America's Got Talent! I would't call this a cover. I would call this a GREAT performance. I like how you covered the keyboard with the guitar. That takes talent. The vocals are spot on. The thing about songs that are covered by musicians & artists of today is that they are doing it way too much. Instead of calling it a cover , why not calling it what it really is. Karaoke. The only difference is that it's a well known professional recording artist. Musicians need to start writing more music when putting out albums to show they aren't riding the coattails of past songs that made the originals successful. Anyone can cover a song , but a real group will write their own songs.

I never knew this song was a cover. I just heard the original Bruce Springsteen version of this song & really do prefer the Manfred Mann's Earth Band version in comparison. It has more of a rock feel & instruments involved. It seems like , although original in it's own right , Bruce gave his version of his song a mediocre guitar solo version that wasn't very good at keeping a consistent rhythm to it. Manfred Mann's Earth Band at least gave it the defibrillator paddles & shocked it to life.

Bruce Springsteen wrote it and pronounced it as "cut loose like a deuce".  Manfred Mann's Earth Band changed the lyrics a little bit and the written version is "revved up like a deuce", but their lead singer on this track, Chris Thompson, pronounced it more like "wrapped up like a douche". The Boss himself has half jokingly said that that's the reason why their cover of his song was so popular! :)
