  • This guy is a christian but is pretty harmless. He seemed able to listen and find common ground. Those type of christians I have no problem with at all.

  • Yay Motörhead...

  • Comment removed

  • I think we need an Atheist president. Matt?

  • @njintau: I'd vote for him.

  • I find the bible a teacher of ignorance.

  • Here's what only religion can do: scare sociopaths straight. All those people who insist atheists should be out killing and stealing - where would they be without religion?

  • @IoEstasCedonta I thought that part of being sociopathic was lack of ability to feel fear, along with total belief in oneself being the only center of action (meaning they can do what they feel like regardless of what others may think). Am I wrong?

  • Children have no empathy until 5 or 6. They're not naturally violent, but not because they reject violence, only that they don't understand the stick, either.

  • People live on symbolism. I never understood it. Thunderfoot's Quran burning was quite boring and, to me, barely noticeable. Still, there was an outrage. I'd understand a bit more, had they been real and not data. I hate to see any book being burned. It was so stupid seeing people get all pissed off about a bunch of e-books.

  • MOTORHEAD!!!

  • tracie should be in charge of this show, not matt. matt is a prick. he wanted to preach the bible to people, now he wants to preach against it. he just loves to get into arguments and be aggressive with people. tracie is so much more civilised and busts the opponent's argument without even becoming agitated and often without agitating the caller. there is absolutely no need to get nasty here.

  • @topperheartramada He's not being nasty, it's called stone cold reality, its called talking to people like they're adults and not holding their hand. "Oh the big bad man hurt my feelings!" People these days are SO sensitive it sickens me. Are we adults or aren't we?

  • @dkthg your rack wins.

  • @topperheartramada Ah the twins; always a game-changer! LOL!

  • @topperheartramada Matt makes the show more amusing. He, at least has a background in Christian theology. I would still rather Tracie... she's cute. lol

  • @topperheartramada But agitating evangelicals is one of the best perks of being an atheist.

  • @acr08807 well, after all these centuries of their domination and power to enslave people with their outrageously infantile and ridiculous ideas, it's time to let them have it.

  • What's he talking about that he did the previous week? Did he eat Wafers™ or something?

  • @InYourFaceNewYorker He wrote or painted on one as far as I recall, as well as told the audience to do the same, and possibly send pics... I don't actually remember. I do think he was eating them with canned cheese though,...

  • Matt for president.

  • @r2d2sue srry, too many retards in this country right now

  • Tracy is both beautiful and intelligent. Her husband is a very lucky man.

  • Best quote of the episode: "All of you who left church this morning should be able to open your bibles, or think..." -Matt

  • Why is the topic Batman Begins?

  • MOTORHEAD!

  • Haha I love his shirt.

    SCIENCE

    it works bitches

  • i believe in white supremacy

  • If it(religion, or whatever) cannot be independently verified then it most likely not true. ;O)

    Katalyzt

  • @fuckmania07

    You first.

  • @fuckmania07 Wait, are you serious? You could get me into the next movie? Burn in Hell 4: The Final Burning! Oh wow, do you know the director or something?

  • @fuckmania07 I love that movie too! Isn't that the sequel? Or am I thinking of the wrong trilogy? "Burn in Hell." Then "Burn in Hell 2: Real and Eternity." And the last movie, "Burn in Hell 3: Believe in Jesus before it's too late- Directors cut."

  • @ilovesarakim LMFAO!! I saw that movie to. Worse 10% of my earnings I have ever wasted!

  • @fuckmania07 I love that movie!

  • dilly said christianity teaches immorality...

tell me one thing Jesus taught thats immoral

  • @PacmanBonez "Turn the other cheek."

  • @PacmanBonez "do not think for the morrow"

  • @asdfbobbyasdf morrow?

  • @PacmanBonez Dont give thought to tomorrow...reallly didnt think that need any elaboration.

  • @asdfbobbyasdf

Not everybody knows that "tomorrow" is a conjunction. Same goes for "yesteryear" which means the year before but is used seldom ;)

  • @PacmanBonez Telling an innocent child that ever since he was born, he possesses original sin and is a wretch until he believes in some vindictive god that apparently loves you but would torture you for all eternity for using your brain. That is one of the most immoral things things about Christianity, I'm not even going to get into what the Old Testament say, but I can if you would like.

