Hello Jim Kerr/Simple Minds fans!! I was lucky enough to get this album for Christmas. I'm loving it as much as when I got N.G.D back in the day. It's BRILLIANT!!!
This CD was released in Poland or not ? Why my county ignores Simple Minds ?! It makes me really angry. Why our radios are so embarassingly stupid and retarted ?!
a call to arms for all simple minds fans, lets put this man back on top and show that with 30 years under his belt this kicks the backside off any xfactor 1 year hit wonders
check out Promo Electroset video performed in Hamburg on the 4th of August 2010 for German Radio Station NDR2
love this song cant wait for album to come out .we are putting a tribute band together called alive and kicking as the minds have just got such an awesome back catalogue ,but this stuff is like early minds ,keep it up jim u r a legend!!!!!
This guy is incredible. He really doesn't care his age, his overweight, his balding head. He's just still Lost Boy, he creates great pop music (much better than this common music in medias) and he is himself despites what people think or say. It's too bad SM and Kerr are not shown in medias in my Poland. Only U2. This song, Shadowland and She fell in love with silence are surely not worse than Magnifficent from last year but you can't hear Kerr songs in our radio stations. Dumbs work there !
@ASkywalker1 Done you will see my friend request. I notice that there is a promise for more dates - that is good enough for me. Wish Underworld would do the same thing :( I'm going to Sydney to see them.
Thanks for the comment. No I didn't mean to give you a thumbs down sorry about that.
I could not find it on Facebook but it is good that Jim approves.
We have the same problem with Underworld. They are doing Perth and Adelaide but not Brisbane. We are third largest city and most of the time we get them all, but this year aside from Tears for Fears, we are missing out again - sucks
think the songs are brilliant, imagery is superb, catchy and def should get plenty of airtime on the radio, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but some of the comments ive read, the people writin them wouldnt know a good song if it landed on top of them !!
I have to agree with you. I'm not happy Simple Minds are not playing in my city tonight here in Australia but that's a different story :(
I do prefer Shadowland but this is good, it does sound like stuff from most of Simple Minds - it has elements of Speed Your Love to Me, Factory, Stay Visible and Rockets. It takes a few listens but i'm giving it a high rating because overall it's a simply a good song.
@christos1973: "...sweat it." ? Yup, you just dated yourself. My point: J.K.'s Voice is still brilliant, esp. compared to others (e.g., [SB XLIV]; now, THAT was pure agony; '60s bands should play their old hits a 1/2 or whole step [or more] lower [adjust to the Voice's natural declination in register over time]). Concept-wise, I *love* "Refugee" & J.C.'s contributions *are* exciting: If I can listen to a song 20+ xs in a row & find new aspects to appreciate w/o getting bored, it's a *HIT*!
@christos1973: You're just full of "erudite and educated opinions," eh? What are you? A professional Critic?! The Voice is just *as strong as ever*; you ought to get off your arse, dance more, and ruminate less on critique-clichés, Baby!
@Mavarla Don't sweat it. The songs are pretty decent, and JK's voice is OK too on studio material (but listen to the live shows eh?), he's 50 now anyway. I just can't get excited on a fan (Jez Coad) regurgitating old ideas (calle re-invention lately). But then again I might just be too old for this...
Yes, it's full of cliches. Yes, it adds nothing new to the history of pop music. Yes, the voice ain't what it used to be. BUT: There is some of the long lost energy of early Minds work and the chorus is as catchy as it used to be in the Life in a Day years. Leaves much to be expected from the rest of the album, but they have let us down before in the past, so who knows.
The single is great.I heard it live on radio clyde lastnight.Jim seemed happy with the up and coming release of LOSTBOY,and his tour.I'm so looking forward to seeing him live in London on the 23'rd of May.
Best song from the album!

Was at the Belfast gig, it was amazing to experience this album live. It really harks back to early Minds, which is a damn good thing!
