  • Wish he would grow his hair back!

  • Peart looked the double of keith moon.

  • 0:22

  • See, Even Neil Peart isn't as good as Neil Peart.

  • @ozzyisgood that just made my day XD

  • @ozzyisgood lol

  • Przerzuca ziemniaki.

  • Love that studio.... Up in the Great White North?

  • @dhoosee It has been recorded in Morin Heights, Quebec (Canada) I think.

  • Neil Peart vs John Bonham in a drum off

  • @epsilon497 Dave Weckl would smoke em both....and Buddy Rich would just,,well never mind.

  • neil with hair O_o

  • Every time I play right I feel good ! hahaha

  • Hahaha... only he could one-up himself. And nice Eraserhead poster in the studio!

  • Anyone here saying "modern day" drummers are better than Neil Peart because of double-bass and other junk, or that this is for some reason less complicated because it was played at an earlier stage of rock n' roll, you obviously didn't watch the recording at the end of Neil playing the most complicated part of the song. No one these days plays ANYTHING that intricate or coordinated. Period

  • "getting it right" is not something that is concrete. I think the measure of any good musician is his or her constant push to always make something better. From many people's standards, Neil "gets it right" 100% of the time. But if he thought so too, he wouldn't be famous.

  • it took me a good 2 weeks of playing that song everyday to finally figure out how to get it right on drums.

  • It's hard to play?! Really??! No shit, Neil! Tell me something I don't know!!

  • It's hard to play even for Neil...

  • He's human. He is going to have difficulty playing everything right all the time. Stop making a big deal out of it.

  • They just don't make bands like they used to.

  • People who say that Tom Sawyer "isn't difficult to play right" probably use words like "speed" more often than "dynamics" and "groove". Playing a song right doesn't mean just playing it correctly.

  • @FrancescoK contradicting yourself

  • DANNY CAREY IS THE BEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIME. END OF STORY

  • @mikeymike897

    Dear mikeymike897,

Who the fuck is that? Get on my level, kid.

    Sincerely,

    John Bonham

  • @vedderfan94 Uhhhhh, noooo. Danny Carey did more with drums than Bonham thought possible. I love Zeppelin, but don't be an elitist. Carey has some of the most complex parts I've ever heard, and I've honestly never learned more from studying one musician.

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure Lol you really know nothing kid. The moment you mentioned 'complex' is the moment everything you have previously said was completely disregarded. Carey is absolutely nothing compared to Bonham. Hardly anyone knows who the fuck he is for a start. Drumming isn't about complexity.

  • @vedderfan94 And the moment you mentioned that "hardly anyone knows who he is" discredited you, as you're bringing popularity into the mix now, which means nothing in musical talent. Good job, ass.

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure lol u mad bro? drumming isn't about complexity idiot.

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure Carey's amazing dude but Bonham kills him as Bonham kills every drummers

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure i agree. people have their "favorites" and think they are the best. but for me, carey is the most inventive and creative player of music to grace a drum kit. he plays drums as a musician not just a drummer. anyone who thinks carey is rubbish, i dare them to learn rosetta stoned. i would even dare their favorite drummer to learn rosetta stoned. afterwards, even they will say it is one of the most "fun" songs to play once you know how. cheers mate, awaiting the new cd

  • @themadtapper oh yeah danny carey is the man. I dont even like tool and i love danny carey. He is a true percussionist and not just a fast playing metal drummer. Dude is a living legend

  • @austin78993 idk.. i think Tomas Haake is better than Carey

  • @mikeymike897 You sir, are correct!

  • Neil is definitely one of the best if not THE best. I think it is funny how there are people who say he isn't, but then point to the Metal drummers who can play double bass fast. Funny how to some people, the measure of how good you are has to do with how fast you can move your feet. Drumming shouldn't be about speed, it should be about musicality and groove. Sure, speed is nice, but it is by no means a necessity.

  • its not that hard to play right lol maybe for him but lets just list some guys who cud easily play tom sawyer corectly george kollias derek roddy romain goulon alex rudinger travis orbin and thats just a few of many many many drummers who cud do it easily lol neil is the most overrated drummer ever haha ppl need to open their vocabulary and ears and listen to better drummers like the ones i just listed

  • @nigelic Uh...no. LOL Your p*nis envy over Neil Peart is disgusting. I mean, really. LOL Grow up. LOL Oh, and LOL I', a musician, and I love drummers such as Virgil Donati, Dave Weckl, Billy Cobham, and (the new and vastly improved) Steve Smith. LOL Really, what it is, is that you're a yet another stupid victim of the Dunning-Kruger Effect. LOL

  • @Freelancelotonly *I am a musician...sorry, I was laughing so hard I made a typo!

  • @Freelancelotonly hey, thanks a lot....i just wanted to watch a video on drumming, and i ended up spending the last hour researching and viewing videos on Dunning-Kruger principles. Can't a guy just waste time on Youtube anymore?!

