I really think that this Queen needs to see a dentist. Also, she needs a new wardrobe designer. Her clothes are awful. However; she is a wonderful Queen and bless her and her consort.
@Milton754 I agree with the dentist, although I believe she goes there regularly! But she's a heavy smoker! But I totally disagree on the thing with the new wardrobe designer! Well, only a matter of taste, I suppose...hehehe
It is so informal.. Atleast compared to the rigorously ceremonial british parliament opening.I didnt understand the purpose of the queen coming here with her entire family... She hardly did anything except chatting with pm and sitting like a visitor.
And by the way the queens sons dont stay with her o wat why did she greet them again formally outside parliament...
We are not in disagreement. Of course, the "Most Gracious Speech from the Throne," is written by the Prime Minister, and the monarch, by convention, may not add or subtract a word. I think it was George V who remarked about the inconvenience of having to read someone else's speech while wearing a 39 oz. crown on your head!
My mum told me that if i was going to marry a girl I should not marry I girl who I find at the clubs or pubs. But, my mum was wrong. Look at what happened to Marie now a princess. She met the Prince of Denmark at a pub in Tasmania.
@convener777 LOL my mom tell me the same about guys. but really the only place to really meet people is at the bar or a party. i mean i'm in uni so what other options are there. my job is full of old people. Marie is a lucky woman
Apparently, in Denmark, the royal family has been totally emasculated, and is allowed to keep its riches and prestige on condition that it function merely as spectators to government. In England, they maintain the fiction that the Queen is in charge.
@mindspring57 lol. you are 'somewhat prudent withe the truth', as we say in the uk. it is so, so different here, compared to denmark. here, in the uk,the Queen is head of state, and does have complete auhtority. Her Majesty has the power to dissolve governments, still. it's part of the magna carta. therefore we are so, so differtent to our danish cousins. hope this helps
@gramule Well, okay, she has complete authority, on condition that she does not exercise it! I understand about "reserve" powers, and I think the tradition and symbolism should be maintained.
@mindspring57 you are on the right track mt friend, however the difference between denmark and the uk is that the Monarch here does still have the ultimate power to disolve her (note her) government (should there ever be a despot/fachist). in denmark, by contrast, the monarch is more symbolic.eg. consider the opening of parliament. in denmark the queen is an observer, in the uk, Her Majesty is at the centre of, and opens the parliament. in the UK we are subjects of the Queen too. hope this helps
@mindspring57 She has as much power as the crown upon her head. i.e. she exists for tourism purposes. Nothing more, and she never has in all her decades on the throne. The governemnt tell her what to do, ALWAYS. See Glorious Revolution, 1689. You need to catch up on history.
@maureenOWW Please read my message. I stated that the Queen's power is a fiction. But she is permitted to exercise it as if it were real, and that is what helps draw the tourists.
@gramule 'it is so, so different here, compared to denmark. here, in the uk,the Queen is head of state, and does have complete auhtority.' - you are living in a fantasy world. The Queen has had no influence over any decision that has taken place regarding the government of the UK in her entire reign. Not one iota. It is against the constitution to do so, all her powers are purely ceremonial, if she ever tried to exercise them she would be immediately replaced with someone less insane.
@maureenOWW Also...'here, in the uk,the Queen is head of state' - ALL QUEENS AND KINGS ARE HEADS OF STATE, THAT'S WHY THEY EXIST. SAME IN DENMARK, CANADA, NORWAY AND EVERY OTHER MONARCHY. You insane nutjob.
@maureenOWW lol. Her Majesty has the ultimate executive authority over the government of the United Kingdom and through the monarch's royal prerogative, the goverment governs. Her Majestys powers may only be used according to laws enacted in Parliament, and, in practice, within the constraints of convention and precedent, however, we have a constitutional monarchy. Look for example at her power in Austrailia, sacking the PM. Incidently, HM is Queen of 16 countries. Hope this helps.
THIS ROYAL FAMILY IS BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE VERY MUCH. THE QUEEN, Prince Frederik and Princese Mary, Prince Joaquim and Princese Marie. ALL......VERY VERY NICE AND VERY CHARMING.

Mary has a hairstyle that resembles the anatomy of a person's colon.
