  • I like it, has a great salty side to it, and yea, I was in the US Navy... Thank you, I enjoy it all the time

  • So sorry, but how can you pretend to be one of the best folk singers of all time singing one of the best and haunting songs ever. Good try though.

  • @moodysaaber99 I'll have some of what you're smoking! I never laid claim to being the best of anything? Where did you hear that? I'd be interested to know.

  • @moodysaaber99 this man never clamed to be anything. he did an outstanding job of this song. he's been nothing but a gentleman to anyone who commets here. i will welcome you to take your negitive commets elsewhere

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye. Your version does the same. Nice job.

  • @agooga That blows my mind. Thank you so much for telling me. God bless you.

  • @josephcormier Great interpretation of this song! I can't sing it this well anyway, but this particular song is one of my favorites. Always play it on November 10 of every year since I learned about the Fiztgerald's sinking in my ninth grade Literature class.

  • @Fireheart528 Thank you. I will soon have to learn the new version though. God bless you.

  • played this for my brother awhile back. i think sumed it up pertty good. gorden lightfoot sang it like a news anchor reporting a story on the 11 o clock news. you sing it like a man sitting around a campfire telling a story.

  • @357daedalus Well thank you so much. It's that type of song though. I think you're right. Great camp fire song. God bless you/

  • @josephcormier hope you didn't take that wrong. we both meant it as complement

  • @357daedalus No. All is well. Please watch my new video. We need your help. GOD BLESS YOU

  • @357daedalus No. Thank you so much for your comments. I really appreciate them.

  • This song has such a haunting story and captivates the listener. I'm proud to say I still own a 45RPM copy of it from my teenage years, but what an awesome version you put together! My compliments go out to you...you did him proud!

  • @cabamama Thank you so much for your kind words. God bless you. And God bless Gordon Lightfoot.

  • noice!

  • Excellent job! From a Veteran of the Navy....impressed by your remake!

  • @Malique2 Glad to have a fellow military aboard. I am happy you liked the new version. God bless you.

  • It gets me every time I hear this song,as the fitz was a regular fixture at the old Lorain port authority when I was young. I & my buddy would see it from the Erie Avenue bridge crossing the harbor going fishing in Lake Erie. It utterly dwarfed all the other local freighters completely. I was spellbound every time by the sight of the great ship. Anyway, this version sounds like it's being sung by an aging sailor. Cool.

  • @unionrdr Aging, but not a sailor. Love your comment. God bless you.

  • Joe I love you will you marry me?

  • @robino293 Don't you think we should get together first?

  • @robino293 Yes I will!

  • Thank you,Sir for wonderful video...

  • Thank you,Sir ....

  • This is awesome, and I cannot do a better job at rating it than 1314Scott. Is this Gordon Lightfoot singing this song ? He sounds a lot different. Still a great song though. What words were recently changed ?

  • @therealegj2tx This is me singing and my Son playing guitar. I'm not quite sure of the word changes. I only hear that Mister Lightfoot had to change it due to new finding as to the cause of the wreck. Thanks for your support.

  • i think the changes in the words in this tune where about port hole window being left open witch years later was proved to be untrue the Edmund Fitzgerald was sank by a micro burst hens a micro burst tune here"s to you Gordon makes me proud to be canadian god speed to you

  • @therealegj2tx No, this is me singing. Yes the words were changed by Mister Lightfoot. God bless him.

  • This song tears me up inside . Im a retired commercial fisherman in Wisconsin , and every year at this time I cry because I always think about the families of the Fitzgerald . God Bless the families of the crew of a great ship .

  • @1314Scott God bless you Sir. You are the true heroes.

  • nice song

  • always a great song about a very sad day for the families. God Bless them

  • I am inspired to learn this song now! btw I live in Wisconsin

  • @TarkovODSTHelljumper You will have to learn the new lyrics. Lightfoot changed it recently. Thanks for listening.

  • I left you a comment before, and everytime I decide to listen to this song, I choose yours. its sooo awesome.... good vocals and guitar :)

  • @rytheman19 Thank you SO MUCH. I just got back on line. So glad you liked it!

  • Great song, and great job singing it.

This is a nice break of all crazy stuff that is constantly going on.

    Thanks for recording it

  • This song gives me a rarity of any song ever sung for humanity-goose bumps. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • @oniallain1965 Thank you very much. God bless you.

  • Of course it isn't Gordon Lightfoot, but still his song, good images, and I do like the sigers voice, reminds me of the crew singing on the Tallship Elissa.

  • great "take" on a brilliant singer Gordon Lightfoot and a sad but neat story of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald... was wondering if you could do a song dedicated to my Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie on the Deadliest Catch...? just curious... miss my Phil...

  • @DERedhead65 What song did you have in mind? I can certainly try.

  • @josephcormier not sure... Capt. Phil passed at in Feb of this year, sadly... He was the Captain of the Cornelia Maried on the Deadliest Catch crabbing show on Discovery Channel. Do you know any songs about sea captains that have passed on? just curious... and ty. Smiles...

  • @DERedhead65 Just the one I wrote call the passing of the jenny lynn, Type it in, it should come up.

  • @josephcormier Wouldn't "Fiddler's Green" be appropriate? It's for ALL the sailors who have passed.

  • You can feel the love and respect for the Fitz in this. I have watched a lot of Fitz memorial videos and I have read every book on her sinking...you have yourself a fan, sir. I salute you.

  • @luketdrifter2100 Thank you very much. I need all the help I can get.

  • Bring on Gordon not some dude sounding like George Burns in his final days...

  • @KauaiGtan Thanks! This is the funniest comment I ever got! Still laughing!

