Burrows or Roger Greenaway ?

  • Roger Greenaway supplied vocals to for the Tops version and Tony for the disc release.

  • I wonder if Greenaway sang lead on TOTP's because Burrows was in 3 of the bands on that night...?

By the way, the BBC have that edition of TOTP's in the archive. Quite why iit doesn't seem to have seen the light of day is allegedly because one of the other acts on that show might be preventing it.

A full 'time-coded' recording of that TOTP's appearance is 'out there'.

  • This was the first 45 I ever bought. Love this song.

  • Wish these guys were still performimg

great music great times the 70's

  • Love this song & have it on a 45 single. Tony Burrows is a cutie. Where can I find on YouTube the Youtube "White Plains - Lovin' You Baby - 45 rpm" and "Tony Burrows - Take Away the Feeling - 45 rpm" videos. I'd love to see those but can't seem to find them on YouTube for some reason. Thanks to whoever knows! :)

  • The video clip in question is a song called "Beachcomber". Originaly it was titled "New Begingings". Found on album and single.

  • What's the title of song at 2:29 ? (about seagull. This group was good! Thanks for the original video clips.

  • Okay..then. I really like the vibrato and gusto thing.

  • great great great songs, thanks for posting!

the guy with the hat is so hoooooot!

  • Original lead singer in the B-W clip at the beginning is Roger Greenaway who also wrote the song. He wrote hits for The Fortunes and many other artists. On the left is Tony Burrows who as a session singer sang lead on a lot of hits. White Plains evolved from The Flower Pot Men after Greenaway had taken over production and songwriting duties for that band from John Carter and Ken Lewis.

  • One of the last Flowerpot Men songs was a Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook production "In a Moment of Madness" The same song (also same cut) turned up on the White Plains album. The origin of this song came to be when the Rogers made acquaintance with Sophie Loren on a wet rainy day at London Airport.

  • Great song

  • beautiful record

  • Reminds me of my youth!

  • Lunch boxes.

  • Thanks for a great post from a favorite time in my life.

    Francis J. O'Reilly

  • This stuff sems to get classifed as bubblegum, but in the hands of, (with the voice of),Tony Burrows, this is white soul at it's honest best!

  • well if its bubble gum,its the best damn bubble gum their is!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd forgotten about this song..brill!!

  • very cool stuff

  • I went to see the white planes at a wmc in Doncaster in the early 1980s are they still around - Thanks for posting!

  • They performed around 6 gigs last year. With Tony Burrows. Also Robin Shaw and Robin Box. Not sure what they are up to for 2008. Keep an eye on their gig list at their website.

  • have you ever heard white plain's ant-war song called today i killed a man i didn't know? i think that was the title.

  • wish i could find julie julie julie not heard that in years

  • the b side of my baby was as good - show me your hand

  • People interested in White Plains and Tony Burrows, please see also on Youtube "White Plains - Lovin' You Baby - 45 rpm" and "Tony Burrows - Take Away the Feeling - 45 rpm" a rare recording with a picture of Burrows on label.

  • The song "In A Moment of Madness" written by Cook-Greenaway for Flowerpot Men was put on the LP "My Baby Loves Lovin'" by White Plains. The same recording. Roger Greenaway can be seen singing "My Baby Loves Lovin'" in the first clip of "White Plains MY BABY LOVES LOVIN' megamix" above.

  • In a Moment of Madness is the same track featuring the same artists. They just changed their name from Folowerpotmen to White Plains. Just a couple of minor personel changes in the group..

  • Thanks, you're very well informed about it, of course. I would like to see the complete clip of "My Baby Loves Lovin'" featuring Roger Greenaway. Cook-Greenaway("Cookaway"),Macaulay and Hiller were icons of the British Invasion era.

  • I've been working with various songwriters for many years and built so many websites. Done all the research and sound clips on web sights like rogercook com and tonyhiller com and currently working with Barry Mason site all his sound clips. All great fun and so friendly people. John Holman

  • have you ever heard a version of "save your kisses for me"by margo smith?

  • no, just by the Brotherhood of Man which there's a video of here on youtube.

  • Went along to see the White Planes in 1980 at Grandy rd Club Doncaster England, they very good on the night and remember they had an old ford transit van - Thanks for posting

  • white plains also did a great ant-war song called, "today i killed a man i didn't know." does anyone remember that song?

  • Yes a great version. Roger Cook who also co wrote the song with Roger Greenaway managed to go to number one spot with the song in Sweden in the early 70s

  • Stunning!! thanks for posting it!! wow!!

  • sorry it was brotherhood of man not the seakers.

  • the other group was the seakers.and the man was tony burrows.the song l think was united we stand.1970.

  • Sorry, it was My Baby Loves Lovin' I was asking about.

  • That's Roger Greenaway on lead vocals but in the other video on Youtube it's a dark haired guy. Which one actually sang lead on the single?

  • the other guy your refering to actualy appeard on top of the pops 3 times in one nite as lead singer with 3 diffrent groups, white plains, eddison lighthouse, and i forget the other one , boing boing

  • the original brotherhood of man.

  • I disagree. The fact that Tony Burrows sang vocals on United We stand doesnt make Brotherhood of Man an "early version " of White plains. It just means he recorded with both bands in the same year ( 1970 ) as well as he did with Ediston Lighthouse & The Pitkins.

  • The "early version " of White Plains: "Flowerpot Men". Please see the clip "Let's go to san francisco -Flowerpot Men" or "Flowerpot Men - Lets Go The San Francisco" on Youtube.
