What the fuck is wrong with the world!

  • An excellent tune!

  • EPIC freaking mullet.

  • Awesome song. And no, I am not deducting points for mulllets. It was the 80s. It was a workplace hazard for that era.

  • The 80',s suck.

  • @craighannah1

The 80's had the creative force that is still feeding today's overproduced copy cat music. 80's had everthing from Yngwie Malmsteen to Run DMC.... Entire genres were created that didnt exist....we still have those genres and only a few new ones... rave, emo, krunk ....whatever else came out in the 90's and 2000's. If you notice, alot of the new genres are club related. Yes, gangsta rap and grunge was in the 80's.

  • Studio is good , but live is real..if you can make it here you can make it anywhere ! LOL

  • chromatics version good too

  • This made the 80's better...love Kate Bush bonus with David Gilmour!!!!

  • This is what happens when two musical juggernauts collide.

    Love it.

  • To my ears her vocals aren't top notch here, why are people praising them so much? In the studio version she sounds a lot better.

  • Comment removed

  • @Jouwl I agree... the studio version is much better.... but this isn't bad!

  • @Jouwl They aren't. From the sound of it, it's not an easy song to sing.

  • du grand art!!!!!!!!! j adore!!!!!!!!!!

  • still so good

  • Better version than the original... The original version is also good, but I find this version better :)

  • great performance- Dave playing the lead on his guitar sounds much better than the original version on the synthesiser

  • une merveille :Kate Bush, musique, voix, physique, tous est parfait, une magnifique ,géniale, talentueuse chanteuse: ma préférée

  • She's brilliant and she's not for anyone to appreciate. I have to really enjoy music. Kate Bush thanks for your beautiful music!

  • her voice even get more brilliant - very nice vocal sound-effect

  • I LOVE YOU KATE!!!!!!

  • Orgasmic!

  • The bassist is Tony Franklin.

  • 1 person never made it up that hill....

  • All voices are powerful. This is coming from someone with not a lot this way but can recognize and appreciate.

  • This is whole step up from the original, wonder why they decided to play it this way

  • Does anyone know who the bassist is?

  • WOW what a collaboration

  • To all those leaving comments bewildered by the mullet...

    IT WAS THE FUCKING 80S!!!

  • @PadrethePio Look at the silly haircuts today, those justin bieber rag tops, they look funny.

  • Dear David, I have always admired your guitar playing and the sheer brilliance of Pink Floyd BUT REALLY The medievel type hairstyle that you are sporting here must be one of the original mullets CIRCA 1327 Still what goes around, comes around...Oh no I can feel a mullet coming on....Time for a quick short back and sides...PS Iam Kate Bush......

  • REGARDING THE MULLET CONUNDRUM....The guy on the bass is in fact Mr mullethead the first known hybrid of a man and a fish...he is a great bass player and a very good swimmer.

  • sweet 80's :-) wonderful!

  • Holy hell ! I love this song ! What was I missing out on being a 90's child ? Haha Nah 90's and 80's were both good . But loving the song aye, thanks !

  • hell, the the 1980's had a lot to say (Bad Religion, Jane's Addiction, The Replacements). this tune? so damn awesome!

  • You would never guess this was from the 80s.

  • ab fab...if you're old enough, you know what this means.

  • what a true force in music, melodys that are just untouchable

  • Gilmour was a sort of "father" for a younger Kate. He discovered her, recognized her talents, and motivated her to start a career as, more than a singer, a musician.

  • I don't know man. This is too 80's for me.

  • Came across this vid this evening and thought "wow, very unique...seeing Gilmour and kate together like that back in the day" Can anyone tell me if that is Tony Franklin on bass?....if it is, one of my fave bass players ever....and loved his work with with John Sykes and Carmine Appice when they were the band Blue Murder.

  • Where's your strat David? But down this shit.... XD

  • Like this so much. I wish I was there.

  • VH1 had a video of this song with guys in the background no band and it was incredible and ieery to watch...goosebumps on the arms and hair standing on the back of the neck ieery....

  • nice:)

  • Waow cette version est géniale!!

