  • i live next to famosa and i would still never go to these kinds of things

  • zecamala1234 the sand slows u way down too, the car weight like 2000lbs at most l, I have had the unfortunate event of hitting one of those nets its sucks

  • What they need to do is invest some money into these cars so that if the computer onboard senses the car isn't slowing down, it fires the pyrotechnics and ejects the driver out of the car were he can parachute down safely, were talking only 30 pounds of added weight but its the difference between safety and death.

  • A 200 MPH car and just a net to hold it?

    Is is a joke?

  • This track is deadly

  • steady, i feel like i was in the car !

  • Pro drag racing is dangerous kids.... people die. But I agree they should improve the end safety stop areas .... Restrictor plates ala NASCAR to limit HP and speed? However when they lose control, blow up it can end ugly. They know they can die doing this.

  • Was wondering if some kind of hook and cable arrangement, like that used on aircraft carriers for arresting jet fighters..might somehow be made to work? I agree with popz..as long as the "good ole boy club" continues to exist within the NHRA hierarchy,Nothing of any significance will change. I realize that as long as there has been, "men & machines" there will always be accidents...but, I think that in drag racing, with a relatively short track, that A LOT more can be done to save lives.

  • @Cartunzz

I am sorry about Neal, your friend but, the official NHRA Net System sucks and needs to be updated with something that won't crush a car but catch it and slow it down to 0 MPH and keep the driver alive. Getting to talk to NHRA is like trying to talk to the President

So, NHRA won't do anything to fix the problem.

  • @popz01251947 well the problem with what you want is that the g forces involved in an emergency stop will be about -14 g's, enough to kill you 2 times over

  • @Narutofan1000k Not if the emergency stop is not sudden like the nets and barrels are the way they are.. A carrier jet pilot gets stopped from about 200 mph to 0 in a few seconds and sure there are G forces but the pilot does not die. The nets need to be redesigned and I have a good idea but NHRA won't talk to anyone, they have all the answers. As long as they do, people like Neil will die from stupidity.

  • Neal had a massive heart attack when he left the line ! He was a close personal friend!

  • people bumping into you or not...that's still crappy camera work...got me sea sick

  • What camera are you using?

  • You should have got your hand out of the pants of the guy next to you before you film this Mr Jerk off....who has to give the guy next to you a handy wile filming....fags.

  • saw your son this

  • cant be that reliable if they snap off they should come up with a stronger design or have a back up system

  • you should get a gold medal for filming

  • Couldn't see a damn thing. Camera wasn't steady enough.

  • they need to start making the chutes more reliable

  • @victoriadish they are reliable the ones I fold come out everytime. No one could of known that was going to happen. It's just a chance you take drag racing.

  • that is a good picture, what type of camera you use?

  • @Lolicon2008 i don't have the actual crash on video, but i do have the race. not sure if i want to post it yet tho :/

  • ya know .. why cant they make a design just like jets use on a aircraftcarrier im mean they have the wheelie bar already there.

  • @1077fan Ha! easy for you to say... Try being still with people bumping into you, and not to mention I'm zoomed on an object 2,000 feet away ;)

  • @jgong8638 i dont know what hes talking about coming from someone who has filmed at the races you did awesome!

  • This track is just TOO DAMN SHORT... for todays cars!!!! I used to attend the Summernationals thru the 70's n 80's. When will NHRA and assoc. do something about this track???

  • Englishtown is a cursed track.

  • Comment removed

  • Kinda hard to see anything with the cam your holding bouncing all over the place

  • vwsambafc, dont worry, you'll get over it, life WILL go on

  • Englishtown Raceway Park should be shut down until they extend the sandbox, put a real retention net system and possibly water barrel system with smaller barrels.

After Scott died the track should have been closed but no, they went from 1/4 mile to a 1000 feet system thinking that would do the trick. Well guess what?

Neal Parker is dead! What exactly did he die from? Hitting the barrels?