  • @brochill69 well youre not accountable until you reach an age of accountability... babies dont go to hell... where would u get that from???

  • @PacmanBonez You made that up. The bible does not say babies are given a pass. In fact if you believe in the great flood (which is in the bible) then many babies died and god killed em. So did they get cherry picked out of the watery grave and given a pass to heaven? I do not think so. If the flood was sent to eliminate evil and they were killed in the flood. Then they were deemed evil by god and evil can not be in his presence, hence they went to hell to. Peeope believe in the buybull or burn.

  • @bigsubwayman1 believe what u want kiddo.. freedom of religion

  • @PacmanBonez

That's not even the discussion, and it has nothing to do with "belief". He gave an example from scripture which shows "god" behaving in a demonstrably immoral fashion.

  • @lumburgapalooza coming from an atheist w/ an arbitrary sense of morality...... fail

  • @PacmanBonez

Coming from someone who uses internet jargon in place of making an actual point, I'll go ahead and take whatever the hell you're saying as a compliment.

I'm not really certain that that's the best course of action, but you seem both entirely incomprehensible and vaguely disapproving, so I'll play my hand.

If the patterns holds, I should now receive a response which includes any of the following: "LOL", "faggot" (correct spelling optional), and "OWNED".

    Breath = baited.

  • @lumburgapalooza i feel bad for you... just another worldy person who cant comprehend the ways of God b/c youre actually arrogant enough to think your ways are better than his ways

  • @PacmanBonez

Wow! We really jumped topics, here. Straight from incomprehensible nonsense to flat-out condescending proselytizing. Let me ask you, have you ever heard of someone who has been converted through being insulted? Do you really think that your Slave Master wants you to damn me to the eternal torture chamber that he created because you're too high-and-mighty to properly pitch your religion? What happened to "love your enemy"? Not that I consider you my enemy. You don't qualify.

  • @lumburgapalooza u dont want to be converted.. if u did u would live by Jesus teaching and then his truths would become self evident.. but u dont want to do that do ya

  • @PacmanBonez

So you're saying that the only people that are worth converting are those that already have a predisposition towards being converted? No, I don't want to be converted, but that's irrelevant. Your book teaches you that you should try to save everyone. Is your judgment of me that I am beyond saving? What about murderers that repent in prison and go gaga for Christ? Are you saying that I am worth less than them? Are you saying that I'm not worth saving? Isn't that an unfair judgment?

  • @lumburgapalooza u dont want to be converted.. u said it yourself.. were done

  • @PacmanBonez

Then you have shirked your responsibility to your faith and to your Slave Master. He will have a special, sharp cactus waiting for your anus in his torture chamber in the middle of the earth. But, of course, he loves you and it's your own fault. He is benevolent and kind. Now enjoy burning in torturous agony for eternity.

  • Im a 2nd Dan black belt. Im ALL about not hitting because its not nice. My son is 3.5. He is constantly hitting, dispite the rules and influences i and his mother enforce.

You cannot rationalize with a child less than 5. They dont have the experience or brain formation to make the proper connections.

Matt, you are a smart man, but have a kid, then talk about how they tick.

  • @MrKevMan your just a horrible parent. my 2 year old nephew knows not to hit people, cleans his room and even knows to wipe his feet before walking into the house.

  • @ThePsychoticScyth396

A parent is much different than an uncle. A child is more likely to respond to a familar stranger than someone they interact with on a regular basis.

Perhaps i am a horrible parent, or perhaps your nephew is weak willed and my son is very independent.

Maybe if you knew the value of comparing apple to apples youd be able to make a more accurate comment.

  • Does it "work...bitches." Or does it "work bitches"? Or both?

  • i want that shirt Matt is wearing!

  • @KspekEvo you can buy it from the xkcd store

  • haha @ Tracie... "My mother's crazy, so I'm not even getting into this."

  • Tracie. You are cute.

  • what is this song?

  • Aesop's Fables are far better moral teaching than the bible, older too, and nobody thinks that they are real.

  • Question: Will there be more and more people converted to atheism as time continues? I say this because I find it hard to see atheists converting to theism. Will it ever ( say 500 years) be religious free (100% atheists, if that makes sense).

