  • very cute , but this is damaging to rats psychological well being , even tho it looks friendly in reality the rat is in stressful situation , and if it continues the animal may die from stress related disorder.

  • lol funny, my ratterrier would eat that thing...

  • So cool! I wouldn't trust my boys to do that they are both Rat mixes but...they would probably be inclined to EAT the rat!

  • heck my rats would be too lazy to get out of thier bed. theyd look at me to do something about it

  • what a great video

  • I have a pet mouse and my rat terrier gets sooooo jelous! We play with my mouse every now and then, and my dog Joey just looks at us then he lunges for the mouse( cookie) it's mean because he was bred to kill rodents but we don't want to get rid of her!

  • My Rat Terrier Dobby would probably never kill anything either. I just don't see it in him though I know they are bred too. Man if he had a friend like Binky, I think they would get along great. Dobby is so extra gentle w/ my ex's son esp when he was only a year old. He never jumped on him (or he would knock him over) he learned, probably like Andru did. But he likes to shake his stuffed animals (well hides) back and forth on the ground mimicking how they kill rats in the wild).

  • love the stripe going down his/her face.... my dog would kill the rat..... i live out in the woods, so often I see jack (also a rat terrier) kill and mangle wood rats.... he brings them to me as if i want it as a present.

  • cute, my rat terrier wouldnt kill anything just play with it but i would never get a real rat for my dog to play with. Very cute though very cute all rat terriers are very intellegent and happy dogs, thank god for rat terriers!

  • wow...crazy...rat terriers are bred to chase rats...I guess they grew up together as babies.....they are so cute!

  • I guarantee you that this isn't a scene that would play with our Rat Terrier... Mick would literally bite the rat in half !! and if he didn't our Miniature Pinscher would.. we have A LOT of chipmunks here and the boys LOVE to catch them.. and yeah... kill them. It's like, what they're designed for.. How on earth you taught your dog to not kill the rat is amazing, even if it was with the rat as a little puppy. instinct is instinct !!

  • Amazing, I don't think mine would play with a rat, they kill any little thing in the yard they can get a hold of.

  • i have the same dog but all white with black ears and a black spot on her 4head

  • Yup, one of my favorite breeds. My rat dog Sparky is so much fun and loveable. Your dog is so gentle.

  • ok why does she have a rat

  • i hat a rat terrier!!

  • if u hate em why did u watch??? Stupid person. Rat terriers r the best!!

  • He probably meant "had a rat terrier"

  • there fun nice hes just playing gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do they really listen to Beethoven?

  • good god, that looks exactly like my rat terrier, trixie. no lie. they best dog breed ever

  • your rattie is a very nice rattie. My boy Bo would have had the rats head off in 2 seconds flat! They are a wonderful breed though, aren't they? A lot of people have never even heard of them. I found mine under a trailer, abandoned, 4 years ago. He was just a pup at 2 months old. Best dog I've ever owned.

  • I love this breed too! I have another Rattie from the same rescue group and he's the love of my life, they both are :-) Best breed ever!

  • little???????? she is a big rat lol! I'm terrified of them

  • Cute!

  • Yeah, it's pretty clear that the rat is really enjoying playing with the dog, too. She could have gotten away several times! Or just dove right into the couch cushions! That was so incredibly cute -- I *love* rats, and I love rat terriers.

  • did that rat die

    lol

  • Not at all. Andy is super gentle with Binky.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG my Rattie would make mince meat out of that little guy. How coooool is that vid?? My darn dog can't even get along with my 2 cats much less he hunts (ahem kills) the little baby squirrels in our yard. I guess my little guy needs lessons from yours! Awesome vid!

  • Actually yours is doing it right. They're rat terriers, they're supposed to hunt for rats. Mine is just broken hahaha.

  • My co worker has a rat terrier and I really like his dog!

  • oh wow... i would be too afraid to let my rat terrier touch my rrat. she would break his neck

  • I hope cookie finds you. I'm sorry that you lost her in the storm. she is a hero and it could be that she saved something that you would have missed with out her jumping ship. The not knowing must be very hard. I'm wishing you the best in finding her.

  • my rat terrier would turn that rat into a rag doll before you could even start up the camera

  • Rat terriers are great predators!! They hold the world record for most rat kills in a single day by domestic animal. Cats don't even come close! I love rat terriers, they're awesome.

  • oh good i love rats thanks for clearing that up

  • poor rat i had a rat they rock

  • Binky the rat was NOT HARMED in any way. Andy would never hurt her.

  • man my rat terror is tiny lol

  • haha like true brother and sister

  • omg the rat terrier looks kinda like mine! great video!

  • That is crazy! I can't believe it! Boomer, my ratty, has killed numerous rats, lizards, and squirrels. He is a true hunter. I don't know how your ratter just plays with the rat.

  • I know it is crazy. Like I told zipbutt below, my other Rat terrier and my Chihuahua are great hunters, but not my Andy. Andy is just too sweet and nice to everybody, he loves people and all animals big and small. He was neutered at only 7 weeks old (not my choice, he came from a rescue) and maybe that quiet down all those hunting instincts? Not sure, maybe he's just too good of a boy. I love him to pieces.

  • That is SO cute. I am about to rescue/adopt a rat terrier and the only other one I've known was incredibly sweet, but she'd kill a rat in a few seconds even though she's a total 'fraidy dog in general. Thanks for sharing!