NHRA and the State Police are not saying what caused his death.

NHRA thinks they know it all !

  • @popz01251947 top alky dont run on 1000 feet dude only top fuel

  • @juniorracer1995 - I know alky cars 1/4 mile and not the 1000' that Top Fuel runs and that was my point, the track is too short for 1/4 mile racing if there are problems with the car.

  • @juniorracer1995 - Second, Alky FC and Dragsters should use a stronger and heavier guage frame like Top Fuel because they fold up too easy as Mark Niver's Dragster did.

Third, the track and all tracks need a newly designed net catching system, that catches the car, scrubs off the speed while in the net and then the net lets go so that emergency teams can get to the driver.

    Thanks

    Popz

  • @popz01251947 my dad said the net should have been less tight for mark niver to live and quite frankly there shouldnt have been a catch net so early in the sand trap it should have been further back

  • @juniorracer1995 - If the track had the tower at the end that now is the sand and net and the nets and sand was moved to where the tower is, then possibly the farmer who owns the land at that end of the track would allow the track to extend the shutdown area, thus the nets could be further apart.

The way it is, there is a highway or busy road only a short distance from the shutdown area so no room to spread things out.

    Popz

  • @popz01251947 then they should build an overpass over the freeway ;)

  • @juniorracer1995 - It could be done but would cost millions of dollars to do an overpass. Cheaper and easier to have the tower at the freeway end.

    Popz

  • @popz01251947 doesnt the track go downhill? so if the tower was at the other end they would be going up?

  • @juniorracer1995 - It really should not make a difference. If all the cars go down or up it is fair to everyone.

All I know is the track is no good for cars that go 200+ MPH whether it be a 1/4 mile or a 1000 feet.

The track would be good for ADRL 1/8 mile extreme racing because then you have a nice long shutdown area.

The whole idea is to never lose a life!

    Popz

  • @popz01251947 but alky car run 1320 still duh

  • @popz01251947 old bridge raceway is a piss poor track. the safety features that the track presents is what they have if the drivers think that the track is unsafe they don't have to race there is no way that the track can be extended because of a road that runs behind the track scot did because or his own system failure and so did neal parker bolth of the deaths did not occur because of the track but of the race crews failure

  • No his name is Neal. Go to NHRA website. Check your info before you go giving false corrections.

  • folks, its NEIL Parker, not NEAL Parker.. watch the news, come on

  • @Firemedic1001 I would go with the NHRA's spelling of NEAL before I would trust the 'news'. geeez ;)

  • @Firemedic1001 you might want to delete your comment as its wrong and makes you sound like a fool.

  • @Firemedic1001 yeah i believe what NHRA's website says b4 the news any day.

  • @Firemedic1001...it's NEAL. and don't tell me otherwise because he was a friend.....

  • We used to run drag bikes there, and I thought it was a great track. It always hooked well, and if it wasn't national caliper, they would not have a national.I live 15 miles from Dinwiddie, and it has a really long shut down, but that does not prevent accidents.

A freind runs a T/A funny, and went thru the trees at Bud's Creek when the chutes did not open, but he got out OK.Accidents happen.

    RIP Neal

  • they should have 5 catch fences not 2 dragracegirl

  • 1:57 the guy says not again RIP Scott Kalita and Neal Parker :(

  • @kartracer241 good ear..

  • @kartracer241 thats because i think the run before or a few run before this one another funny car went into the sandtrap

  • @monsterchopper1992 You're right...The race prior to this one..Shutes didn't open (be he had brakes) Hit the netting at probably 100mph. Was a 40 minute delay while they repaired/replaced the netting only to be destroyed the very next run.

  • @kartracer241 Am I missing something? This video was from last years race and Neal Parker was killed at this years race. How would anyone say RIP Neal Parker when he was still alive when the video was shot?

  • @LLLosingit i watched the video 2 days after he died im just payin my respect.

