@RLviddy You are most fortunate, never to have been so desperately depressed and exhausted, and broken, that you are quite literally too weak to fix a meal for yourself. Yet- you are hungry. Hence, the eating of the raw meat.
@sebastianquilt No, she had an abortion, hence the scene in the hospital, hence the dream in which she sees god in a doctor's coat and mask. Poor Dorothy. And look at Benchley at 5:14, racked with all those emotions about it. He looks almost heartbroken, or as though he feels guilty for her pain, not being there enough for her, etc.
@sebastianquilt Alcohol, caffeine, other substances were not known, in those years, to be harmful to a fetus. And since most fetuses seemed to develop just fine, most likely certain substances - in moderation - didn't cause problems. The poisons in our environment today are nearly as toxic.
@annikee59 I am surprised that you say that the accent is not right. I do not know what it should sound like, but Leigh is known to research the people she plays, especially the voices. Still i think she does an excellent job with the part.
What does she eat at 7:50? Is it raw meat? Never did quite understand that whole moment.

@SisterRags That's about the most insanely negative interpretation of the question that you could have possibly accomplished. Congrats.

So she kept drinking like that when she was pregnant?
And @ 9:47 -- No, Dorothy! The weenie loves you back, look into his sad, doggie eyes!!! :(

Would've been marvelous if Leigh had gotten Dot's accent correctly done. But the Darien whine doesn't work.

I notice that Benchley is the only person who never calls Dorothy Dot or Dottie. I wonder if this was true in real life.
