the best way you can learn on FL is just to play about, obviously watch some guys videos to learn the advanced stuff but for basic starting out beats just play around yourself then once you think youve got the basics find a bit more and then learn of the masters like this guy here, dont rush yourself

I use FL studio 8 so it if you have a different version it might be different for you. Open up your Step Sequencer with all of your beat sections. After this, look up in the top left and there is a small box with -- inside of it, click and hold; drag your mouse up and down and the number in the box will correspond with how many beats you will have available in your step sequencer. Hop this helps.
