do you mind if u can make a vid on texturing tutorial's? or recommend me 1?, because i made a pretty good model of a computer desk with alot of appliances, although it doesn't look very attractive, all the objects just look grey, when i colour it though its just a basic colour, i want it to be like real life textures like metal for the computer monitor or wood for the desk....
Im going get a new desktop, but i want a system that would handle photoshop, maya and the best performance out of the latest games. What is best processor, i7 or Quad. Oh ye, i have founf a motherboard sli Cuda Support (P7P55 Supper Computer).
Thanks, ya that one took me a while. the funny thing is that i created that environment just to show off the machine gun and the sand bags, but ironically the environment became more interesting i think. It also took me just as much time if not more to create the environment than it did to create the gun and sand bags.
For the texturing, after having finished the model i unwrap the UV's using the UV Texture editor in Maya, then i take the UV map into Photoshop and i create the textures by compositing other textures on top of the other.I place that texture on a material in Maya, and place that material onto the model. When i make a drawing/design,it is usually on paper.I scan it,then in Maya i create a two sided plane and texture the design onto it,this is what u will see in your side/front view while modeling

you need to work on your lighting the textures look almost black most of the time, other than that great stuff

@lebello. Ya although this is pretty old, lighting and rendering were never one of my strong points, unfortunately.

Maya. It has more power, better interoperability, better support, and better physics.

How did you do the texturing? Make drawings in photoshop (from different perspectives), and import them into Maya to turn them into 3D objects?
