Hey, I have a 66' notchback and I heard that you have to cut the shock towers to fit in a bigger motor. What did you do and was it bolt in or fab all over again?
Actually the engine fits tight but there is no problems. I did put new mounts in there but the new mounts did bolt to the existing mount area. I also relocated the battery to the trunk.
How'd you lower it in? Did you have any scrtaches? I'm a college kid looking to take out my crappy 302 and throw in a 351 W and not go crate because I want the orginal look. Can you tell me the steps?
I am a college kid too, NMSU. I used an engine lift to lower it in without the transmission in, it was easier to put the tranny in underneath. There were no scratches you just have to have someone there to help you guide it down and in, the biggest thing is not to rush. Depending on the headers you choose they may need to be dented to miss your upper control are bolt. Keep it on the lift and bolt it to the mounts nothing to it. What are you gonna do with your 302?
Oh nice what are you studying? I'm going to a community college and then I'm going to UTI. Yeah I have a stage 3 aluminum c4 it's good to about 650 horsepower, yeah because I really want to get power and do a Windsor swap. I have flaming river headers polished and they are dented for groud clearane the drag on the ground haha. I'm going to sell my 302 it's actually a 306 bored, its a hi-po build I'm selling it for about $5,000 to $8,500.
My 351 cleveland is almost all done I cant wait to get it back. I stroked it to a 408 too. I have the RPM head/intake, big cam, MSD with 6500rpm chip, hooker headers, Holly 750 double pumper, and all forged internals. Looking at like 550-600hp
Dang sounds like an awesome setup, I had actually wanted to do a cleveland but freaked out about clearances and such. Another thing that made me go with the windsor is I found it first and for a good price I suppose both ways are a good way to make 500+ HP. You should let me know when you link a vid
ah, i see. You lie in the description of the video! I saw this link on the mustang forum, and you really have 408 cid. No wonder it seemed so dang fast.
I want to say between 4.5 ad 5 seconds it is hard to say... It would be alot better with slicks... I am having a hard time hooking up but it is over 500hp easy.
nice mustang u ever take it to the track
