I was there in 2010 also, won a trip with Edelweiss.... God it was amazing. Wish I had the money to go back. I just need to move to Southern Germany, perfect place. :)
The road and the mountain look nice, sure it's fun to ride.
I'm surprised somebody wants to show to the public his highly UNSKILLED riding! If you can't stay in your lane on the curves and need the WHOLE road, you need to learn to ride first and then show videos... And if I remember right, in Europe too uninterrupted middle lane means "Don't cross/pass" but you and your buddies crossed the middle lane in MULTIPLE occasions, like it doesn't exists for you...And make turns like snails...
Oh the memories!! Nice smooth video they have nowdays!! I remember that road very well. My wife and I did it two-up in 1989 on an R-80 with the Edelweiss group. We beat the tour-group leader to the top and he was pissed!
@khunwick Wow. I'd like to have done it back then but I didn't get into touring into mid 90's. Can't remember if the roads were any different quality, but as you note video quality certainly is. Always nice to beat the Tour Leader too -). I hope you're still hooning about the Alps. Ride safe.
@MrEunuch - Oops, my dyslexia: 1998! The road is in constant use, and the Swiss ensure the experience , is good! :-) In just the last year or so with the GoPro camera, on-board video advanced ten-fold! I remember bolting a Sony 8mm HandyCam to the fairing of my streetbike in '89... the vibration at every downshift was translated to the mechanism, then cold made the batteries go flat! Cheers!
@o0jun0o This is in The Alps, the large mountain range across south central Europe, just above the Mediterranean. This particular pass is between Italy and Switzerland and is one of the famous ones to do though there are a lot better (to ride) but less well known passes across the mountain range. I'm going again this year to make sure they're just as much fun ;-)
@eccchung Hi. Well, that's a leading question! When I'm riding like that I don't actually make a point of checking the speedo and spend time thinking about is the speed appropriate for what I'm trying to do. Not a get out, just that I prefer to think there is an optimum pace for the road, conditions, corner, etc and I'm trying to achieve that safely.
what a good quality vid, I did this in 2009 awsome roads. I put a vid on too check itout.. stelvio pass on a hyabusa.. to the sound track of the animals land of the rising sun.... xcelente
@calineophyte Hi. I've done nothing explicitly to muffle the sound of the wind. I've used the non-waterproof slotted rear in the camera and simply stuck it to the side of my lid. Maybe I am just lucky and it doesn't bother my recordings where it is on the side of my Schuberth S1 Pro helmet. I changed the standard GS screen for the Adventure one as its a tad bigger (and meaner tinted ;-)). I just toot it for granted that that's what you get.
@MrEunuch Thanks for the reply. I am using a GoPro with the open back on the shell but I have some felt-like material covering the slots. Perhaps the noise on my vids has more to do with the fact that the camera is on a chest harness and I ride an unfaired old Beemer. I also get more top end sound than I notice when riding and less exhaust sound. It helps if I keep my knees pressed against the tank. I would love to have a remote mike option. Enjoy your trip and try to get some time on the Multi.
@calineophyte I notice a bit of wind noise on your videos and I'd say unlucky turbulence. Worth trying a different position, or coming over the pond and trying the roads this side .. maybe there isn't turbulence in Europe ;-). BTW, I'm back in the summer for the top 30 passes again with BMW UK and riding with 2 friends on Duke Multistradas .. the old girl will get a workout trying to keep up.
@JohnMoosome The Merc did take up a bit of room didn't he. Actually I was just taking a cheeky peek at what the view was like so I could turn and gt some decent footage before the next bend. I'm conscious that I should try and capture some of the experience that you have in your peripheral vision that the camera dones't capture just lining up the next apex.
@yamahar87 Hi. This was taken in Aug 2010 playing in The Alps across Europe. This particular road is between Switzerland and Italy. You should come over and try them :-).

@Speedytrip It's one hell of a road, and if you get this side you'll find its one of the most popular. Ugly when the weatehr sets in though!

Spectacular location lives up to the hype. Would you tell me how you muffled the wind noise?
