  • Is everyone really fighting about who's natural disasters are worse? You people are pathetic and disgusting.

  • lol iowa has something worse than hurricane winds anyways, tornado winds... which can be up to 400 miles an hour... hurricanes at max are up to about 175 for a category 5 while an f5 tornado is in excess of 400... next time try not to compare winds with people living in tornado alley

  • To iriemike, although you posted 2 months ago your statement still pisses me off. How could you compare 2 horrible natural disasters?? Both cities were fucked, both cities obviously paid for damages and recovery, and where did your tax money go? The exact same place ours went you stupid fuck, we're all in the same country and we all face natural disasters so id disregard your ignorant comment. Thanks

  • i lost my home and im still getting messed over by FEMA cause i still have no trailer and i have kids.

  • Google FEMA Camps or watch on You-Tube. It makes me nervous.

  • Did you ever experience hurricane force winds?

Alot of poor people do not have the money to leave or were not evacuated properly.

As you get older, when someone gives an opinion, you will know not to start off with Fuck yourself you bastard. Are you a Christian. I am not because I have seen the worst behavior form supposed Christians and I went to private Lutheran Schools my whole life. Christianity is crap as are all religions

  • What was the death toll? I keep hearing people compare the people of Iowa to the people of New Orleans. I do not see it as the same. A hurricane rips everything to shreds if it is a 3 or above. I do not see dead bodies in attics or floating in the water. Are people in Iowa just good old fashioned Nigger haters? I use the term with respect. I am not anti-anyone except David Rockefeller.

  • Fuck yourself you bastard. We aren't Katrina b/c we don't have Ray Nagin for a mayor, and we know enough to leave when the water floods our homes.

  • the comparison is because of the amount of damage that was done in terms of monetary value and the way downtown cedar rapids looked during the flooding, nobody is trying to discrespect what happened in new orleans they are just making a simple comparison

  • Thank for for a respectful response.

  • @marinello6 The comparison is in damage and ignorance to the degree of flooding we expected. Not to mention that amount of displaced Katrina victims who moved to Iowa to start again. I think they have a right to make the comparison. But yes, Iowa is EXTREMELY racists, but we're not all asshole.

  • @ILostTheWillToFight Understood!

  • The Czech area is going to be demolished ???

NOOO ..i hopoe not ,you cant let that happened,!!

I was there in 2000 and as a Czech I have a huge pride in history of midwest USA.

so please build the Czech and Slovak heritage museum again!

    thank u !

  • You'll be happy to know that they are recovering the museum. I think it might be open even. Not sure though.

  • I just got into my home yesterday, and my only thoughts are that the City should have backed off and let FEMA and the Red Cross do what they needed to do. They gave us inspection after inspection and gave us corresponding colors. Our first color was RED, which means it's unsafe to enter and whatnot, but then we had the Guy Williams (Cedar Rapids Fire Marshall) come in and inspect our house and he gave us a Yellow. Point is - The City had cabinet makers inspect homes -,-

    Pathetic.

  • Well we finally found something that smells worse than Penford. The nasty flood residue. Does anybody know about the Saddle and Leather shop in Czech town? I want to help them so bad.

  • The Czech area is going to be demolished for the most part. Its so sad.

  • I just passed through Cedar Rapids yesterday, and the water has completely receeded. But there is a lot of damage. Many of the buildings have been turned white and the streets are filled with debris. It smells like rotten fish all over the city.

  • THE OPEN prairie FIELDS OF IOWA ARE deforested. Much so like the Amazon Rainforest. We need conservation of wetlands and tall prairie grasses which absorb the heavy rain

  • yea i live 30 south of CR in Iowa City

  • no words... my prayers from NC

  • Unbelievable. The house I used to live in with 3 friends back in the late 90's can be seen at :42 in the top left corner of the picture. I knew it had to be bad since the museum was flooded but I had no idea it was that bad. :(

  • 0:31,wow...

  • Thanks for making this video. It helps out of town people get a perspective of where the flood hit our city

  • Same Dem & Rep will get re-elected. Where were the levees? Get used to it when WE THE PEOPLE insist in electing those that work for the corporate bottom line rather than the PEOPLE. This state will re-elect the same professional politican

  • Concerned00citizen - you're way off base. This flooding was so far beyond the norm it would be ridiculous to have expected our state government to have constructed levees for this kind of flooding that had never occured before. I'm proud of our Governor's response as well as that of the local officials and citizens. Sometimes it's appropriate to case blame - but this was not one of those situations.

  • This is a 500-year flood. They don't need to build a levee for a flood that won't occur until 500 years from now. If they want to build a levee around when it happens again, then they can, but for now they don't need to waste money on one that won't even have a use.