  • John Bonham sucks compared to modern day drummers but he set such a high standard for rock drumming and we all have to give him allot of credit for setting a foundation for drummers of today to walk on i defiantly think he is one of the greatest influences in modern day rock and roll but to say that he is the greatest drummer of all time is such an overstatement in my opinion.

  • @Techsified Ginger Baker and Neil Peart, among others, did a helluva lot more to set a high standard for modern rock drummers.

  • @Techsified every modern day drummer pales in comparison to bonham. peart and moon are/were absolutely fantastic, but bonzo really was in a league of his own.

  • One of my all time favorite drummers..he's amazing! And a really cool guy too!

  • Neil is the Chuck Norris of drummers!

  • Neil Peart's idea of "playing it right" is not the same as normal peoples idea of "playing it right" lol

  • idk cuz i cover his song with my band and although tough we are always on point....long live rush

  • It's is Neil Peart's futile attempt to tell us that he is human... And in our eyes, he failed. hahha!

  • WHAT??? CAN ANYTHING BE DIFFICULT TO HIM?

  • As bad of a rap as Rock Band has, the drums on it are pretty damned close to the real thing. A Rock Band drum kit has a similar spread and feel to a cheap electric kit with rubber heads. At its worst, it's just a glorified practice pad.

  • see not even neil peart is better than neil peart

  • @hyena419 HAHA!! Nice!

  • @hyena419 I heard in an interview, that in Neil's off time he gets drum lessons.... who in the F**k is gonna teach Neil Peart to play drums?????

  • @mikegyver46 neil peart is

  • @hyena419 true that, he has to find different styles within himself, and expound on them

  • Comment removed

  • @mikegyver46 god is obviously giving neil peart his lessons.

  • @hyena419 how many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb? two. one to do it, and the other to say how much better neil peart can do it.

  • @metallicarocks911 no peart starts drumming and the light bulb flies up into the socket where the light bulb is held

  • @hyena419

"Even the Neil Peart gets in trouble"

  • @hyena419 lol yeah that really takes the pressure off

  • @hyena419 Even Chuck Norris can't play Tom Sawyer right

  • it cant be that hard. i 100% it regularly on rockband. inb4 i am just kidding i understand its hard don't bite my head off with all that "rockband isn't real drumming blah blah blah" stuff

  • @jonftw24 Even on Rockband, I have a hard time nailing the drums on Tom Sawyer. It's obviously not the most difficult thing to play, considering the evolution of drumming, but for its time it was like Van Halen's guitar. Revolutionary.

  • @jonftw24 You "100% it" because you live in a cartoon world. "It cant be that hard"? Every single bit of your life is lived vicariously through an LCD. Why not crawl out of your xBox hole and find out what's out there?

But, before you hatch out into the world, do it a solid and have your mom and/or Occupy Wall Street comrades hose the Cheetos grease and dingle berries off your filthy, stinking, lazy ass.

    Blah, blah, blah, insect.

  • i suck so much would never be able to play this song

  • John Bonham and Neil Peart, best drummers of all time.

  • @Alejandrocc1994 Nope; Vinnie Colaiuta.

  • @Alejandrocc1994 I say John bonham keith moon and mitch mitchell and of course peart is an amazing drummer but for me they are the best

  • @Alejandrocc1994 in total agreeance with you there, my "Bonzo" tat is proudly displayed everytime my shirt is off

  • @Alejandrocc1994 theres never the best drummers... id say they are the best ROCK drummers, but there are better drummers out there playing other more difficult music genres *cough*jazz*cough* to master on drums...

  • @Alejandrocc1994 and Carl Palmer

  • @Alejandrocc1994

    and keith moon

  • @Alejandrocc1994 All about opinion. I think Danny Carey is well worth being in the list :)

  • @Alejandrocc1994 Buddy Rich...nobody has yet to match him.

  • @Alejandrocc1994 Jojo mayer, thomas lang, buddy rich, vinnie colaiuta and virgil donati

  • @Alejandrocc1994 neil yes, john no.

  • @Alejandrocc1994 Keith Moon?

  • @Alejandrocc1994 dont forget keith moon brotha!!

  • @Alejandrocc1994 not Peart

  • @Alejandrocc1994 Of modern time, I would agree. Check out Buddy Rich on Johnny Carson....minimal kit....maximum sound. Amazing. But there are so many styles...it's always tough for armchair experts such as ourselves to claim who's best.....the thing is the best musicians tend to respect each other a lot.

  • @Alejandrocc1994 no john bonham sucks

  • @AiLiakCheez your wrong there

  • @Alejandrocc1994 also Keith moon

  • Guys, snaredrum110 is probably a big Peart fan he's just trolling. 'cause I read most of his comments and I started laughing at some of them, plus he's bringing up ridiculous obviously false things just to piss everyone off. Well done troll...well done.

