Im almost at the 2 week mark and well I didn't buy a thing that makes a hole or whatever your talking about I bought a plain metallic bowl and taped it to the toilet so far he is ok with everything, hopefully I can remove the metallic bowl tomorrow. I have not seen him once while he has used the bowl so I don't know if he has his feet in the bowl or what. He is a smart cat so I hope he will know what to do when I remove it.

But the flushing is a problem when you are out on a weekend or wont be coming home soon so for those situations I heard there are automatic flushers you apply to the tank and they will flush at time intervals specified by you. Problem solved =)

I just noticed a lot of people are concerned about the flushing. Most cats only poop once a day and always at the same time of the day, so for those its pretty simple. You know when they poop, follow the cat and flush for him. I also don't believe the cat would scratch on the water, worst case scenario he would scratch the inside of the toilet (wich is bad enough, that really could be a problem).

You could simply remove the toilets door, most toilet doors have screws and are easy to remove from the rest. This is if you really have a separate bathroom for the cat, or else it would be really unestetic to have the visits and stuff use a doorless toilet xD That is actually the only reason I haven't toilet trained my cat yet; my house has only one bathroom and even if I could bother to take the toilet litter on and off whenever I want to use the toilet, the other 3 ppl in the house wouldn't.

Once they learn then you have to teach the other knuckle heads in your house to leave the bathroom door open after they are done using it. So kitty can get in to use the potty as well. If your not willing to change the litter box for your cat, then you just shouldnt have a cat. Get a litterbox that has a sifter at the bottom, put it in the box, pour in the litter and theeeen.....just change it more frequently to not have to go through a big mess, because in my opinion, if ur gunna train the cat to use the toilet, thats just lazy...

We have several cats, (5-6) at the time. Some of 18yrs+. We attempted to toilet train with the arival of a new kitten. We purchaced a kit at the local petstore never noting how flimsy it was. All went well until our ancient 19ilb bowling ball fell threw, she decided the toilet seat was a much more stable place to shit. It took years of checking before you sat before the last of the basterds finially gave up and went back to their litter boxes.
