    I got the hood to close by cutting out the under reinforcement (the X patterns) around the middle of the hood, and bowed the back to curve the hood to clear the motor, basically making a reverse cowl induction hood.

    The body is a hatchback yes, but the USA never got an official 180SX. Since the motor size is a 2.4L we get a 240SX. This is neither, it has a 4.5L V8, thus it is a 450SX. Do you understand?

    If you know what your doing and nonstop working on it, a couple of months, if you know nothing about monster swaps then forget it.

    Yep, lots of issues. Are you going with a mount kit from somebody, or are you going to build it yourself?

    Mazworx, Xsessive Mfg, any fabrication shop.

    Issues:

    Wiring, exhaust, alt, p/s, no a/c, hood interference, transmission shifter location, sway bar interference and excessive smiling just to name a few.

    stick a little turbocharger in there and youll be pumping out close to 350rwhp! imagining that gives me chills. im doing a vh45de engine swap too except its going into a jet black 96' 40k mile old garaged 300zx n/a

  • 350? Some have been getting up to 460 with just 6-8 psi. on stock internals. I might go and have the motor reworked with chevy rods and pistons to get more power and cost about the same as just getting custom pistons for the VH. IDK right now

    This car has been dismantled though, I now have it in a 95 shell. The fit is much better.

  • Hmm... are you on coilovers? I've been waiting to put on my chuki skirts and kouki valances until I get rid of my s-techs for some coils, but your car isn't slammed and it still looks pretty good...

  • Thanks, they are on coil over kit that I modified to have the most travel, but they're not true coilovers.

  • The swap overall is not too bad, not as easy as the sr, but more along the lines of the rb.

    If you buy the kit to put it in, it will be easy.

  • I'm in TX.

    The Mazworx headers do not have an EGR port, so if your state requires it then you will most likely not pass. EGR is only used by the car to control fuel economy at cruising speeds only.

    You might give Mazworx a call and see if they can put a port on the headers for you, or you can make a set of your own.

  • Actually, EGR reduces combustion temperatures in order to reduce production of oxides of nitrogen (NOx)

  • I aint going to lie to you...i've ben debating on what engine to do on my s13....just by seing your vid....it just made me sign off and go to the wrenking yard and pick up a vh45......for dirt cheap....i got the hook up......you think you can just simply make a list of the main things needed...when pulling out the engine....like the harness .....computer...what about the cluster guage....will i have to splice and connect the wires.......

  • The main parts you would need are the engine, the engine harness, ecu, and exhaust manifolds, ( if you want to build your own). Optional parts are the trans if you want to use the auto, but the 240sx would need the q45 body harness, so I wouldn't recommend it. Just get an adapterplate and use the 300zx manual transmission. The q45 gauge clust will not fit the 240sx, but everything will run the 240 factory cluster, with the only exception the tach. You will need a converter from 8 cyl to 4 cyl.

  • ....and you will have to splice wires, and add relays to make everything work.

  • First I had to fab up the motor mounts, by using hockey pucks, there is virtually no engine movement. I also wanted to have p/s, and it needs to have an alternator, so I fabbed those brackets too. The stock Q45 is auto, so I made the adapter plate out of 1/2" t6 aluminum, machined the 300zx trans to fit flush to the block. The drive shaft I ordered from Mazworx. The exhaust was also fabbed by me, so if time is money, and what I spent on parts I have more than $6K in the car.
