tell me about it Delta kept me 6.5 hours in a cramped 737 with only one drink from JFK to LAX. the only good part was there was live tv available which only worked 2 hours of the 4 :(
They use both the 752 and the 738 for this route. The 752 is MUCH better than the 738 but really any wide body beats them both in terms of comfort. Delta usually uses the 738 for late night flights when they think there aren't enough passengers for the 752.
I've never been on a 737-900ER but i don't know how much better than the 752s they would be. I know boeing built them as a replacement for the 752. I really hope the ones delta get are spacious b/c most 737s are not spacious at all!
well if you read my questions, i said they are not safe for transatlantic flights because of their low fuel capacity. In case of weather, delay, or holds, they wouldn't be able to have enough reserve fuel. thats all
@anush10 yea thats why i dont like flying the 757 from fra to jfk last time the weather was really rough (40-50 knts crosswind) and we couldnt divert to any other airport because we didnt have enough fuel for it. so we made one hell of a landing thats for sure.... along with the right wingtip scraping the ground....FUN!!!!
I love those plane landings. It's a great feeling when the plane speeds up right before it lands. And you're ears are wide open again! Aheh it also always amazes me how a pilot can land a small plane on a tiny runway from miles high. From that high it's just a little dot.
The whining noise is actually the hydraulic demand pumps running, not the flap actuators. the demand pumps on the 767 run whenever there is a high amount of demand on the hydraulic system (flap movement, landing gear movement, ground spoilers, etc.) You'll notice that you also hear the noise in the video shortly after touchdown as the demand pumps activate to supply pressure for the ground spoilers. the noise stops very shortly after the spoilers are stowed.
I love this 767-300er?Really noisy hydralic system, but powerful i guess.Remember this aircraft is the mother of all fuel efficent twin engine widebody jets today.
i no ''starjay001'' lol and also other comments lyk 'young child moaning' ... was just the wind-speed and had to slow down as we wer approaching to fast ...furthest i seen thee flaps go down !
The flaps on the plane sounded like a seven year old moaning and complaining at first, but then, i realized what it was. haha. wow. That really was loud, I wonder why. They aren't usually that loud, especially on the B 757's, those are really quiet.
wow nice i rember when i fly to LaX we flew over the highway to.Its so an beautiful approch there flying minutes minutes over houses its so an big city.the best approach i ever seen was to miami when it was night. The lights there are so spectaculas.:-)
Wow, that's wierd to see a stubby-short 767?

Nice video, but I wonder if the whining sound at 0:50 is the flap motor or a child...
voldemort00 1 year ago
@voldemort00 Seeing as to how the flaps move down during time.. and don't prior to that, it's the flap motor. :D

This route is easy for a 737-800.
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
might be easy for the plane but its not for the passengers!

How come delta uses 738s on this route?

anush10 3 years ago
actually Delta should've ordered 737-900ERs to replace 752s on some routes. A 737-900ER would be better
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
I've never been on a 737-900ER but i don't know how much better than the 752s they would be. I know boeing built them as a replacement for the 752. I really hope the ones delta get are spacious b/c most 737s are not spacious at all!
anush10 3 years ago
Delta wouldn't use a 739ER on transatlantic flights because the 752 has more range.
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
agreed. the 752 isn't all too great for across the ponds either.
anush10 3 years ago
but still, the 737-900ER is better for US domestic flights than a 757
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
probably based on fuel efficiency but my favorite thing was when delta used the triple 7 on the atlanta to JFK route
:)
anush10 3 years ago
or the seven seventy seven as some people call it.
I wonder if any US carrier operated the 747-400D, would the 744D do LAX-JFK?
cubsrule2040 3 years ago
That would be amazing to see.

dublin and belfast airport get many 757`s from the states
stfergus608 2 years ago 5
they should make a protest against using 757s for transatlantic flights, they're uncomfortable and can be dangerous
anush10 2 years ago
They are ETOPS certified meaning that they are perfectly capable of flying the route.

@anush10 youre right in some ways! the 75 is real small. maybe change it to like 767-400 more wider bodies

A boeing 767 is not exactly a "small plane" as you called it in your post. It is considered a jumbo jet, though not as big as the 777's and 747's.

actually its not a dot the pilot can see the whole runway

like wen this flight was fliying over the 405 freeway in the other delta plane the flaps were bearly let out to 40 degrees
