  • You have experienced the REAL deep Japan.

  • i love ur videos because they show how japan in real life would be(":

  • R.I.P i only knew you through your videos but i need to say that you must have been a wonderful person.

  • He seems like such a nice and cool dude...would have been cool to get to know him cause I just love everything Japan and I'm thinking about going over there. I love all his clips on YT...so he left a mark in this world...and people are enjoying his stuff...I guess you can't really ask for more than that when you pass on. Well...his stuff always puts a smile on my face...cool dude...see you up there some day

  • Looks lovely!! Thanks for sharing.

  • so that festival a one time in the year kind of celebration?

  • that is what i call "cool" :D

now i want to go toooooo

  • I wish I could attend anything remotely close to the Obon Festival. It looked so beautiful, with the yukata, music and lanterns lit up in the dark. I'm more drawn to that side of Japan than the 'otaku' side.

  • What a great time we live in - we get to watch you enjoying a festival in Japan, something I never thought I'd see. Very cool to have a glimps at what's going on in another country - thank you so much!

  • Oh, you were so lucky! =D That festival looked beautiful! =) (I love the traditional music!)

  • wow must have been really cool. i would have loved to see the lanterns at night too : )

  • Ponyo!

  • very interesting! thanks

  • So far, I'm liking Iwate Swan a LOT better than Tokyo Swan. Tokyo Swan was a lot of fun, because there's a lot of crazy, pretty out-there things in Tokyo and it's so immense. But there's really this other-worldly charm to the rural towns. And I kind of like that feeling. The feeling of a community being a little more tight-knit.

Man, I gotta visit Japan sometime, I would love to see these rural areas.

  • Good to see that the sunburn from ep. 3 is getting better. ^_^

  • Wow thats soooo awesome. I would love to visit a rural town in Japan. Sounds like some really cool times for you. Keep sending us those V-blogs. Oh are you still reviewing asian horror and are you still in touch with your friends back when you were going to school in Japan? Take care Swan!

  • Very cool, thanks for sharing! :)

  • Dude, fuckin funny shizzle. Did I tell you about my friend who was a Jet in Okayama? That dude was in the same boat as you, except got himself a reputation cause he was kinda a play and woulf bring back girls to his house and make loud sexual noises through out the night, but he lived with the other teachers in building and shizzle. Of course YOU don't have to worry about anything ;)

  • wow Rodg... did I spy a whole wall of photos in the background? What are they of?

Looks like you're getting a true nihon experience out there, I wonder if you're going to make a video showing us your school, if you're allowed!

Got the boyf over this weekend, but I'll send you a nice long e-mail on FB on Monday. rabu rabu x

  • thx for this amzng video i makes me more to go to japan sometime

  • Kendama's origin is in my region, Hatsukaichi-city, Hiroshima!

    You really had good stuff!

  • yeah mingle with the locals Swan might find something of your liking u know

  • Aww the little girls running around were so cute ^^

It looked like a really fun time. Wish I could've gone ^^

  • DUDE!!!, that last bit made me think of home, and i realized something, ... i think i should live there, it seems nice, dont be surprised if i knock on your door one day, and say "Hi" lol, i am going to find a farmer to work for, even if it means for free.

  • im so glad to see REAL japanese culture, i cant wait to come and see, and see how rural japanese live, i love it, im from a rural place.

  • Great vid! I enjoyed watching your previous series of videos in Japan, and am glad your back to show us more!

  • nice video, looking forward to the later ones to come:)

  • Jealous. You got the real Japan out there. Not like Tokyo. Tokyo's not like most of Japan. It's more like Hong Kong. Envy.

Your full face beard is getting longer. Reminds me of when I was living in Ishikawa Prefecture.

  • Great stuff, Rodger. I think you should calls these "Well Done Iwate Swan" till your sunburns heal...

  • As always, another really cool video man!

  • I liked the music

  • awesome

  • Good stuff, this should get more views

  • i predict this video will get far less views than the previous 3 as it is a much more "traditional" japan video. That's how it went with my tokyo swan shows. Still, I think it's important to show this side of Japan.. it's not all manga and games haha ;)

of course, i am always thinking that all the videos will get far less views than they really do hah.

  • I just love the culture in japan, and i feel this deserves more views, but hey maybe because i just keep watching those huge internet stars abit much.

  • well its kinda amazing

I mean traditional dances and events... there aren't any in the US I believe

and I'm from germany, and there are certainly no such things here

its kinda amazing how the all "naturally" gather to such a traditional festival

    while being a modern society

  • BUt do remember that the people who do watch will cherish this :)

This is an awesome Video and I think you are very lucky to attend something like this. I have been Japan obsessed since I was 12 and when I watch these vids I remember the reason why I love Japan so much! Thank you Dude for these awseome videos!

  • Enjoyed this video, take care.

  • your beard looks really awesome, you should keep it that way.

  • wow, thanks so much for sharing.

  • Thanks again for uploading Rodger, How cute is the little girl in the kimono at the beginning. I love the little fans too.

You seem to be settling in just fine which is good.

    Take care x

  • Awesome. I liked the dancing woman in the kimono.

  • When are you gonna trim them whiskers there Swan? : D

  • Great video... looks like your going to put Iwate on the map now... lol

  • 次は神輿でわっしょいわっしょいをお願いします。

  • That's really cool that your meeting people in your neighborhood, it seems like most places only meet fellow JETs. Cool Stuff keep it coming!

  • Where is your intro music from?

  • my buddy back home makes all of the music for the show.

  • Reminds me of the fight scene in afro samurai when they are in the festival

  • the festival looked awesome swan i always wanted to experience a japanese festival theres a really good vibe about them XD! XD

  • the food possibly?

  • yes very unique food and the fun of it

  • I really enjoyed the video. Looks like a lot of fun.

Must be nice to have a festival close by.

  • Hey, really liked this video. Its funny how I actually look forward to seeing a new post! Looks like you recovered from the sun burn. Try any special Japanese remedies for the burn?

  • naw just soaked myself in cold baths and stayed inside lol.

  • Ha, was there goldfish scooping? I kept expecting to see the SOS Brigade walk by, or the Hiiragi twins. Great job as usual. I'm excited to be following along with you this trip. Thanks for including us.

  • i have heard about the obon festival, i think it was on a movie, karate kid i think it was.., nice video dude :D

  • man I wanna go to japan so bad, Om learning japanese right now, I cant wait some day im going there

  • cool!

  • currently its half 3 got exam results in a few hours so cant sleep.. ahh no matter what the time these vids make me smile :)

  • That made me laugh how you looked right before you turned the camra off at the end. It was like you were all happy, then a sad panda.

  • OMG that looked like it was so much fun! can't wait for next weeks vid. :)

  • Yay!

  • Dude sick.

  • I really like your show, its nice to have diffent views on japan

  • It looks like a fun place to be and a very nice way to gather with family.

  • Your adventures are awesome.

  • This looks like a blast! How does this new place compare to Tokyo? It's obviously not as exciting, but this place seems to be a more authentic and tradition representation of Japan. Can't wait for the next video!

  • really like the simple, honest style of all your vids!