  • @drummer265 Eh, I dunno. There's one imbecile (Who goes under a lot of usernames) that spends an absurd amount of time bashing Mike Portnoy on YouTube, who fits the description of the top rated comment. I personally don't think he's trolling... No troll could be that dedicated.

  • @snaredrum110 Don't know you, don't like you, no idea why your even here... Best for you to FUCK OFF!

  • idenity crisis 2012

    mah love

    /watch?v=boAJYYSqUQE

    alabama LSU

  • @snaredrum110 you're a fag bro :)

  • I agree, the BEST 3 MAN BAND EVER!

  • @snaredrum110 I can't find the song, link me to it and I'll show you just how much of an asshole you are.

  • Im sure Neil Pearts ( bad version ) of Tom Sawyer would be somebody elses Great version.. Neil is a perfectionist !!!

  • im a failed non-musician hiding behind a computer in my parents' basement

    can i be #1 comment?

  • @Cameego no you can not. if you want to be top comment you have to either, A) say something very succinctly and witty, or B) something deeply philosophical that makes others think , or C) point out something obvious that others seem to be missing. Short of that you just fucked basically.

  • all you guys bitching and whining about who is the better drummer... YOU ALL SUCK!!

  • @snaredrum110 Was once was is clearly not anymore. Besides, you've been pulling the same shit for YEARS now, and you still can only provide that damned Hero "union recording session" or whatever bullshit you claimed it to be. You are fucking pathetic.

  • The power of the moustache.

  • ive never seen him play it wrong

  • Man crush admitted

  • I cant even play this song on my drum kit....Fucking air drums and Tom Sawyer ? Not possible (at least for me :( )

  • @snaredrum110 Goodbye. If you do ever post a video please let me know.

  • @snaredrum110 are you going to post a video or just post negative comments on many videos?

  • @snaredrum110 Here is an idea. Stop hiding behind a computer and make a video.

  • A lot of drummers, especially young drummes (as the comments thread on this video depicts) are under a big misinterpretation. If you think you can play Tom Sawyer perfectly with ease, then you are probably just a little bit into yourself. What makes Tom Sawyer hard isn't what Neil played, but more so how it's been perceived by the public. Tom Sawyer has one of those drum tracks that EVERYBODY, musician or not, knows by heart. There's no masking mistakes. You've GOT to play it correctly.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX

Well also looking at it, the rhythm of the synth is pretty wierd. Its a hard song to play in general.

  • @snaredrum110 Waste of air

  • best air-drum song ever !!

  • It's a lot easier to play a song someone else wrote than something you came up with though.

  • @StoneColdCraze666 Not true at all, Is it easier for you to speak english or try and speak chinese?

  • god on the drums....

  • @snaredrum110 I have plenty of my own. How 'bout you just post a video to prove it. I look forward to seeing it. Thank you.

  • I guess some of you don't realize trying to remember how to play as many songs rush has, its gets hard trying to remember how to play each song perfectly, especially being a drummer

  • Don't I know it!

  • @snaredrum110 post a vid.

  • I didn't know Tom Sawyer was difficult to play right O3o I'm thirteen and I playnit right with ease.

  • @oneofanceantproficy then you must be better than neil peart, lol

  • @winikten1 fuck no XD Neil Peart is a GOD. I am but a mortal

  • @oneofanceantproficy well then post a video of u playing the whole song end to end

  • @longboardWPG when i get to it, i'll send you a link.

  • @snaredrum110 Prove it bitch.

  • @snaredrum110 You sure showed him.

  • @snaredrum110 Whatever you say, troll.

  • This band is freaky good. Other bands give a nod to them.

  • @snaredrum110 I'm trying not to like you here, stop making me laugh, lol! Please do me a favor though... watch the comments about his wife and daughter, stick to the drumming ...deal???

  • @snaredrum110 Bullshit dude. Watch the Buddy Rich memorial where Neil Peart played, he was playing jazz with a traditional grip, and it was sick.

  • Don't you people recognize a troll when you smell it?? Now don't feed him and he'll go away!

  • Snaredrum110, if hes so bad and your so good, why is he living the big life and your not

  • @snaredrum110 the only thing you smoke is the white owl with a filter tip. and you smoke the skin pipe !!!!!!! Loser

  • Eraserhead poster, hell yes

  • Peart is a good guy.

  • @snaredrum110 you know, if you're gonna say how bad at drumming everyone else is, then how about YOU make a drumming video. I dare you bitch.

  • hey snare, you saying your better than The Professor(yes, it IS his title, acknowledged by all) is like me sayin i'm a better funnycar driver than John Force. 'cept i don't have my funnycar, or a camera,(or a friend to operate it) or skill, but i got a moped!! =:oP

  • i've seen rush 11 times(since caress of steel through test for echo) Neil Peart tops em ALL, carl Palmer and Mike Mangini included

  • When does Peart ever play wrong?

