this is very emotional thanx for the song may the miners who lost there. REST IN PEACE. MAY GOD BLESS & COMF. THERE FAMILIES & FRIENDS. i love the Men of the Deep.
Every day my Grandfather came home form the mines. He would wait until he knew we had "stole away" in the truck. We raided his bucket, and there was always three pieces of candy, one for each of us. But as far as we knew, we got away with a good one. He would get out of the truck all blacked up, go get his tub and then it was time with us...then the milking to be done. He went into the mines at age 13, and taught my brother the ropes.
I mined for 31 years. Every time I hear this song, it brings me to tears. We're a special breed miners. What sets us apart is not only the work but the comraderie that is found in no other industry.
very nice friend..its a great song and I have a great respect for the men of the deeps. My dad was a longshorman on the west coast for 42 yrs, very dangerous job too, lost many friends,,he adopted this as his song too..when he ritired
These guys JUST played down the hill from where I live. Just got back and looked for a video of them to show my friends. Great show, if anyone has a chancce to see them, take it!
Thank you for posting, but I don't understand why you'd title it "Savoy Theater." A search for 'Working Man' returns several versions of this fine song - but not this version, which is the finest.
I love it! A great song, a great memory in the greatest place, The Savoy! Love the Savoy! The Men Of The Deeps are as much a part of Cape Breton as is the Cabot Trail. Thanks for the memories.
I was just up In glace Bay and saw these guys in concert Made me shed a fucking tear!

One of the fullest and distinctive voices in Canda. Underrated.
