I suppose ABC really had to sell the news. I was a kid back then and I think we pretty much watched all ABC shows, a few CBS and next to nothing on NBC. ABC had the hit prime-time shows but I don't think anyone watched their news. CBS and NBC had decades of respect. ABC had nothing. So, you can see their "just try us, please! attitude in the ad. I think it took Nightline (1979)to give it some respect. Eventually 20/20 would be a primetime hit and those viewers began to tune into ABC News.
Aw, Peter Jennings and Anwar Sadat (shown in the news footage with him shaking hands with Menachem Begin and Jimmy Carter). Both men I deeply admire, both now gone from this Earth, both deeply missed. RIP.
And I think this announcer is still heard on the occasional promo for ABC News, isn't he? At least I still remember him until very late in the Peter Jennings era...

The newscaster at 0:18 looked like Bernard Shaw.

I actually liked the 3 anchor format.

For some reason, newscasts with two or more anchors usually has less criticism from viewers than newscasts with a single anchor.