  • @KauaiGtan You've got to be kidding me.(I saw Gordon sing this in the early 70's. He was so trashed he quit the show and stumbled off the stage. Columbus, Ohio. He is a great writer, but he was hanging around with the girl who messed up John Belushi. It was the worst show I have seen in my 59 years.)

That is besides the point. I LOVE this version!!!

  • fgrr

  • Gordon Lightfoot IST VIEL BESSER ALS DAS HIER

  • @Metten4070 Thank you. I love Germany, but don't speak the language.

  • this is int Gordon lightfoot this is fake gaaaayyyyy

  • @323sarge Calm down sarge, you'll have a stroke. Read what it says. Thanks for you comment. I laughed!

  • Nice cover

  • Gordon Lightfoot is awesome singer, his music is poetic by the least. I like this version too. It sounds as if one of the family members is singing it.

  • @evilangal1976 That is a wonderful comment. People say I sound like him. I don't see it myself though. Thank you very much for your awesome comment. This is why I do this. To make people happy.

  • nice vid, but you could at least credit the fine artists who's work you feature

  • @1Ocqueoc That would be my son Dylan. He lives here, so he certainly gets all the credit. Thanks for watching.

  • Excellent cover! Very fine voice for this song. Loved it!

  • @josephcormier Your voice is just fine, your soul shines through it.

  • @peto0101 WOW! That's the nicest comment I ever received. Thank you, and God bless you.

  • Great song and vid. Many thanks for uploading this . Really worthwhile.

  • @peto0101 You are most welcome.

  • @ProveItsReal It's simple really. In the music business, fellow musicians don't critique each other. It simply isn't done. If you suck, you won't be in the business, as you will have no followers. If 11 people say GUILTY, and One says, Not GUILTY, who is centered out as the shit disturber? And B, any publicity is good publicity. Thanks for your comments. God bless you.

  • @ProveItsReal Because you are being honest, and not telling me you have the credentials to critique me. Thank you again.

  • @ProveItsReal THANK YOU!

  • yeah, I'm a fan.

  • Very nice! Thank you for sharing.

  • Awesome video hard to believe theres 2 dislikes

  • @GuitarPicker95 I agree my new friend. Thank you for listening.

  • @GuitarPicker95 Just visited your Channel. Keep on pickin' you'll be a pro in no time. Good stuff.

  • @josephcormier Thanks!

  • this sucks the guy is not singing the lyrics to the music

  • @squashpro123456 Sorry, but I don't understand your comment. I am singing the lyrics to the music. The recording engineer, who's had thirty years experience, would have told me that. He didn't . My suggestion is, as I've been in this business for forty years, if you don't like it, don't listen to it. If you can do any better, please feel free.

  • Dude that is an awesome version! Good work!

  • great video. god bless the ship and her crew

  • this is AMAZING! What a GREAT rendition!

  • @ashleymarie11887 Thank you very much my new friend. I love making friends on here. The more the better. I am rich with friends.

  • love our sailors, iam native

  • @smvalive Thank you very much. It is my honor to meet you, a fellow native.

  • @speedburnervideo I Would submit to you, that If you think you can do any better, go right ahead. Upon reviewing several of your videos, I would say that no, you cannot. All you are capable of is plugging a strat into several dozen pedals, until no one can tell if the sound is originating from a guitar or a group of flamboyant mexican homosexuals strangling a wounded lake weasle into a coma with a length of pork sausage infront of a microphone.

  • @speedburnervideo I got 13,000 hits on this one, and over 200,000 on the original I put up. The intro is the same as lightfoots. Would you talk to him that way. There is only one negative comment on this song. That is yours. You just centered yourself out. Was that your purpose? Or are you just a cronic complainer?

  • Amazing, nice job singing this awesome tribute to sea heroes!

  • @todaupah Thank you for your positive comments. God bless you.

  • This is an amazing song, i just downloaded to my Ipod because i liked very much and it gave me goose bumps. Thanks for uploading this song to YouTube. God Bless to all the men who lost there life on that day.

  • @trucks105 Thank you very much for listening. If I can give one person goose bumps, my job is done.LOL!

  • Very good vocals. Never seen someone sing this song better than you... well a cover.... you did an awesome job.... it sure is sad what happened that night

  • @rytheman19 Thank you. Yes, it is a sad song.

  • Haunting!

  • @onyhebus Apparently Gordie had to change the words recently. Due to new info on the sinking.

  • i listened to this song, and my first reaction was

"bs. i dont want to listen to some crappy cover"

then 5 seconds into the song, i realized that that this is awesome o_O

  • @minkomadness Well thanks for the comment. God bless.

  • I have to say this is very well done..to the point of bringing a tear to my eye..very nice pics...at least now the sailors that lost their lives can rest in peace and the families of the sailors now can rest at ease knowing the truth...AWESOME..watching for 2nd time

  • @kozyrosie Thank you. God bless you and yours.

  • I have to say this is very well done..to the point of bringing a tear to my eye..very nice pics...at least now the sailors that lost their lives can rest in peace and the families of the sailors now can rest at ease knowing the truth...AWESOME..watching for 2nd time

  • @Papicholo1 I love spanish. Should do this one in spanish.

  • what is your general location? I lived in Minnesota and wrote the very first song about the sinking of the Fitz. The name of the song was Twenty-NIne More Men. I would be interested in discussing a project which would be about the lakes, Minnesota etc.

  • Sounds like a plan, remember, I'm not real mobile though. Live thirteen miles from nearest town. No car, no money. Shit happens though, EH!

  • Great song about men at work who died doing their job.

  • Thank you. God bless you for understanding.

  • An easy 5 stars

    Now featured on my channel.

  • @atrumira Thank you. God bless.