  • @JinxOz We can only hope!

  • I hate it when my cousin Carlos keeps calling me go bowling, it's not fair.

  • Did anyone notice what Matt's shirt says? ROFLMAO xD

  • All what keeps hypochristians in line is the irrational fear of their own fantasies. Fucking pathetic.....

  • Alturism is evil.

  • "I don't have an agenda or anything" ... I love how these people make their excuses early.

  • "All of you people who left church this morning should be able to...think..."

    There's your overestimation, Matt.

  • I can be totally wrong here but in my experience it's:

    Fluent talked=>decent guy

    Not so fluent talker=>morons.

  • @Londron Also those with Southern accents are usually morons too. Not that there's anything wrong with Southern accent, but so far all of whom who called in with a Southern accent have turned out to be morons who don't talk so fluent either.

  • Every now and then you find a theist who is worth some measure of respect.

The caller in this clip, I think, is one of them.

  • Look at Matt's shirt:

    'SCIENCE, it works BITCHES!"

    I totally agree...

  • kids r evil!!! lol

  • Thank-you for that call, Boomhauer.

  • Jeff a-Dee, he's mah hero, gonna take religion down-to-zero! Jeff Dee: "the power is yours!"

  • "Be proud of your country because it's doing good things, not just because it's your country. Don't treat your country like it's a football team..." Three cheers for Matt--blind patriotism is as bad as blind faith! I think sometimes people treat their RELIGION like that also, it's their TEAM, so they don't criticize and can't stand criticism of it. They don't analyze it. It's the team, and everyone should be on board and just cheer for victory.

  • He should come to Sweden, here we are about 85% non-believers and we do just fine.:) There is no moral chaos or such. Instead we have had one the most peaceful and secure countries around for a long time. That could change though becasue of new religious influence from islam... Anyway I hope USA as a whole sees that not believeing in god does no harm, quite the opposite.

  • @CreativeFreedoms

I hope one day people in the USA will be the way people in Sweden are, with more open minds and true freedom from religion.

  • Not all people are the same, without some control people run wildly with their new "found freedom".

  • @crissxxx You may lack self-control, morality and ethics, however, a lack of the belief in a god - which flavor do you believe in? - does not make anyone "run wildly with their newfound freedom". Your statement is the lowest level of thinking. Please stay religious if YOU would run amuck.

  • Listen if somehow it will be proven 100% that God doesnt, exist society will torn itself apart.Since the oldest ages people always had Gods in order to enforce some sort of law and standards for morality. The problem is about a habit that the world always were addicted.Without a God how will most of people make a standard for morality or what will be the level of tolerance?

  • @crissxxx Sweden is 90% Atheist, and Sweden has the lowest crime rates in the world. It's one of the safest and stable countries in the world. And the funny thing is that the prison population in Sweden is 90% Theists.

  • Yes but try to teach others who all their lives believed that way.

  • @crissxxx Without the irrational beliefs there would be less sexual discrimination, far less racial discrimination and less reasons to go to war. That sounds good to me.

  • @baldurus1 I don't think it is as high as 90%. 72% of Sweden's population belond to the church of Sweden.

  • @baldurus1

actually, what it is is that 80% of the population doesn't believe in a personal God that they can use as an accuse for evil. 25% are atheists, and 75% belive in a "spirit" or "life-force" or a "personal god"... only 20% follow their chosen religion anti-agnostically. Most Swede's continue to be liberal Lutheran. more than 70% of the population confeses to being agnostic.

and its not because being a theist is illegal! ;)

  • @Cissy20 It's the most amazing thing: these people who claim that without the belief in a dog everyone would go crazy, they mean that they themselves would rape, murder, steal. WTF? Really? Fear is all that keeps you twats in line?

  • @jymbo1969

yes, this was the sad conclusion that i came to also...such wolf's in sheeps clothing need a shepard that can keep their zipper's tight and allow them to keep faking their morality.

  • @CreativeFreedoms Nope, we're all gonna have to move to Sweden with u! ;)

  • @CreativeFreedoms Fat chance. Any room in Sweden for one more atheist?

  • @CreativeFreedoms

Great. I think I will move to Sweden one time. And now not only because of the hot blonde swedish girls! ;)

  • @CreativeFreedoms Yes I love it here!