  • I hope everyone realizes that this snaredrum is a troll and that if you just ignore his comments he'll get bored and leave. It'll just take some time.

Anyway, Rush is amazing. Neil Peart is definitely a master drummer and he's still looking for ways to improve after over forty years of playing, which astounds me. The whole group is amazing and few acts have kept the same lineup nearly as long as Rush has. Plus they've had a huge influence on every prog rock band out there right now. So awesome.

  • everyone is really fucking stupid.. learn how to play an instrument and stop arguing over the stupidest shit. if you can play awesome if not awesome. stop trying to be pretentious fucks that are trying to out do each other when really its unprofessional and makes you look retarded.

  • @SuperMegaUberGenius

    Gay user.

  • snaredum.........you seem to be confusing being an internet troll with being a musician. First of all you aren't even a beginner musician as proven by your bullshit claims without any proof.........second of all you are a horseshit troll as well. You seem to want to pretend to be a musician....while you prove repeatedly that you've been a failure your entire life instead. While Neil Peart has achieved success worldwide........you still hide behind a computer in your parents basement.

  • @MrMoterhed Hes probably some Beavis & Butthead type teen, with spots, whose bullied & so has to let his frustrations & failings out by having fantasies while trolling. What a sad person. His Parents must be so proud.Should of used him for stem cell research.Just wasting oxygen even breathing.Easy way for him to prove things.Post a video aye?Theres millions like him/her.All that negative energy wasted on trolling

  • NEIL BEST DRUMMER TOO!

  • RUSH IS THE BEST 3 MAN BAND EVER!

  • @OZOBIEUSA1 Not JUST 3 MAN, but the best BAND ever!

  • Bravo, Neil. A rare talent made all the more unique by his insight to the process. Seeing them live was a deeply emotional experience for me.

  • @snaredrum110 pussy

  • @snaredrum110 LOL, i will check out your channel now to see your amazing PEART TRUMPING WORK?!

  • @snaredrum110 hahaha, you blocked ME though, gaytard:)

You=lose (and not only your hair...lol)

    Dumber than a 3rd grader...

  • @snaredrum110 seems like a man of your talent would have something better to do than argue with people on a youtube comment panel. chump

  • I consider Niel Peart to be the finest drummer on earth, and if anyone thinks they know better, I would like to hear a really good argument.

  • @seraphima91 buddy rich?

  • Just because every Chick Corea drummer ever and every major fusion guy shits on peart doesn't mean you people don't get laughed at when you act like you are as good as Neil is.

  • @snaredrum110 No videos, how convenient.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore indeed! i just looked for even one to pay such amazing homage to this GREATER THAN PEART drummer!

  • @glorp896 I'm pretty sure it's RR drums. He was the same all talk no do faggot as this guy here, I even offered to pay rr money for himself to record simple rudiments on a practice pad (because he 'didn't have his drum set') and he wouldn't do it. This dudes whole life is dedicated to acting like he is better than every prog drummer.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore And proving he's not even at beginning drummer level. Yea it's the same old rrdums alright....the same old idiot hiding behind the computer in his parents basement.

  • LOL!!!snareduffus just blocked me!!!! I WIN!!!!!!

  • @snaredrum110 that explains why he's number 1 on the Rolling Stones 100 greatest drummers of all time.

  • @snaredrum110 what !! wow he is not limited to rock!! so he can play many different styles a s most professional drummers can. he actually plays a`lot of jazz a s well .. THE FACT IS HE ALREADY IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST ALL TIME DRUMMERS!! and the other is John Bonham

  • @snaredrum110 lol just because youre american doesnt me youre superior you redneck shit, your a disgrace to our country now get off the internet you probably couldnt even play the intro to eye of the tiger you garbage

  • snaredrum110, You are a disgusting person full of arrogance. Why don't you post a video of you showing to the world your ''skills''?

  • @snaredrum110 Okay, upload a video of your cover if you are so great then.

  • Tom Sawyer IS a difficult song to play. Of course a lot of drummers can play the beat, but it's all about finesse and feel. Only Peart can play it right.

  • Wow, not only is Neil Peart one of the greatest drummers of all time, he is humble about it too. Got to admire that.

  • neil peart is tom hanks

  • Wow Neil Peart is actually giving an interview! :O

  • @91ACDC91 it's from the rush documentary

  • 0:07 the ric 4080 just casually sitting at the side

  • snaredum110......And that six year old is already 1000 times better than you'll ever be and has a video to back it up!!!! Unlike yourself......hahaha

  • @snaredrum110 What's a six year old drummer have to do with your inability to produce a video of your own?? Other than complete lack of talent!!!

  • @snaredrum110 blow them first
