"Form is empty of inherent existence ...Emptiness is form... Emptiness is not other than form...form also is not other than emptiness ...Likewise feeling ...discrimination...compositional factors and consciousness are empty ...Like this all phenomena are merely empty having no characteristics. they are not produced and do not cease. They have no defilements and so separation from defilements..." There are no night club goers!
I think this reading is absolutely beautiful - He does such a great job singing it, acapella, in a room full of noise, in that diminished scale and not falling out of tune. The words are some of the most powerful in the history of humankind. Yet, I must add it would be nice if they would have labeled the video in reference to the "Heart Sutra" as opposed to Howl . I just keep coming back to this to listen to it.
@kazmaslanka What an exciting feeling it was to be there in that moment filming him. The crowd was unruly and rude. Their impatient highs wanted pounding music not powerful poetry I'm afraid. Times had changed. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
Welcome to your times. Im only glad Allen got to see that his departure would actually be agood thing, FOR HIM. Drunken Pig whores, trading in vocation for weekend pornography and hangovers. they live to be the thing itself. a beer commercial. Where to go? Where to run? Ripe for the rotting. Deaf to the plotting.
What was once "truly worthy of life?" Where are the ashes? The car rides? The movies? The gestures? The trees? The bottom of the ocean? The accents, the ways, the works, WHERE?!?!?! Doesn't it make sense to say that neither you, nor I, nor anyone know what is worthy? Nothing and Everything? Or does it not? What is it? Are you too cowardly to commit suicide, or too moronic to know what you should do? Another 9-5 and pessimism.
""Doesn't it make sense to say that neither you, nor I, nor anyone know what is worthy?""
That thought itself is unworthy.
I think it reflects everything you are capable of thinking. It is the herd-dogma of our age, repeated perfectly, with an absolutely nauseating monotony. I dont ask you, a standard specimen of democratic herd man, to explain yourself. I would insult my own meager intelligence.
A few suggestive words were written. Perhaps you can see yourself in them, as in a mirror.
You easy-going and shallow conformist, masquerading as an oddity. Take off the eye-liner, & the beat-clown get-up; then go land a job at a bank. It would be more honest, & quite probably more lucrative. You'll feel more yourself, and live a little. A poetess? Of what? With practice you can aspire to be the female Leona Cohen: another fraud.

What he's reading in this segment is not "Howl" but the Heart Sutra, one of Buddhism's central teachings.

@Billhearsvoices It could have been his Bar Mitzvah Torah reading for all I knew. :) I will have to change that. Thank you!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The stupidity of this... incredible.
A satirist could not have done it better.
What happens when they satirize and parodize themselves, these idiots and frauds? What have we left to do?
Some day a youth movement will rise up and destroy all this nonsense, and reconstitute itself on the ashes of what once was truly worthy of life.
This is all gutter, & plebeianism.
Onanism. Death. Too cowardly to commit suicide. Too moronic to know that they should.

Is this a poem you've written?
If it is, why are people thumbs-downing you?

First off I aint a woman. And secondly I don't where eye liner ;)

I've got just the author for you, honey.
Take a look at Louis Ferdinand-Céline, and find yourself in his pages. Try "Voyage au bout" - the character 'Lola'.
The history of the world as fashion. The fashionably odd u-tube queen as "poetess".
You have a future in satire: an insane woman gave you your life's calling.... and you answered with a belch. Living in London. Just perfect.

am I an island of pumice or a wreck of memories
the eye's blink when air became my sole viand when I was certain eating was no longer a need that dive into the sky which fits into one lie
no traces of flow, no flux just foam a fuzzy frontier reaching at places to the core of petrified froth - the isle of me
that distant shore was a part of me until the great fire burnt it out of - is it the isle of me, you'd better call it home

""Too moronic to know they should..."
Wrong. Too vain to know that they should.
That's more like it.