  • @CreativeFreedoms I hear you 100%. I'm not what the liberals label an "islamophobe" but if they don't want to assimilate they should get the fuck out. The west is secular and sharia is a direct opposition to the values held dear by what is defined as the west. It's not just the christian fundamentalists that oppose islam, Us American atheists do as well but for different reasons, mainly sharia.

  • @CreativeFreedoms Almost all believers are immigrants, too. Lol

  • @CreativeFreedoms I'm sure religious people don't want to hear or believe this ha ha ha ha

  • @CreativeFreedoms Religion feeds off of misery. America's not the worst place to live for certain, but there's certainly quite a few people who aren't getting all their needs met. Plus there's always uncertainty even if you're secure and should have no worries.

Religion drops off by itself as soon as a country is run well.

  • google Doe's Account. mindblowing.

  • Tracy is so HOTT!!!!!!!!!

  • @12stepfailure well, atleast her brain is hot haha

  • i really can't believe people just don't understand that morals just come from ourselves and what our parents taught us... its really just dawning on me now... everyone REALLY thinks that i'm a nice person only if God 'tells' me to be? hogwash! just mindblowing...

  • @LOGIC42369 Dude, I can't tell you the number of times I get, "Your an ATHEIST? That's impossible...you're such a nice person!" I laugh every time.

  • @Jixzer I have a response for that.

"I can show you how offensive that is. What religion are you?"

    "(insert religion, usually Christian)"

"But that's impossible! You're such a smart person!"

  • @TheGeneralCritic Oh yea. :)

  • Last days?! You mean Revelation? According to the Bible, it should have all ready happened! Time for you to read the Bible.

  • Christians who don't even see that Christianity is a religion....

    Fuck....

  • @goofyladygirl

Stop pretending you know what god wants darling.

  • Lots of wemens have a crush on god

  • Ooh scary..

    ...yeah right

  • @goofyladygirl the last ays have been drawing near for 2000 years. armageddon was supposed to occur within the disciples lifetimes.

  • How can he be so knowledgeable on religion and not see all the fucked up things our country has done the past 60 years.

  • Children are not stupid and mean by nature. Yes, about 90% of them are total shits, but alot of kids are good. The guy who said cruelty is in kid's nature must have been one of the bad ones.

  • 1:52 "My mom is crazy so I'm not even getting into this"

LMAO I love Tracie. I was thinking the same thing about my mom.

  • What you just said in the end about blind patriotism is not said enough, in any country! Racism, ignorance and war mongering really derives from that fact. In order to abolish blind patriotism we need more critical thinking. I am proud of my country where critical thinking is the most central and important rule that all curriculums derives from. Whereas I dislike other parts of my country where being a theist gets your ridiculed (yes, those places exist too).

  • You either believe its true or you don't, an 'apatheist' Is an atheist that doesnt want to rub people the wrong way.

If you don't care, then by definition your answer is; i don't think there is and i don't care.

If you thought there was, you would say, yes i do believe in god, but i don't care.

Or in other words you are a practical atheist. you operate as if there is no god.

Its an intellectually weak standpoint. You're better of saying i havent really thought about it, if that is your answer.

  • We need a new word for people who don't give a damn whether there is or isn't a god, or what he, she, or it might want or do. They aren't so much atheists as "un-ists" of any sort who seem to be sicktheists-to-deatheists of the entire issue!!

  • the word you might want is "apatheist", combining 'apathetic' and 'theist', meaning you don't care about the question of God for whatever reason. It's what i commonly refer to myself as these days. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks... that is the word I was looking for.

  • thanks ffreethinker, this show is great, i love critical thinking

  • Well... I didn't realize their main topic was Batman Begins.

  • All religions teaches is how to live in the enviroment religion itself creates!

  • I've never really met religious people. I would hate to have been brought up in a country where it's widespread.

  • I envy you!

  • It is great to get comments on a post I have made that are not, "you'll burn in hell" or the like for once!

You may envy that fact but I am sure you're far more honed in anti-religious arguements than I, and thus there has been some benefit in growning up somewhere where religion is pervasive!... at least that is the best spin I can come up with for now ;) !

