Western Australia had something like them as yard shunters, the TA class. 3 axles, and for reasons I'm unsure of, connecting rods and counterweights joining up the axles. We have a plymouth 30T chain drive (4spd) standard gauge switcher in our museum. It is in full operating condition as well