  • My two mini rat terriers kill 'em! This video is truly amazing to me. Even if a young pup, ratties will usually kill a rat instinctively. One of mine killed her first at 7 mos. of age.

  • I know, my Andy is one gentle sweet boy. My other Rat terrier and my Chihuahua would kill anything, but not Andy. He even plays nice with little lizards and froggies. Not too excited about the froggies 'cuz I know some may be poisonous so I don't let him play with them.

  • I have two Rat Terriers. I love your video.

  • ur rats giant!

  • Wow, considering rat terriers were bred to hunt and kill rats, this is cool that they get along.

  • it really is, that rodent would be in serious trouble if that was my ratty, must have been raised together. lol cute!.

  • wow, can't believe how well they play together maybe i should get my girl Macy a little rat to play with and so won't have to explain why my dog is a 'rat' terrier LOL. so cute, love the vid.

  • That is how my Rat Terrier plays with our kitten Charlie... they love each other!

  • That's exactly how my rat terrier plays with his little "sister", a miniature dauchand! So cute!

  • omg my terrier does the same thing

  • mhne has ears like that and was born with no tail

  • thats one of those rare rat terriers, most have their ears flopped over, but rare ones(1 in 10,000) was told from a professional breeder have ears that stick up.

  • really? i know this is an old comment, but could you tell me more, i found one at a gas station bout 6 mo's ago, and her ears are strongly erect and her tail is bobbed, are some of them born with bob tails? shes the best little dog ive ever had! i cant believe someone just obanded her like that.

  • not really, my brother talked to a professional breeder that wanted our dog for breeding purposes, and he said rat terriers aren't normally like the ones with their ears spiking up. He rejected the breeder, first because she was too old at the time to have another litter and second she just had recently had a litter and my brother had to help her or she would've died right there. But he said those kind of rat terriers are about 10,000 dollars.

  • are u serious?

  • Yeah, it might be a little bit of a stretch though. You might wanna ask a vet or a professional breeder. They would know more since rat terriers it seems to me are a younger breed.

  • lol thanks tho!

  • you're welcome, and good luck

  • Yes, some Rat Terriers are born with naturally bobbed tails, though most have their tails docked.

Erect ears seem to be preferred in the breed, but button and tipped ears are accepted too, as long as both ears are uniform.

  • thanks!

  • I dont think the rat is happy ! Wow....

  • Oh the rat loves it. She is totally able to escape him but she chooses not to.

  • that is nice because I love all animals but not Spiders...

  • Aww so adorable! i love the video my boy is sweet to plays with the guinea pig all the time! love the video... rats are the best breed of dog ever

  • I agree Ratties are the best!

You should post a video of your boy playing with the guinea pig!!!

  • I think this dogs are very smart...

  • Thanks a lot! Andy says thanks too!

  • THIS, would not happen with our Rat... he has learned to kill chipmunks and other critters due to his "master" Joey the Miniature Pinscher who LOVES to hunt and capture chipmunks... I love rat terriers... possibly my favorite breed ever.

  • I just adopted a 5 year old rat terrier his is the best! He never barks and is really sweet.

  • I know, I may be biased but Rat Terriers are the best breed ever! :-)

  • hell yeah

  • They are a great breed for people who are energetic, maybe a touch hyper, and want a devoted and loving dog.

  • I got a rat terrier. he likes to bark at the T.V.

  • OMG! It looks like my puppy! they even have the same colar! XP

  • My Rat Terrier looks EXACTLY like yours, and guess what...... Her name is Binky! Aren't they just the best dogs?

  • I have a Rat Terrier and also a Teddybear Hamster my Rat terrier snaps at my Hamster when she gets a chance to get close to her... usually when my Hamster is in her "Ball" and runs through the house my dog will push the Ball if it stops lol

  • You should make a video. I bet it's hilarious!

  • i only have a video camera in my phone and it kinda sucks.. i made one video where she's "grooming my sons hair" it's here on youtube called Terry and Lady taken with my Phone you can see what i mean about it sucking

  • Now that is just WRONG!!!! LOL. That rat wouldn't last 3 seconds with ANY Of my 7 rat terriers. They KNOW what they are supposed to do. Cute though.

  • I know, he's just a softie! I don't think he realizes he's supposed to hunt rats haha! Andy is just special like that. I would never let my other rat terrier, Kenyi, near a rat... he would destroy it in a couple of secs.

  • lol yah mine either! She'd eat it at first sight lol :)

  • Amazing! My rat terrier would go berserk at any rat/mouse.

  • my dog is a rat terrier chihuahua and he's cute like your dog

  • Actually, Andy is also a mix. He's a rescue, his mom is pure rat terrier but we don't know the dad, maybe he was a chihuahua.

  • Your dog is so cute

  • Thanks a lot! He's a sweetheart.

  • My Rico would be the same way! He is a rat terrier

  • I just love animal videos! God Bless the animals!

  • Thanks :-)

I just love how Binky the rat acts like she's bothered by Andy the puppy, but when she's able to run away instead she keeps bumping into him for more play!!! hehe!

  • Aww! VERY CUTE!

  • Rat and Rat terrrier... Now i get it

  • My baby is the cutest!!!