  • Trust me, it's probably worse than you think it is.

  • Never really met religious people? Can't I send you my father for like a few months? You'll know what the christian version of a taliban is.

  • I am deeply and profoundly sorry for your loss. I would gladly offer you moral support and compassion.

  • As for patriotism....

I'll be flat out honest, I think most forms of it are creepy as fuck. I know that most people who chestbangingly salute flags don't hold fascist beliefs. But if a fascist movement comes about, people who join it first are within the chestbanging flag waving crowd. When I see people hail to a flag, I can't help but see them one step away from heiling to the flag.

If people truly love their countries anyway they don't worship them as they are, but try to improve them.

  • Hailing, heiling,.. Same thing, different language.

  • Oh religion can be a teacher for life...

I just don't think it should have gotten its teachers license. Because it doesn't seem to know a single thing about science.

  • It sucks at history, too.

  • Yeah, Aspirin is god.

  • Aspirin is white too. lol

  • "Science. It works, bitches"

    I LOVE THAT SHIRT! XD

  • Great show. Matt is such a clever guy; he nails it almost every time.

  • Matt is god. jk

  • you don't need to force reigion down a kid's throat to raise them well.

  • "Good wombs have born bad sons."

  • I´m not an atheist, I´m agnostic, and I share everything this guy said. Way to go! Good show indeed!

  • so you believe in god but dont know if there is one?... agnosticism and gnosticism are based on knowledge theism and atheism is based on belief. i'm atheist agnostic, i dont believe but i dont know... just bugs me when people misuse terms. :)

  • I know you´re just repeating what these guys said in another show, but that´s not corrrect, because...

In fact gnosticism doesn´t exist. You can´t know....bah what´s the point....I know what I am. Period.

    Just think about it.

Nobody knows. Some think they know, (atheists and theists), and some think they just don´t know (agnostics)....that´s all the options there are.....these guys divided this into believe vs. knowledge, but that division is wrong.

  • i'm actually going by the dictionary definitions. theism is the belief in a god, not a knowledge of a god. many theists consider their beliefs to be knowledge but some dont and will admit to not knowing. theism is belief in a god, atheism is the opposite

  • That´´s right. And agnosticism is the intermediate position between the two beliefs, simple. As I said before, that´s the choice. And besides, if you believe in something, BUT DON´T KNOW ITFOR SURE, it´s just not good enough to me...

  • WRONG. Agnosticism has to deal with Gnosticism. It is not even in the same category as Theism and Atheism. Gnosticism has to deal with what you "know" and Theism deals in what you "believe." You either believe in a god or you do not. Agnosticism has to do with your stance on "knowing" all the information about something, or rather is the rejection of that claim. It is possible to be an Agnostic Atheist or Agnostic Theist.

  • No, it´s not good enough, I already explained why....

  • Do you believe in god?

  • Oh, come on, read the previous comments of mine....

I don´t know if there is a god, multiple gods, or none. Simple.

  • So, you don't believe in god?

  • I believe in stupid questions, they appear all the time.

  • That answer isn't relevent to my question.

  • Just because you didn't get the loaded, black'n'white answer you *wanted* doesn't mean it wasn't relevant.

  • Actually it does, you're just trying to avoid answering it.

  • This response doesn't even make sense. You hadn't even asked *me* anything to start with.

"Actually it does"... it does *what*?

  • Sorry, I mistook you for fedea82, I haven't really been paying much attention.

  • Not really, the first thing you're going to have to do before you ask, "do you believe in god" is, what is god? Because every time I talk to a believer and they describe god I get a different answer. So until then, the question is essentially not worth answering.

  • No, I need to ask "what is god to you?" after I ask "do you believe in god?".

If I was to ask the former first, it would make the latter redundant.

Of course there's a fairly good chance they'd still avoid answering it.

  • Yeah, I have learnt through experience that Christians fail to describe the concept which is God. And so far the only ones that I know of who seem to be able to describe the concept "God", are Muslims. And their description never differs much from other Muslims' description.

  • Very well then, it is not a *useful* answer.

  • i dont!

  • You don't what?

  • Don't we all?

  • how is there an intermediate position between believing something and not believing something?... either you do or you dont, then you either know or you dont and you combine them accordingly.

    <