    Trop bien.

  • Thank you David for taking on another wonderul song.. DMan..

  • They are having HappyEnjoy ... she is so desirabbbbble!

  • *sighs* I ♥ Kate

  • Dave and Kate have huge mutual respect for each other. I like how he does that strange melody on the headless guitar. (I think it's a Steinberger) Backing vocals ain't shabby either. After having Roger Waters make animal noises and screams it was probably refreshing to have Kate sing. Kate has worked with Peter Gabriel as well.

  • On 17 January 2002, Bush appeared with her longtime champion, David Gilmour, singing the part of the doctor in "Comfortably Numb" at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Same show as this is from. Great!!! Too bad she didn't tour Aerial but...

    From wikipedia!

  • Great . luve's it.

  • Oh f+kn YES!!! David Gilmour WITH Kate Bush....made.

  • Love Kate Bush. Haven't seen her in a long time. One of her best songs ever.

  • «Bush was signed by EMI at the age of 16 after being recommended by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.»(wiki)

  • this is just perfect, 2 legends!!

  • This is brilliant shes a one off!! ;)

  • bellissimo

  • what a glorious mullet that bassist is displaying...you could let a family of doormice nest in there!

  • I cannot find the Hounds of Love CD anywhere. So frustrating. I love this song and it's not available on anything. I mean I want Kate Bush not a cover of the song.

  • @stjamesfan Try eBay. I just went there and there are 23 copies for sale ;)

I remember this from my childhood, but now I really appreciate it. Live she is amazing, what a voice!

The culture is changing and finally this is back in fashion.

  • I like the rock spin put to this song. David Gilmour and Kate Bush should do a lot more together

  • both david gilmour n kate bush fantastic musicians, disco garbage!!! haha obviously no idea on great music !!!!!!!!

  • Hey! A key-tar!

  • i love this song!!! i like the remix by placebo too.

  • Disco garbage, haha. You're funny, man. Kate Bush is pure exceptional genius, mate! She's not only one of the best vocalists of modern music but a great instrumentalist and plays the piano, guitar and violin and has also enormous production skills. One of the big talented artists in music. Placebo would not have covered her song if they had not great respect for her.

    Disco garbage, hahaha...

  • where do you think Placebo got their version from? DER

  • Kate Bush's song is way better than Placebo's emo garbage.

  • Silly.

  • You have no idea what 'emo' is, so.. yeah.

  • @LapisGarter Absolutely!

  • This is the BEST version of this song! Definitely improved over her original.

  • Eccelsi....arte pura.

  • I had no idea David Gilmour liked Kate Bush.

  • Actually, it was David Gilmour who helped Kate Bush get signed into EMI in the first place!

  • That's pretty cool. He's such a good guy.

  • @sniperforlife that's cool info.

  • @sniperforlife That's true; great they had this duet!

  • @sniperforlife The song by Kate Bush "The Man With the Child in His Eyes" was written about Dave Gilmour

  • @nancyneptune Gilmour discovered Kate Bush. You can find this in Wikipedia.

  • @nancyneptune «Bush was signed by EMI at the age of 16 after being recommended by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.»(wiki)

  • WOW... when was this done???? I would have loved to seen this!

  • Don't know, sorry.

  • It was done in 1987.

  • @elcheepo1 from the looks of it was a in the 80's lol

  • @elcheepo1 The Secret Policeman's Ball series. These were charity events through the 70s and 80s for Amnesty International in the UK that featured a number of contemporary rock and comedy stars, including members of Monty Python.

This is now on DVD as a set, either the whole (3 disc set), or for those that just want the music, "The Secret Policeman's Ball Rocks".

The song was released on an LP and Tape of the 3rd ball at the time (1986), but that is long out of print.

  • @elcheepo1 Secret Policeman's Ball in 1986.

  • @BigLebowski2000 Actually, it was 1987. The Secret Policeman's Ball was filmed over four nights in March at the London Palladium that year.

  • @CollinKelleyPoetry Ok then. I just read on another youtube movie from the same clip it was 1986 so I thought lets help this person solve the question. ;-)