  • ^^ I was working at the race when it happened... RIP Parker

  • @lipglossfunk ...i was there too....and i'll be going to neal's viewing tonite...he was one of our hometown heros :(

  • they need to quit racing at this shithole deathtrap of a so called race track,no run off area at all, cheap bastards wont buy the land for an adequit shutdown area, another death in 2010

  • @trussyard.. the the following winter of kalittas death they lengthened the end of the track a little over 600 feet, That is almost another 1/8 mile to stop, They added also 5 systems at the end of the track to stop these beastly cars. But think about it- How are you gogin to stop a car thats going 200-300 mph already adn it just stop, anyway, upon impact death will be inflicted. Think logically before you speak out against things like this, they need to now concern safety of the funny cars

  • Comment removed

  • @topfuel567 -- they lengthened the track over 600 the past season after scott died, and they put in 5 ways at teh end of the track to try and stop cars from going through. Be logical and think- how exactly do you try and stop a car thats already at 200-300 mph to stop, it just doesnt work now does it? its not the tracks fault, it all comes down to the car. All drag racers when they set foot in their car assume all risks involved with drag racing, id know this beause i am a drag racer myself

  • There are seven tracks that run NHRA nationals that are at least 200' shorter

  • Comment removed

  • @topfuel567 ..what the fuck did you say?? that was way to much work to read that bullshit comeback. you sound uneducated as hell. and yes, i am a bitch, just not your bitch. come to englishtown and say that shit to my face pussy!! we'll fill a pothole in with your ass.

  • duh ! ! ! ! how many lifes is it gonna take to realize that this fucken track needs to be lengthen ? or this track needs to be cut from the NHRA circuit. Another track that is an accident waiting to happen is "NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird Raceway 2010" there is a bridge that goes right across the top of the end of the track. if a top fuel car goes air born like LARRY DIXON has before. It will be another life lost. I only dislike this video do to safety concerns

  • e-town is not short.

  • at least he didn't die. thats the 3rd time in three years someone has done that. scott kallita died and Neal Parker just died on friday.

  • @43labontepetty Was Parkers death caused by the wall at the end of the track, same as Kallita?

Why don't they just do away with the wall? Maybe they added more catch fences?

  • @iowabucks kalitta didn't die from the wall. i learned a horrible truth this saturday when i went. we parked next to the NHRA supernationals assistant race director. he told us that they found scott in four pieces. it was a result of the explosion at the finish line.

  • @43labontepetty ...his car exploded twice

  • @fmxmulishagurl yes. once at the finish line and a small one when he hit the wall at the end of the sand pit.

  • @43labontepetty Ugh, that sound like a horrible death! =( RIP

  • @Bluestorm5 he died instantly so it wasn't as bad as i couldve been.

  • @iowabucks parker died by the wall but kallita died from the explosion at the finish line.

  • @43labontepetty yea, but I don't know what Neal Parker's crash look like.... can u explain to me please? RIP to both of them.

  • @Bluestorm5 i didin't have a good look at it. but im pretty sure he just had his parachutes not deploy and his brakes went out. just a bad combo and he hit the end wall very hard. also he was 58 and died of internal injuries. he would probably have been more prone to fatal injury.

  • @43labontepetty wait..... WALL? Is there supposed to be a net there?

  • Shut down area looks short,as does the catch trap.

  • @1skippyman the shutdown at E-Town actually isnt that short there are plenty of tracks on the circuit that are shorter

  • @1skippyman but in acuallity it is more than double the quarter mile

  • Actually not a cord failure but an anchor failure. The chutes are attached to bosses on the rear end housing which failed, damaged the brake hydraulic lines in the process- she had no chutes, no brakes. Tore up the car but she walked away, can't ask for any more than that. NHRA has since made changes in the required material specs for those anchors.

  • Thank You!!! Much appreciated clarification. Very interesting. After seeing all these crashes at races and watching everyone walk away I'm impressed with the safety gear/builders. I hope Kalitta is the last BAD one I ever see
